Scary stuff from Sean Michael Field

Dominion Detective Noir Webseries

“What are you? You’re not human…”

Too much weed causes a druggie to ask a question of a passing stranger in Dominion’s Shimmermen episode…

“…and if you ever do get a glimpse of something you shouldn’t have, shut the hell up. Trust me on this. I’m a professional.”

Sean Micheal Field in Dominion’s mini-episode 5: Shimmermen

We’ve enjoyed each new installment at the Dominion website and we hope the series grows into something much, much larger. It certainly has mass appeal and we can even see a movie down the road. We really think it’s that good and we hope our friends make the big time with Dominion. Bajan actor Sean Micheal Field plays Detective Jeremiah Grey, who is pulled into the world of the supernatural by his newest client, an enigmatic woman named “Marco”. He must make the choice to follow Marco into a dangerous new world… or die getting out.

Sean’s correct: “If you ever do get a glimpse of something you shouldn’t have, shut the hell up….”

We’ll have to remember that next time we see Clive with something “not human” on a Friday night at Oistins! :-)

Episode Shot in Barbados

Minisode 18 was shot in Barbados. See anyone you know? :-)

Please visit our friends at: Dominion – a detective noir webseries

Can’t hardly wait for the Dominion premier on March 2, 2011!

Sean Michael Field, Rodney Smith and Andrew Stoute are some of the most talented film guys we know and they have created what might be a new genre: The detective noir webseries. We’ve watched the Dominion trailers and we’re more than intrigued – we are excited because what we see is compelling in every way: plot, visuals, characters. We can’t wait for the official debut.

BFP regulars know that we’ve been big fans of Sean Field (the handsome devil in the photo) since he made the girls swoon with his HIV condom advert a few years back. (Shona just walked by, saw what I wrote and is starting to giggle.) Since then he’s moved to Hollywood where he continues to land movie and major commercial roles as he progresses in a tough business. Talent and hard work are paying off for Sean and we’re proud of him. It’s so good to see a truly decent guy doing well in a tough town like Hollywood.

Sean is hanging around back home in Barbados until Monday, so say hi if you see him!

What is Dominion all about?

Here’s what the Dominion website says. You can watch the trailers by clicking here or on the banner.

“DOMINION” is a webseries that revolves around a detective, Jeremiah Grey, who is pulled into the world of the supernatural by his newest client, an enigmatic woman named “Marco”. He must make the choice to follow Marco into a dangerous new world… or die getting out.

Each webisode will be 5-8 minutes in length and it is structured much like a comic book with a major story arc covering 5-6 webisodes. The first major arc will cover Jeremiah’s introduction to Marco’s world while the rest of the 24 webisode season will cover the consequences of his exposure and his quest to either escape or join Marco on her mission.

Bajan in Hollywood Sean Michael Field lands another major commercial – AAMCO Auto Repair

Talent, hard work paying off for a nice guy in a tough business

Another big company has turned to Hollywood-based Sean Michael Field to bring their image to America. AAMCO, one of the largest auto repair networks in the USA is “fielding” (ed: couldn’t help it!) a new television commercial on June 1st starring our friend.

We’ve been following Sean’s acting career since he made the girls swoon with his HIV condom advert a few years back. (Shona just walked by, saw what I wrote and is starting to giggle because she remembers the commercial.)

I don’t know much about the movie or television business, but if I look at Sean Field’s work over the past few years the word that comes to mind is “versatile”. He takes a variety of rolls and excels at each one right from macho sexy, to romantic, to a bit of comedy (his KFC commercial) to sinister bad guy.

According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB), Sean has a couple of new movies on the go too.

It’s so good to see a truly decent guy doing well and progressing in a tough town like Hollywood. We look forward to seeing his Sean’s AAMCO commercial soon. We’ll let you know if we find it online next month.

