Are you in shock, I am not……….this will soon be happening in the USA too.

  2. The Muslim

I would like the Islamophobe who happens to be the author to prove to me where its authorised and instructed in the Quran to do such things. Oh ignorant one if you know nothing pf Islam ask us the Muslims and stop using this CNN, Fox News Narrative as the Prophet Muhammad said, ” The cure to ignorance is to ask questions.

  3. The Muslim

Its very misleading to say “Muslim slave trade” as no one says “Christian slave trade” in reference to the Trans-Atlantic slave trade in which so many Africans, many of them your ancestors and who were also Muslims, even though Christians were mainly responsible for it.
Here is some info on slavery in Islam that I will post in my next comment

  4. A free Christian man.

The Bible verses where Jesus instructed slaves to obey their masters and masters not to mistreat slaves were based upon social and legal conventions of the the time.Whether this carried on into the present was well debated in the early 19th century and into the US Civil War.

The anti-slavery side won in Christendom.

Not so in Islam where there is no debate. The Koran was delivered in the perfect language, and is correct and perfect then and now: and says that Muslims may take and own slaves. Now.

Millions of slaves are owned today by Muslims, as authorized in the Koran.

Zero slaves are owned by Christians today. Anyone who owns a slave cannot seriously claim to be a Christian.

    Big difference with Islam.

SO “The Muslim”, please clearly state that no Muslim can own a slave today and still be a real Muslim.

    Say it.

    But you won’t.

    Free Christian Man

Would you please give us chapter and verse where, in the Gospels, Jesus spoke the words you attribute to him.

  6. This would be the religion of peace then.

  7. John

The Bible verses where Jesus instructed slaves to obey their masters and masters not to mistreat slaves were based upon social and legal conventions of the the time.

I think these instructions are found in Paul’s letter’s.

Feel free to stop buying Saudi Oil. Canada has more than enough, and sadly, the US doesn’t want it.

  9. The Muslim

Now before some of u Christians start acting all innocent with regards to slavery in the Bible I suggest u calm down; here is slaver in the Old and New Testaments.

    Slavery in the Old Testament

The Bible identifies two kinds of slaves – Hebrew and non-Hebrew and these were treated differently. Hebrew slaves were usually released after a period of time and were treated better. In general, the code for fellow Israelites was that you should never let them suffer extreme and unnecessary hardship; so if one managed to get into serious financial trouble to the point of being homeless, you could make them “debt bound” to you. While easily translated as “slavery”, it was more like getting someone to come work for you for free… oh, wait, that is “slavery”. Anyway, this distinction is usually the lynch pin of the excuses for why the Bible is right to endorse “slavery”; that it’s not real slavery. Even though it pretty much is by any close analysis.
The other type of slavery applied to non-Hebrews is exactly the slavery in the common sense that everyone else uses it in.

    Obtaining Slaves:
If the Israelites wanted slaves they were instructed in Leviticus 25:
Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can will them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly.

    Beating slaves:
Beating slaves was perfectly allowable under the following rules:
(Exodus 21:20-21 NAB) When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property.

    Male Hebrew slaves

    From Exodus 21:2:
“If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to serve you for six years. But in the seventh year, he shall go free, without paying anything. If he comes alone, he is to go free alone; but if he has a wife when he comes, she is to go with him. If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free. But if the servant declares, ‘I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,’ then his master must take him before the judges. He shall take him to the door or the door-post and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life.
It is interesting to note that if a slave wishes to remain with his wife and family he must submit to his master for life.

    Female Hebrew slaves

Female Hebrew slaves were to be treated differently from males. Parents could sell their daughters into slavery. (Exodus 21:7-11 NLT)
When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl’s owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. If he fails in any of these three ways, she may leave as a free woman without making any payment.
    [edit]Slavery in the New Testament

The New Testament makes no condemnation of slave ownership but does have advice for Christian slaves and also regulates how Christian slave owners should treat the slaves they own.
(Ephesians 6:5 NLT) Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ.
Christian slaves whose master is also Christian are told:
(1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT) Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them.
There are instructions for Christian slave owners to treat their slaves well.
Eph 6:9 ) And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favouritism with him. (See also Ephesians 6:7-8)
(Coll 4:1 ) Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven.

