Natalee Holloway suspect Joran van der Sloot pleads guilty in Peru murder

A truly evil man

The prime suspect in the Aruban disappearance of Natalle Holloway pleaded guilty today to murdering 21 year old Stephany Flores in Lima, Peru hotel in 2010. 24 year old Dutch citizen Joran van der Sloot will be sentenced by a Peruvian court on Friday.

After the Holloway investigation closed without charges, van der Sloot was in the news several times: confessing to the Holloway murder on hidden video, and dealing in human trafficking between Asia and The Netherlands. Barbados Free Press followed the Holloway story because of the regional interest and the “how not to handle a major crime” lessons given by the government, police and tourism authorities in Aruba.

Van der Sloot could be given up to 30 years in jail, but in our opinion he shouldn’t be allowed to be free ever again. Some people are so evil they can never be reformed. When you read about how he tortured Holloway’s parents and then see him confess on hidden video, you know that Van der Sloot is truly evil.

Natalee Holloway suspect Joran van der Sloot wanted for Peru murder

UPDATED: Joran van der Sloot arrested in Chile – Also charged with extorting money from Natalee Holloway’s mother. We won’t follow this story on a “breaking” basis so Google “Joran van der Sloot” and you’ll get the latest.

“And now the bombshell breaking news, a disturbing twist in this case right here in the United States. Van der Sloot allegedly paid for his trip to South America by extorting money from Natalee Holloway’s mother.

The U.S. attorney in Alabama says van der Sloot promised to tell Beth Holloway what really happened to her daughter in Aruba in exchange for a big cash payout. Van der Sloot tried to get $250,000 but ended up taking $15,000 as a down payment before fleeing to South America. Van der Sloot today has been charged with extortion.”

Our original story…

Young woman’s body found in hotel, van der Sloot on video tape

How much more evil will Joran van der Sloot do before he is stopped? After confessing to at the very least letting Natalee Holloway die on a beach in Aruba and disposing of her in the sea – possibly while she was still alive, he was next seen trafficking young girls from Thailand to Europe for prostitution.

Now van der Sloot is wanted for the murder of 21 year old Stephany Flores in a Lima, Peru hotel on Sunday night. News stories say there is video of the two entering the hotel room at 5am and only van der Sloot exiting four hours later. The young woman’s body was found by cleaning staff. Reports say she was beaten and asphyxiated.

Joran van der Sloot took a bus to neighbouring Chile and he is now wanted on an international warrant for murder.

The decent thing would be for him to hang himself in some hovel, but something tells me van der Sloot won’t take that route out. He revels in his notoriety.

Thousands Of New Visitors To Our Natalee Holloway Stories – Movie and Joran Van der Sloot Thailand Sex Trafficking Video Drive Interest In Natalee’s Disappearance

Renewed Interest Sparked By “The Natalee Holloway Story” Movie

natalee_holloway_aruba-barbados.jpgA new made for television movie about the disappearance of Natalie Holloway was broadcast on Sunday night. The result — a “perfect storm” on the Internet as renewed interest in the case immediately catapulted the term “Natalie Holloway” to the top of the search engine charts. Our two stories about the case received thousands of hits overnight and the visits will no doubt continue to increase as the day progresses.

As a result of this new interest we’ve learned something ourselves: the suspect in Natalie’s disappearance was recently filmed again with a hidden video camera — this time involved in human trafficking of Thai prostitutes to work in Europe. Joran Van der Sloot was caught out in Bangkok Thailand last November, 2008 by undercover reporters posing as Dutch sex industry bosses. Van der Sloot was videotaped accepting cash to arrange immigration and travel documents for the girls — who believed they were being hired as dancers in the Netherlands at $400 per month.

What a nasty piece of work this Joran Van der Sloot is. As related in our February 4, 2008 story (link below), Van der Sloot was befriended by an undercover reporter and confessed on hidden video that he had disposed of Natalie’s body possibly while she was still alive.

The name Natalie Holloway will be synonymous with the word “Aruba” for the foreseeable future — perhaps even decades into the future if her disappearance remains unsolved.

As a side note, we at Barbados Free Press are reminded every once in a while of the power of the Internet to give worthy stories “legs” — staying power in the public consciousness. Although public interest in a story might fade in the news cycle, when something makes the story current, all the background is instantly available to ordinary people on the Internet. As we have seen ourselves on numerous occasions, these legacy stories can result in tens of thousands of new visitors over a day or two.

In Barbados, the political and media elites still think they can effectively control information and the public consciousness. How quickly Prime Minister David Thompson and his DLP party have forgotten the lessons of the 2007 campaign — when a handful of blogs run by ordinary citizens were probably the tipping point in the fall of the Owen Arthur government and the election of the DLP.
