Nation News finally does story on Miles Robertson, Adele’s musical director

Now if we can only get the Barbados Tourism Authority to wake up…

When golden-voiced Adele won big at the Grammys, The Nation did a huge spread on her music and her life…

… but The Nation said not one word about the Barbados-Adele connection:  musical director and Bajan Miles Robertson, who as much as anyone helped Adele to achieve all that she could with the talent she is blessed with.

Barbados Free Press covered the story at the time last February and posted Meet Adele’s musical director: Barbadian Miles Robertson. We also lamented that the Barbados Tourism Authority seems incapable of capitalizing on positive breaking news that is in any way linked to Barbados…

“Maybe we at BFP missed it, but at the moment Miles Robertson with his Adele connection sure looks like another opportunity missed by the BTA at a time when our country needs all the positive vibes and publicity we can get.”

So now The Nation has, as predicted by one of BFP’s readers, followed BFP’s lead and done a feature story on Miles Robertson.

The remaining question is whether or not the Barbados Tourism Authority has what it takes to embrace the free opportunities that come our way. Adrian Loveridge had some thoughts on that back in February. We wonder if Adrian has seen any progress since then.

First I’ve heard of this connection. Opportunity lost I’d say. What a refreshing change to see a female star make the big time using her natural talents as opposed to shocking , drunken and debauched behaviour on stage and in public. Also she covers up . Just goes to show. A certain Bajan female should take note – notice I didn’t say ‘a Bajan lady ‘ .

The Barbados Tourism Authority doesn’t seem to realize that times have changed. The internet is where things happen. They are so 1980’s with their reliance on traditional advertising and their reliance upon old strategies.

    Can we fire them, please?

    BFP,
I would like to say YES!
But sadly, if they have done anything, then they are keeping it very quiet.
The BTA didn’t highlight the TripAdvisor Travelers Choice Award Barbados
winners for 2012, despite just about every OTHER destination in the world that did and now they are keeping quiet about the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Awards despite the 50 million website visitors per month.
And the daft thing is that tis publicity is clearly FREE.

You all really expect that dickhead Elcock to think of anything creative, novel and empowering to Barbados at large? He too busy skimming everything under his purview….

Sorry, typing error – should read ‘and the daft thing is that this publicity is COMPLETELY FREE!’

Barbados the funny Country. You know what I think?
It would be easier to teach a stone to swim, than to teach any of this Authority of Barbados. Why should they do anything? They get the money also when they doing nothing. By the way while the next selection you can change something, But as I said, try to teach a stone to swim, because gives you more fun!

Just noticed that the Barbados Advocate has acknowledged (page 14) today that St. Lucia’s Fond Doux Plantation Resort has been awarded the 2012 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award, but neither of two main newspapers have recognised the BARBADIAN winners.

I read in another source that Trinidad is claiming Miles as theirs as his father is a Trini,- well they own everything of value in Barbados!!!

Why do people expect so much from the BTA? Asking the BTA to do anything remotely sensible is like asking rain to fall upwards to the sky.

So, help me here. What do people think this “musical director” can do for Barbados again? Like WHO IS HE AGAIN? When last you hear a Adele song? stupse. Boy do we like to catch at straws. So desperate for ANYTHING OR ANYONE to help sell Barbados.

Never able to quite find anything substantial, no real creative marketing.

Maybe they should wake up to this also:

Well at least Adele can sing without resorting to the the umbrella of Auto-tune or miming whilst pleasing herself on stage in front of kids