Yes, we see that the New Testament says to treat slaves well unlike the Old Testament but “A Free Christian Man” above says that Islam authorises us to have slaves (Please prove that it authorises us to do so; in the context of the time it was allowed but not authorised). well your religion is doing the same. The important word is context and another things is how did the religions try to abolish it. Islam had many laws that seeked to abolish it but it was allowed at the time as slavery was strife among the Pagan Arabs.

  10. The Muslim

Slavery was too fundamental to the structure of Arabian society in the 7th century to be abolished easily. Doing so would have estranged many of the tribes that Muhammad sought to bring together, and severely disrupted the working of society.

“Prohibiting slavery in the context of seventh-century Arabia apparently would have been as useful as prohibiting poverty; it would have reflected a noble ideal but would have been unworkable on an immediate basis without establishing an entirely new socioeconomic system.”
Jacob Neusner, Tamara Sonn, Comparing Religions through Law: Judaism and Islam, 1999

But this was a problem, since Islam placed a high value on human dignity and freedom.

The fact that slavery is a major concern in Islamic law no doubt stems from the prevalence of slavery at the time when Islam was instituted combined with the fact that the Qur’an clearly presents universal freedom and human dignity as its ideal society. Its recommendation that slaves be freed is on the same plane as its recommendation that the poor be clothed and the hungry be fed.
Jacob Neusner, Tamara Sonn, Comparing Religions through Law: Judaism and Islam, 1999

So the early Muslims restricted and regulated slavery to remove some of its cruelties, but accepted that it was legal.

… “The most that shari’a (Islamic law) could do, and did in fact do, in that historical context was to modify and lighten the harsh consequences of slavery and discrimination on grounds of religion or gender…
Shari’a recognized slavery as an institution but sought to restrict the sources of acquisition of slaves, to improve their condition, and to encourage their emancipation through a variety of religious and civil methods.”
Nevertheless, slavery is lawful under shari’a to the present day.
‘Abdullahi Ahmed An-Na’im, Shari’a and Basic Human Rights Concerns, in Liberal Islam, ed Charles Kurzman, 1998

  11. The Muslim

    How Islam moderated slavery

Islam’s approach to slavery added the idea that freedom was the natural state of affairs for human beings and in line with this it limited the opportunities to enslave people, commended the freeing of slaves and regulated the way slaves were treated:

Islam greatly limited those who could be enslaved and under what circumstances.
Islam treated slaves as human beings as well as property
Islam banned the mistreatment of slaves – indeed the tradition repeatedly stresses the importance of treating slaves with kindness and compassion
Islam allowed slaves to achieve their freedom and made freeing slaves a virtuous act
Islam barred Muslims from enslaving other Muslims
Islam also barred the enslaving of non Muslims (in a Muslim state).

Hadiths/Narrations of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him

He will not enter Paradise who behaveth ill to his slaves. The Companions said, ‘O Apostle of God! have you not told us, that there will be a great many slaves and orphans amongst your disciples?’ He said, ‘Yes; then be kind to them as to your own children, and give them to eat what you eat yourselves. The slaves that say their prayers are your brothers.
Be kind to slaves as to your own children…and those that say their prayers are your brethren.
They (slaves or servants) are your brothers, and Allah has put them under your command. So the one under whose hand Allah has put his brother, should feed him of what he eats, and give him dresses of what he wears, and should not ask him to do a thing beyond his capacity. And if at all he asks him to do a hard task, he should help him therein.’
‘There are three categories of people against whom I shall myself be a plaintiff (plaintiff- a person who brings a case against another in a court of law) on the Day of Judgement. Of these three, one is he who enslaves a free man, then sells him and eats this money’.
    al-Bukhari and Ibn Majjah

Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari: “The Prophet said, ‘Give food to the hungry, pay a visit to the sick and release (set free) the one in captivity (by paying his ransom).'”

    Legality of slavery
While Islamic law does allow slavery under certain conditions, it’s almost inconceivable that those conditions could ever occur in today’s world, and so slavery is effectively illegal in modern Islam. Muslim countries also use secular law to prohibit slavery.

