Why is Wikipedia blacked out?

Wikipedia is protesting against SOPA and PIPA by blacking out the English Wikipedia for 24 hours, beginning at midnight January 18, Eastern Time. Readers who come to English Wikipedia during the blackout will not be able to read the encyclopedia. Instead, you will see messages intended to raise awareness about SOPA and PIPA, encouraging you to share your views with your representatives, and with each other on social media.

SOPA and PIPA need to fail otherwise the internet is at risk from USA government decisions that affect us all.

The US government and economy is controlled by Jews, who also own and control most News and entertainment media in the US. This is their attempt to also control the internet.

Today’s statement from Mike Rivero of http://whatreallyhappened.com re. the SOPA blackout:

WRH supports the efforts of those who oppose the SOPA legislation, which is clearly intended to preserve the profits of media corporations who lost their profitability by repeatedly lying to the people. We thought long and hard about whether to join today’s blackout and did not actually make a final decision until early this morning. In the end, we decided that shutting down any alternative media is what SOPA is intended to do, and with all the alternative media shut down it would be a great opportunity for a false-flag attack to take place with no voice opposing the corporate media story. In the interest of fairness to our readers and our advertisers, we will keep WRH open today and from now until the day I die, and a few days after that. We applaud the courage of those making a statement today. Under different circumstances, we would be dark today as well.

  4. WordPress says users have option to black out for 24 hrs, and/or carry a Support badge with activation located in Settings, but I looked in my site’s Controls and did not find same

    Hi Ian,

Thanks for the tip. We found ours and turned it on (the banner at the top right). Are you at WordPress.com or are you on another server? that might be the difference why you can’t find the control.
