Geoffrey Philp: Clear Marcus Garvey’s name

Petition to President Obama: Issue full pardon, clear Garvey’s name

Our friend Geoffrey Philp is one of the good people leading the charge to clear the name of Marcus Garvey: a hero, leader and visionary who was persecuted for daring to believe and teach that blacks could empower themselves by standing together economically.

We encourage all to read Geoffrey’s article about Garvey, and to sign the petition to President Obama.

“Our union must know no clime, boundary, or nationality… let us hold together under all climes and in every country…”

Marcus Garvey

“Unfortunately, however, he [Garvey] has not as yet violated any federal law whereby he could be proceeded against on the grounds of being an undesirable alien, from the point of view of deportation.”

J. Edgar Hoover writing to (BOI-FBI) Special Agent Ridgely October 11, 1919

“The first man of color to lead and develop a mass movement. He was the first man on a mass scale and level to give millions of Negroes a sense of dignity and destiny. And make the Negro feel he was somebody.”

Martin Luther King, June 20 1965 while laying a wreath at Garvey’s shrine in Jamaica.

Breaking News: Barbadian Victor Bourne, mother Maria Alleyne Bourne, charged in massive cocaine smuggling via American Airlines

Other Barbadians involved “Arrests not over”

– US Indictments in massive money laundering and drug smuggling through Barbados.

US$300+ million dollar profits being seized by US Government

– “Bourne Organization” kingpin Victor D’Acosta Bourne used violence, threats against witnesses, airport workers, debtors, dealers

– American Airlines personnel involved in smuggling tons of drugs over a 10 year period. Ships also used.

– Drugs came from Caribbean where “Bourne Organization” members placed drugs on American Airlines flights “throughout the Caribbean” including Barbados.

Brooklyn and Barbados businesses used as cover for smuggling, distribution, money laundering.

Drugs are big business and that reality is no different in Barbados – which now finds itself the focus of worldwide attention in the fight against organized crime.

With only three persons charged, but allegations of a multi-country conspiracy heavily based in Brooklyn and Barbados, there have to be some other very worried folks in Barbados right now. We’re talking hundreds of millions of dollars, tons of drugs and violence by a criminal organization that has tentacles “throughout the Caribbean”, according to the US Attorney’s office.

Is this related to the Suleman Esuf case? Continue reading

Barbados prepares for a new political party – Part 1 – How the Integrity, Transparency and Accountability standards changed for DLP supporters

First in the New BFP Series: Preparing for a new political party

When Barbados Free Press burst upon the Bajan political scene back in January of 2006, Democratic Labour Party (DLP) supporters embraced our call for Integrity, Transparency and Accountability (ITAL) in government and legislation to force compliance by the political elites. When we highlighted specific acts of corruption by the then BLP Arthur/Mottley government our DLP friends joined in the call for accountability, criminal charges and generally for heads to roll and effective laws to be implemented.

Domain name “” secured for the DLP!

Many hardcore DLP supporters, including our old (but now estranged) friend Jerome Hinds, were convinced that Barbados Free Press was an arm of their beloved DLP.

I think it was Jerome Hinds himself who advised us during a little têteà-tête in 2006 that the domain name “” had been secured for the DLP so that the BFP team could “go public” after the DLP won the next election.

That was then… when Jerome & the DLP thought BFP’s staff members were DLP first and Bajans second.

But as Jerome and the other DLP diehards soon found out after the January 2008  DLP election victory, Barbados Free Press is the real thing: non-aligned citizens calling for ITAL and a dethroning of the political elites who for too long have treated our country like their own little bank account.

What the DLP & their supporters said before they were elected

Barbados Free Press and its readers continue to attack Prime Minister Thompson’s DLP government for lack of integrity, transparency and accountability. We want answers as to what became of the billions of our tax dollars that disappeared during the BLP government’s 14 years in office. We want answers about VECO’s corrupt activities in Barbados. We want to know who received VECO money when the oil terminal and prison were built. We want answers about GEMS, Hardwood Housing, highway construction, the FBI files, illegal payments to politicians and so much more.