The actions of one person cannot be used to generalise an entire religion; u knw how about I use the KKK or Klu Klux Klan as a measuring stick for my views on Christianity. Please some people need to grow up and instead of attacking Islam when you don’t know anything and all u do is visit wikipedia or anti-Islam sites to get your “knowledge” then honestly if u ever refer to yourself as intellectual then u are from that. Instead of being arrogant (i.e the author) and attacking this way of life that was followed by all the Prophets of God including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ishmael and Isaac, David, Solomon, John the Baptist, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad peace be upon them all, why don’t u ask if slavery is allowed in Islam or not based on seeing this pic. Stop making generalisations my friend.

May God shower his mercy and blessings on u all and may God guide those who are not on the straight path (i.e Islam) and continue to guide those who are already following this beautiful way of life known as Islam.

*I may post something else on slavery and slaves in Islam

  12. MY MY MY!

Yes, 2000 years ago in the Old Testament, the societies had slavery.

Slavery existed in North America up until the Civil War in the 1860’s.

Christians were in the forefront of the anti-slavery fight in the 1800s.

Today, Muslims still keep the vast majority of the world’s slaves and they justify it by the Koranic verses that support the taking, raping and keeping of slaves.

Our Muslim friend needs to clearly refute the following Koranic verses and state that they are morally wrong and do not apply today.

    “The Muslim” says:

    “Legality of slavery
While Islamic law does allow slavery under certain conditions, it’s almost inconceivable that those conditions could ever occur in today’s world, and so slavery is effectively illegal in modern Islam. Muslim countries also use secular law to prohibit slavery.”

Bullshit, my friend. Clearly disown the following or STFU!

Islam neither ignores nor condemns slavery. In fact, a large part of the Sharia is dedicated to the practice.

Muslims are encouraged to live in the way of Muhammad, who was a slave owner and trader. He captured slaves in battle. He had sex with his slaves. And he instructed his men to do the same. The Qur’an actually devotes more verses to making sure that Muslim men know they can keep women as sex slaves than it does to telling them to pray five times a day.

    The Qur’an:
Qur’an (33:50) – “O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those (slaves) whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee” This is one of several personal-sounding verses “from Allah” narrated by Muhammad – in this case allowing himself a virtually unlimited supply of sex partners. Others are restrained to four wives, but may also have sex with any number of slaves, as the following verse make clear:

Qur’an (23:5-6) – “..who abstain from sex, except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess…” This verse permits the slave-owner to have sex with his slaves. See also Qur’an (70:29-30).

Qur’an (4:24) – “And all married women (are forbidden unto you) save those (captives) whom your right hands possess.” Even sex with married slaves is permissible.

Qur’an (8:69) – “But (now) enjoy what ye took in war, lawful and good” A reference to war booty, of which slaves were a part. The Muslim slave master may enjoy his “catch” because (according to verse 71) “Allah gave you mastery over them.”

Qur’an (24:32) – “And marry those among you who are single and those who are fit among your male slaves and your female slaves…” Breeding slaves based on fitness.

Qur’an (2:178) – “O ye who believe! Retaliation is prescribed for you in the matter of the murdered; the freeman for the freeman, and the slave for the slave, and the female for the female.” The message of this verse, which prescribes the rules of retaliation for murder, is that all humans are not created equal. The human value of a slave is less than that of a free person (and a woman’s worth is also distinguished from that of a man’s).

Qur’an (16:75) – “Allah sets forth the Parable (of two men: one) a slave under the dominion of another; He has no power of any sort; and (the other) a man on whom We have bestowed goodly favours from Ourselves, and he spends thereof (freely), privately and publicly: are the two equal? (By no means;) praise be to Allah.” Yet another confirmation that the slave is is not equal to the master. In this case it is plain that the slave owes his status to Allah’s will. (According to 16:71, the owner should be careful about insulting Allah by bestowing Allah’s gifts on slaves – those whom the god of Islam has not favored).

    From the Hadith:

Bukhari (80:753) – “The Prophet said, ‘The freed slave belongs to the people who have freed him.'”

Bukhari (52:255) – The slave who accepts Islam and continues serving his Muslim master will receive a double reward in heaven.

Bukhari (41.598) – Slaves are property. They cannot be freed if an owner has outstanding debt, but can be used to pay off the debt.

Bukhari (62:137) – An account of women taken as slaves in battle by Muhammad’s men after their husbands and fathers were killed. The woman were raped with Muhammad’s approval.

Bukhari (34:432) – Another account of females taken captive and raped with Muhammad’s approval. In this case it is evident that the Muslims intend on selling the women after raping them because they are concerned about devaluing their price by impregnating them. Muhammad is asked about coitus interruptus.