Sean’s website is here: Sean Michael Field website

As an aside, it doesn’t happen too often that Barbados Free Press scoops Ian Bourne and The Bajan Reporter on an entertainment industry story but it looks like we’ve done it this time!   :-)

Bajan in Hollywood: Sean Michael Field continues to land movie roles

Actor Sean Field - Doing well in Hollywood. Making Bajans proud!

We reported on Bajan-in-Hollywood Sean Field in August of 2009 when he landed a major commercial spot with KFC – Kentucky Fried Chicken as The Grill Sergeant. (That KFC story was originally broken by our friend Ian Bourne at his old Bajan Reporter blog. Check it out here.)

Prior to that in July of 2009 Sean stopped by Barbados Free Press and disagreed with our criticism of Rihanna. At the time, he wrote…

“And yes, Rihanna is a superstar. Living here in LA all I have to do is mention Barbados and every person says “Rihanna”. That wasn’t the case a few years ago.

Does it mean that she is a role model for children in the country? NO. That is what parents are for. And in Barbados we have plenty of those to go around, along with aunties and uncles. So at the end of the day does it matter that she has a mohawk? NO. Does it matter that someone at BFP doesn’t like it? NO. That’s their opinion and they’re entitled to it.”

Bajan in Hollywood Sean M. Field in the BFP article Hollywood Actor Sean Michael Field on Barbados Free Press, Rihanna’s Mohawk & Segway Polo Championship

We were looking at the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) the other day and plugged in Sean’s name and were pleased to see that he continues to land acting roles in film productions.

If you head over to Sean’s website you can sample some of his work that isn’t even mentioned on IMDB.

Good luck, Sean… Keep on hitting!

Hollywood Actor Sean Michael Field on Barbados Free Press, Rihanna’s Mohawk & Segway Polo Championship: “I’m going to have to say something about this…”

Actor Sean Field - Comfortable with or without mohawk, in Hollywood or Bridgetown

Actor Sean Field - Comfortable with or without mohawk, in Hollywood, New York or Bridgetown

Ok I’m going to have to say something about this. (BFP’s article Rihanna: We Want Our Girl Back The Way She Was)

Just a few years ago being the first man in Bim to have a mohawk I was gawked at, ridiculed, etc. Personally I could give a ra_____. (substitute traditional bajan slang here) The reality is I am who i am and if i choose to wear locks, a bald head, or mohawk and dye it green, its my blasted head.

Now three years later i walk the streets of Bridgetown and see ZR conductors, kids at school (and yes my son was the first one back then too), women, you name it, all wearing a mohawk. No more ridicule, now we have acceptance. Did I set out to change something in Barbados? No. Did Gigi Jones? No. We just did us. She was the first woman in Bim to do so as well. And we rocked it with style. (which we continue to rock without asking permission)

What we have in Barbados is a conservative society blended with an usual desire to seek confirmation from outside sources. We need to first be able to be ourselves. Regardless of what that is.

rihanna-mohawk-haircutThe girl cut she hair, why is this news? She was made an ambassador to the youth for one reason only, she is the ONLY superstar we have (so far, I’m working on changing that) and this will always bring attention.

And yes, Rihanna is a superstar.

NO. Does it matter that someone at BFP doesnt like it? NO. That’s their opinion and they’re entitled to it.

I mean just turn on CBC anytime cricket is playing and there splashed across the screen is my face, mohawk and all, advertising condoms. And that for the National HIV Commission. I got ridicule for that. Did i care? NO. It was my choice and i wore it gladly. The real thing is we need to have the courage to be ourselves. Regardless of what that is. If the girl come out tomorrow and say she gay what people would say then? Seriously, we need to end the judgmental, gossiping by the rumshop mentality that has permeated our society for years and try to show the world what we have. Regardless of what that is. I mean we just won the Segway championship, to me that is just another example of how were finally expanding in this global society as a real player. No pun intended.

Lets try and realise that only Rihanna is living Rihanna’s life. Everyone else needs to go and live theirs.

Exiting soapbox now….