Jerome Hinds and his fellow hardcore DLP friends used to want the same.

What happened to change your mind, Jerome? The DLP winning the election and achieving power?

Ya, that’s what we thought…

From Jerome Hinds’ October 5, 2007 comment on BFP’s article Government Says: Barbados Free Press, Barbados Underground Are Unpatriotic

Bajan Reporter Talks About Drunken Santas, Barbados Asthma Crisis and Kwanzaa

I don’t know where Ian Bourne gets the energy and time to be such a prolific writer. He works by himself and sometimes publishes three or four articles in a day while four of us at BFP often struggle to produce our promised one article a day. I guess that is the difference between a seasoned media professional like Ian and a bunch of normal drunks thrown together like the “staff” at Barbados Free Press.

Ian has a few new offerings posted and even when we don’t agree with him on certain subjects (or like today when he is criticising BFP) we always enjoy his style. Here’s what’s new…

ian-bourne-bajan-santa-has-asthmaDrunken Santa – Is It Bourne Or Not?

Santa Ian weighs in on what it is like to be sweating in a costume made for a chilly New York Christmas while the little brats offer more abuse than one man can take. Then he calls one of Robert’s BFP articles “drivel” (OUCH!). Check it out … (Bad Santa? Bad Children? Bad Parents? Who is the true victim at Christmas?)

What Is Causing The Asthma Crisis In Barbados?

In this piece, Ian reports on a recent BBC television programme that revealed some disturbing information about life and death on Bim. We have a huge problem with asthma – much bigger than many other countries. Something is wrong in Barbados and no one can figure it out. Check it out… (BBC claim Barbados’ new type of lifestyle is clue to rising cases of asthma)

Kwanzaa – The Holiday Created By A Criminal Who Kidnapped & Tortured Women

Ian is getting into the festive season with his Santa piece above and by publicising a “pre-Kwanzaa” party planned in the Virgin Islands. Lot’s of good will flowing at this time of year and that’s great.

Don’t forget… the first principle of Kwanzaa is Umoja – unity of race for blacks. As it says at the official Kwanzaa Information Center: “red, or the blood, stands as the top of all things. We lost our land through blood; and we cannot gain it except through blood. We must redeem our lives through the blood. Without the shedding of blood there can be no redemption of this race.” The Kwanzaa Information Center also notes that the flag “has become the symbol of devotion for African people in America to establish an independent African nation on the North American Continent.”

karenga-kwanzaaKwanzaa’s Inventor

Kwanzaa was invented in 1966 by Ronald McKinley Everett who changed his name a few times and finally settled on Maulana Karenga. Karenga was the founder of the murderous United Slaves movement in the 1960’s and was funded at the time by the American Federal Bureau of Investigation – the FBI – in a warped scheme where the FBI decided the best way to fight the black power movement was to fund different factions to keep them from uniting.

“I’m trying to understand which of the seven principles of Kwanzaa was represented by founder Karenga putting a running hose and detergent into the mouths of kidnapping and torture victims…”

After inventing the racist celebration of Kwanzaa in 1966, in 1971 Karenga and two other associates were convicted of kidnapping two black women and torturing them in an effort to learn if they were working for anyone else.

“Deborah Jones, who once was given the Swahili title of an African queen, said she and Gail Davis were whipped with an electrical cord and beaten with a karate baton after being ordered to remove their clothes. She testified that a hot soldering iron was placed in Ms. Davis’s mouth and placed against Ms. Davis’s face and that one of her own big toes was tightened in a vise. Karenga also put detergent and running hoses in their mouths…”

I’m trying to understand which of the seven principles of Kwanzaa was represented by founder Karenga putting a running hose and detergent into the mouths of kidnapping and torture victims…

At first I thought is was Kujichagulia (Self-Determination) “To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves.”

… but then I thought it would be pretty hard to speak with the hose and detergent in the mouth, so I thought the principle represented might be…

Kuumba (Creativity) “To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.”

After all… clean is beautiful, you know!