Bukhari (47.765) – A woman is rebuked by Muhammad for freeing a slave girl. The prophet tells her that she would have gotten a greater heavenly reward by giving her to a relative (as a slave).

Bukhari (34:351) – Muhammad sells a slave for money. He was thus a slave trader.

Bukhari (72:734) – Some contemporary Muslims in the West, where slavery is believed to be a horrible crime, are reluctant to believe that Muhammad owned slaves. This is just one of many places in the Hadith where a reference is made to a human being owned by Muhammad. In this case, the slave is of African descent.

Muslim 3901 – Muhammad trades away two black slaves for one Muslim slave.

Muslim 4112 – A man freed six slaves on the event of his death, but Muhammad reversed the emancipation and kept four in slavery to himself. He cast lots to determine which two to free.

Bukhari (47:743) – Muhammad’s own pulpit – from which he preached Islam – was built with slave labor on his command.

Bukhari (59:637) – “The Prophet sent Ali to Khalid to bring the Khumus (of the booty) and I hated Ali, and Ali had taken a bath (after a sexual act with a slave-girl from the Khumus). I said to Khalid, ‘Don’t you see this (i.e. Ali)?’ When we reached the Prophet I mentioned that to him. He said, ‘O Buraida! Do you hate Ali?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘Do you hate him, for he deserves more than that from the Khumlus.'” Muhammad approved of his men having sex with slaves, as this episode involving his son-in-law, Ali, clearly proves. This hadith refutes the modern apologists who pretend that slaves were really “wives,” since Muhammad had forbidden Ali from marrying another woman as long as Fatima (his favorite daughter) was living.

Abu Dawud (2150) – “The Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) sent a military expedition to Awtas on the occasion of the battle of Hunain. They met their enemy and fought with them. They defeated them and took them captives. Some of the Companions of the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) were reluctant to have intercourse with the female captives in the presence of their husbands who were unbelievers. So Allah, the Exalted, sent down the Qur’anic verse: (Qur’an 4:24) ‘And all married women (are forbidden) unto you save those (captives) whom your right hands possess.'” This is the background for verse 4:24 of the Qur’an. Not only does Allah grant permission for women to be captured and raped, but allows it to even be done in front of their husbands. (See also Muslim 3432 & Ibn Kathir/Abdul Rahman Part 5 Page 14)

Abu Dawud 1814 – “…[Abu Bakr] He then began to beat [his slave] him while the Apostle of Allah (pbuh) was smiling and saying: Look at this man who is in the sacred state (putting on ihram), what is he doing?” The future first caliph of Islam is beating his slave for losing a camel while Muhammad looks on in apparent amusement.

Ibn Ishaq (734) – A slave girl is given a “violent beating” by Ali in the presence of Muhammad, who does nothing about it.

Abu Dawud 38:4458 – Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib: “A slave-girl belonging to the house of the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) committed fornication. He (the Prophet) said: Rush up, Ali, and inflict the prescribed punishment on her. I then hurried up, and saw that blood was flowing from her, and did not stop. So I came to him and he said: Have you finished inflicting (punishment on her)? I said: I went to her while her blood was flowing. He said: Leave her alone till her bleeding stops; then inflict the prescribed punishment on her. And inflict the prescribed punishment on those whom your right hands possess (i.e. slaves)”. A slave girl is ordered by Muhammad to be beaten until she bleeds, and then beaten again after the bleeding stops. He indicates that this is prescribed treatment for slaves (“those whom your right hand possesses”).

Ibn Ishaq (693) – “Then the apostle sent Sa-d b. Zayd al-Ansari, brother of Abdu’l-Ashal with some of the captive women of Banu Qurayza to Najd and he sold them for horses and weapons.” Muhammad trades away women captured from the Banu Qurayza tribe to non-Muslim slave traders for property. (Their men had been executed after surrendering peacefully without a fight).

Umdat al-Salik (Reliance of the Traveller) (o9.13) – According to Sharia, when a child or woman is taken captive by Muslims, they become slaves by the mere fact of their capture. A captured woman’s previous marriage is immediately annulled.

  13. Remember Muhammad lived the “perfect life” and Muslims must live life just like that. So please read up on your Suri too.
