Mix-up at Grantley Adams International Airport – all luggage switched between two flights!

Thomas Cook flights to Manchester and Gatwick – luggage switch?

Dear Barbados Free Press,

I would like to know, if it is true that on January 29th, 2012 they was a mix-up between two (2) Thomas Cook flights, one going to Manchester and the other going to Gatwick, and the luggage for the Manchester flight was put onto the aircraft going to Gatwick and vis-à-vis? It is time that someone is held accountable for this.

We’ve heard those rumours too… and they are true!

We couldn’t find anything in the Barbados or London papers, but we did find some stories at Cruises.co.uk. Yup, it looks like it happened as you’ve heard. If any of our readers can assist, we’d love to hear further details…

We have just returned from Ventura N201 three hours ago after a splendid cruise.

Unfortunately our return flight (Thomas Cook) to Manchester was delayed for over 4 hours so we were the last P and O flight to leave Barbados when we should have been the first. A few minutes after landing the Captain informed us that our luggage had been loaded onto the Gatwick aircraft and we had the luggage which should be in Gatwick. Needless to say there were a few grumbles. We had to complete a form and then join a lengthy queue to hand it in. Our luggage should be delivered within the next 24-72 hours. Oh well I suppose these thing happen, better to lose it on the return journey than on the outward flight.

Baggage mix up on TCX239

We were on flight to Gatwick and all waiting for luggage at carousel when all bags from Manchester flight were going round and round until it was so full that it stopped. Then an announcement said our luggage had gone to Manchester!! A mad scramble then to get form to fill in. We were told luggage would be delivered within 24-48 hours. What a joke its now 3.45 Monday 30/01/12 and we’ve just found out that luggage will not be delivered until tomorrow. I’ve emailed Thomas Cook who replied with a duff email address and a telephone number that says ‘due to a high volume of calls we cannot deal with your call please call again later’

Anonymous, are you talking about the journalist John Sealy who works for the nation’s paper or the politician? Well, John Sealy the Nation’s paper journalist, taught at Roebuck Boys Primary where I attended way back in the early 1970s, and quite frankly he was my teacher for many years.