But then I found the answer right in front of me. Of course! Karenga had two other black brothers helping him torture the women, so the principle was…

Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility) “To build and maintain our community together and make our brother’s and sister’s problems our problems and to solve them together.”

That’s the principle being illustrated by working together to torture the women!

Happy Kwanzaa to you too, Ian!

The FBI VECO Documents That Mottley and Thompson Don’t Want Bajans To See

FBI Seized VECO Financial Records Show Bribes Paid To Corrupt US Senator Ted Stevens

FBI Seized VECO Financial Records Show Bribes Paid To Corrupt US Senator Ted Stevens

Bookkeeper Told “Leave No Paper Trail” For Corrupt Politician – But It Remained Anyway!

VECO’s financial records would show monies transferred to corrupt Barbados politicians, but neither Prime Minister Thompson nor the previous Deputy Prime Minister Mia Mottley want Bajans to see these records.

Barbados Prime Minister David Thompon has not asked the American FBI for access to VECO’s financial records… nor will he. Thompson will call names and huff and puff, but he doesn’t want to have to start a real investigation into corrupt VECO’s activities with Mia Mottley, Dale Marshall and Owen Arthur.

VECO, the corrupt company that built our new and infamously dry Barbados prison used to bribe politicians as a standard operating practice. After a three year investigation that included wiretaps and search warrants, the FBI laid numerous charges against corrupt American politicians and business people. The latest to come to trial is Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens who was convicted of receiving over a quarter million dollars in home renovations and other gifts from VECO.

Stevens didn’t report the gifts and so now stands convicted. The page of VECO financial records at the top of this article has been introduced as evidence at Steven’s trial. It shows expenses incurred by VECO when it renovated Steven’s home as a “gift”.

HERE IS THE POINT: VECO’s Financial Records Would Show Payments & “Gifts” To Barbados Officials

VECO is a multi-billion dollar company and even though the bookkeepers were told to hide various payments to corrupt politicians – those payments had to be marked down as something so they are all in the corporation’s financial records.

Just like payments to corrupt Barbados politicians would still be in the company’s financial records even if they attempted to disguise them.

Since he gained power ten months ago, Prime Minister David Thompson has not requested to see the FBI VECO financial records – nor will he.

Because, in the end, the DLP and the BLP are a club dedicated to grabbing all they can for themselves… and neither party will put that at risk by ratting out the other. Expect name calling and smear allegations – but real investigations that result in real charges would start a war that neither corrupt political party wants.

Obama Assassination Plot In Denver – White Supremacist Link

“They’re Just Good ‘Ol Boys – Never Meanin No Harm”

Any candidate for the Presidency of the the United States of America faces threats that range from wackos without the means to serious people who have the resources and don’t care if they get caught or die as long as their mission is completed.

Where do the plotters in Denver come in? The story is still developing.

Maybe the world will eventually know the truth about suspects Tharim Robert Gartrell, Nathan Johnson and Shawn Robert Adolf, or maybe it won’t… but in my opinion Barack Obama is likely to face more credible threats than any other Presidential candidate in the last century.

Here are a few links, but the story is developing rapidly so you should check with other sources to see what is happening…

VECO’s “Corrupt Bastards Club” Has A Barbados Chapter

Alaska Politicians Made CBC Caps!

Alaska Politicians Made CBC Caps!

Source: At Least Two Barbados Politicians Received Undeclared “Campaign Donations” From Corrupt Alaskan VECO Corporation

Alaska’s VECO Corporation is now infamous for using bribery of politicians as a standard operating procedure. In the United States, numerous US politicians and corporation executives are facing criminal charges or are under FBI investigation for receiving gifts, loans and outright payments from VECO.

Several people have already plead guilty or been found guilty, including VECO CEO and founder Bill Allen, VECO Vice-President Rick Smith and political big-shots Bill Bobrick, Tom Anderson, Pete Kott, Vic Kohring, Jim Clark and Bill Weimar.

The VECO Barbados Connection

VECO also did over half a billion US$ worth of business with the previous BLP Barbados Government – building the oil terminal and the new prison. Barbados citizens are unclear on the exact amount of tax dollars that was paid to VECO because under both the previous Arthur/Mottley BLP government and the current Thompson DLP Government, citizens have no right to know how much of their money the government spends and what for.

