Was I dreaming last night when I heard Mark Cummins of Town and Country Planning?

Was I dreaming last night?

I swear I heard on the CBC TV8 news that Mark Cummins, the head of Town and Country Planning  had been quoted to the fact that NO planning application had been made for either Skeete’s Bay or Foul Bay.

Yet Pure Beach Resort is being widespreadly advertised including with renown estate agent, Sotheby’s in the UK and locally.

I also recall a Minister of Government turning a sod recently.

With the Harlequin Properties potential for destination reputation disaster pending, are we (Barbados) getting a name for for shady projects?

I am surprised that Sothebys would get involved with this dubious project. Smells like another “Overseas Investor ” scam to me.
I don`t know how the Chief TCP can state they never had an application, when Pure Beach Resort People announced that they had received all planning permission. Someone is Lying. Its still on their website! See below.
Can they perhaps supply a copy of the planning permission?

    Greetings!
The Pure Beach Management Team is pleased to announce that following our official approval to develop the land at Foul Bay St. Philip into the luxury Pure Beach Resort and Spa, we have chosen Wednesday October 26, 2011 as the date for the official ground breaking ceremony.

We have now chosen our engineering, quantity surveying and landscape consultants and are poised to begin the substantive work.
A series of events has been planned for our investors and wider stakeholders to formally lift off this landmark occasion. Our official invitation will be forwarded shortly, so please mark this date on your calendar.
One stakeholder initiative that we have launched since approval is our weekly newsletter update. Please ensure that you have our email service approved in your mail client to ensure that our newsletter reaches you. We look forward to developing this exciting luxury development with you.

Barbados’ Town and Country Planning Approval

After three years and hundreds of architectural drawings later, the Pure Beach Project has finally won the approval of the department responsible for land development in Barbados, the Town and Country Development Planning Office.
The process to approval took much longer than the Pure Team had initially anticipated. However we understood what was at stake and stuck to the task at hand to make sure we met the criteria set by Town and Country.
Why was the process this long?
Pure investors are privileged to be building on what is one of the last totally unspoiled and undeveloped beach front property in Barbados. Set also on a magnificent bluff, the property gives an unobstructed breathtaking view across the Atlantic Ocean. Beaches and cliffs are carefully protected by the Town and Country Department and the Coastal Zone Management Unit as important features of the Barbadian heritage.
With our approval our stakeholders can now feel confident that they have invested in a project that has passed the test of one of the most rigorous Caribbean development authorities.

“are we (Barbados) getting a name for for shady projects?”

It’s not a question of ‘are we getting’ but how-far the shady corruption extends. Like I’ve stated before “Barbados has a RULE for Everything and Enforcement of Nothing”. Barbados has a history of FAILED projects, bilked investors and no responsibility taken by the government of the day. The corrupt pocket lining politicians are on the take so only the investor losses immediately, ultimately the country as a whole will feel the repercussions.
