Can Bajan taxpayers really doubt it? Wildcat strike bus drivers won’t lose a dollar of pay!
The big lesson taught during the recent illegal teacher strike is that no matter what, striking Bajan public employees continue to be paid by gutlass management and government.
This Wednesday morning a couple of dozen Transport Board employees illegally walked off the job without notice and inconvenienced thousands upon thousands of ordinary Bajans who were just trying to get to work to support their families.
Can there be any doubt that the striking Transport Board employees will receive full wages during the illegal strike?
‘Tis the Bajan way!
The Nation: Transport Board drivers off the job

Most peoples thoughts after viewing these egregious Government, Legal and Private Sector abuses which ALWAYS go unpunished these days is “If they can do it, so can I….just as long as I can pay, if necessary, to escape Justice if caught”. See how Society deteriorates with this sort of critical mass thinking gaining daily momentum?
Well over the years I’ve got to chat to bus drivers, kind and friendly as they are. It’s interesting that some moonlight as taxi drivers, whilst continuing on the buses for the sake of the golden handshake and the PENSION! Who can argue with that?
Anyone who goes on the bus regularly can see the difference between the proper drivers and the lunatics, endlessly beeping for no good reason. Some of those surly guys driving our buses need to be sacked whilst the others, who sweetly wait upon late-comer kids and their mothers need a big hug from all of we passengers! One sits there like a big grump as if we owed him a favour, whilst the good guy is lovely to the little ones and helps the rest of us. We love you, Blue bus drivers of Barbados!
Whenever I am in Barbados I drive with fear and trepidation because of the irresponsible way the buses are driven.. I noticed once. that the driver kept his DVD collection in the recess for his speedometer which just about shows how much attention is given to speed and safety by the operators of these buses. Loud music also stimulates irrational high speed I am sure.. so the strike at least takes the danger of the buses from the roads. Perhaps the yellow buses are more dangerous than the blue ones….