To give you an idea of how VECO typically operated, another one of Alaska’s senior politicians has just been charged by the FBI with various corrupt offenses. It is alleged that Senator Ted Stephens received considerations from VECO Corporation in return for sweetheart government contracts and for pushing through tax laws and other regulations that favoured VECO. Stephens also arranged for VECO to have an inside contact at the World Bank and to receive favourable treatment in an oil deal in Pakistan. Here is what he received that we know about…

– A job for his son.

– The ability to invest US$5000 in a Florida condo which was later sold for a profit of over US$100,000. (Not a bad return on $5000!!!)

– A new Jeep Cherokee vehicle for his daughter.

– A Land Rover for himself discounted by US$20,000 under list price from the CEO of VECO.

– A free generator for his chalet.

Ted Stephens and the others also received hundreds of thousands of dollars in “campaign contributions” from VECO to ensure that they would be reelected. Yup… nothing was too good for any politician who could award multi-million dollar government contracts to VECO. The corrupt company gave cash, renovated homes, bought cars, trips and condos for politicians as their standard method of operation.

That is just how VECO operated worldwide: they obtained government contracts by bribing politicians, but Barbados politicians would have you believe that none of that went on here. No Sir!

VECO’s Corrupt Bastards Club

At one point the bribes were so open that some corrupt Alaska politicians made up hats saying “CBC” – which stood for “Corrupt Bastards Club”.

This is the same VECO that the Owen Arthur/Mia Mottley BLP government of Barbados hired without open competitive bidding to build our oil terminal and our new prison. VECO had never built a prison before, but by god, they were given the contract as a gift by then Attorney General Mia Mottley and Prime Minister Owen Arthur.

Our source says that Mia Mottley received over $100,000 in undeclared “campaign contributions” from VECO Corporation that she fed into her constituency office. This is only what the folks in the office saw and is probably a fraction of the total. After all, if VECO received half-a-billion dollars in government contracts, you can bet that they paid out more than a lousy $100 grand.

Our same source says that Prime Minister Owen Arthur’s constituency office also received big money from VECO, but on the amount they are unsure. Would Arthur have accepted less than his Attorney General that he barely tolerated?

Perhaps Mr. Arthur can advise his fellow citizens from Switzerland, London or Miami – or whatever jurisdiction he ends up retiring to as he becomes a “consultant” to justify his continued income.

Former Attorney General Dale Marshall: Corrupt Bastard

And what did the Government of Barbados do when Barbados Free Press and the other blogs broke the story to the Barbados public that VECO executives and politicians were being arrested? (BFP and the blogs broke the VECO story on the island because the Barbados news media naturally wouldn’t touch a story that showed the government in a bad light.)

Well… good old Attorney General Dale Marshall announced that he would have a meeting with VECO executives to get the truth of the story… to see if any improper payments were made by VECO to Barbados government officials and politicians.

Yup… Attorney General Dale Marshall met with those VECO executives for a half an hour one morning and then held a press conference to announce that everything was on the up and up because the VECO executives said it was.

Whew! We were glad to hear that, Dale!

Dale Marshall: You corrupt bastard. You were supposed to look after the interests of your fellow citizens but instead you participated in a sham of an inquiry and then covered-up the corruption by your BLP friends.

VECO’s Corrupt Bastards Club – Barbados Chapter

So far the known membership of the CBC Barbados includes…

Owen Arthur

Mia Mottley

Dale Marshall

Arthur and Mottley are on the list because they took money from VECO. Marshall is on the list for being a corrupt bastard that covered-up for his friends.

Folks, let us know if there are others who should be on the list. Some of the BFP staff want to include current Barbados Prime Minister David Thompson for his reluctance to investigate the VECO scandal and failure to ask the FBI for access to their evidence against Barbados politicians.

We’re going to consider adding Thompson to the list, but we’d like some input from other citizens first.

Let us know what you think, folks!
