Barbados Youth Ambassador Rihanna Tweets: “Foot out dat bitch, ride dat shit like a skateboard!!!”

Why yes, Rihanna is our Ambassador for Youth and Culture and our official Barbados Tourism Authority spokesperson. Why do you ask?

Our BTA paid her big bucks. We Bajans don’t care how low it goes as long as Rihanna says “Barbados” at least every once for every time she says “Shit, Fuck, Cunt, Bitch”. (Dear readers: Are you offended because we published Rihanna’s words, or because she said them?)

And this is supposed to promote Barbados as an upscale tourism destination in what way?

Your Barbados Tourism Authority: out of ideas, out of results and still sucking money like performance measurement and return on investment don’t exist.

“Foot out dat bitch, ride dat shit like a skateboard!!! Thank u to my G’z at RocNation baby!” Riri tweeted…

  1. Embarrassed Bajan

What can we do to stop this continual embarrassment and reminder that Rihanna represents our Crop Over Wuk Up culture too well?

    (big sigh.)

  2. RIHANNA SUCKS SHE HAS NO RESPECT FOR THE ROLE OF AN AMBASSADOR OF YOUTH WHAT A SHAME?

  3. Clam Juice

How much do we pay her? How many new visitors and investors does the use of her image bring to Barbados? What kind of visitors and investors does Rihanna bring to our economy? What is the cost of her brand vs. the performance?

Do we need to pay her to have the media mention that she is from Barbados? Would the media mention her origin anyway? Could Barbados mention that she is from Barbados without paying her?

What studies did the BTA do before committing to spending millions to hitch a ride on the Rihanna brand? What is the net return on our investment in the Rihanna CUNT BITCH FUCK SHIT brand?

30 seconds of questions I just thought up.

  4. charlie aspin

If we need her as an ambassador for culture , then we con’t need an ambassador for culture

  5. akabozik

    Too true Charlie!

  6. just want to know

But isn’t that the culture we now have among the young people in our country Barbados? and even some older persons? just asking.

  7. Rib Bone and Willy

Mebbe it time to open a can of whup ass

  8. Spinelli

She is an embarrassment to Barbados, she makes you ashame to let others know you’re barbadian. Does the word discipline mentioned in the agreement she signed as representative? I am sure her appointment can be terminated, because she sure is not representing our culture. she is a disgraced to our country and to our youth. Please Please who put her there, get her out… I love my country

  9. forreal

Yes I think it was primarly the vision of the high ranking tourism ministry officials that push for this wreck to represent Barbados. The question is really were any studies done to prove whether she is compatible with Barbados’ image. Or was her popularity enough

  10. rastaman

You all forget ,Rihanna did not ask to be an Ambassador for Barbados. She said herself that she is only doing what she knows .The present Govt needs to answer a lot more questions than that one anyhow, but do not hold your breath.

Why You all don’t leave the girl alone? She has come and attain more than you all could ever dream of.She is a “Rock Star” the biggest musical entertainer from the Caribbean since Bob Marley.Bob used to get pressure a lot from Jamaica and Jamaicans for pushing his music and religion.Jamaicans used to argue that Marley’s marijuana smoking and reggae music were not representative of Jamaica and give people in the world the wrong idea about Jamaica.
People that follow Rihanna could not believe that she is Barbados, they are not that stupid.Does Jay Z represent black America? Unlike America we are a tiny country with few resources to compete in the world. We need tourism to keep sending our children to tertiary education free.Rihanna was a fantastic investment for our tourism.Recently she posted some pics of Barbados on her Facebook page which has a following of 40 million .The number of responses in several different languages from thousands that said they would love to visit was overwhelming.
Does anyone here know what it will cost to reach 40 million people one winter season to inform them that Barbados is actually a place on earth and they should visit it in the Winter?
Please go and do the research and find out how much it will cost Barbados, that is you and I taxpayers to reach 40 million people in several major tourism markets simultaneously with the press of a button. Then tell me if Rihanna was not a good investment for you and I ?

  12. rastaman

@Angela Ifill :.Was Bob Marley an Ambassador for Jamaica?

  13. Mervin

Rhianna is not a saint. Why the “france” do you keep on hoping that she will become one? Was I offended by what she tweeted? No! This is what I have come to expect when I read or hear quotes attributed to her. Talking like this is her gimmick. She gets noticed. Here we are again writing about her..

If you don’t want her as the youth ambassador then write to your MPs. If that don’t work, vote for the BLP and hope that they will fire her.

How many tourists visit each year? Demographics? Would I visit Barbados because of Rhianna? No. If that was the case I would have gone to Jamaica many years ago.

  14. Angela Ifill

@ rastaman: Sorry I can’t answer that, I will direct you to the Jamaica Tourist Board that now uses his music to woo visitors to Jamaica.Marley’s home is now a museum and Jamaica’s tourist board encourages tourist to visit his former home on the Island.

Marley when alive smoked illegal drugs:marijuana .Openly cheated on his wife. Fathering many children outside of his marriage.Wore his hair unkempt. Now Jamaica embraces him and uses him in their tourist promotions as he after Marcus Garvey is the most popular person from Jamaica in recent modern history.

Marley was a “Rock Star” and Jamaica ain’t turning their back on their son in life or in death. You all everyday cursing your sister Rihanna. You all too ignorant to see her contribution to the island’s GDP.The little poor girl from Westbury road that used to catch ZR to Combermere has now come and reached where you all would never ever reach. Now you all should be congratulating the girl offering support and constructive criticism. All you all do without just cause is to curse the girl everyday and wish her ill. She’s not beyond reproach but at age 23 our daughter of the soil Rihanna deserves patience and understanding.Imagine you were 23 with millions of dollars and a “Rock Star”.I quite sure you will be telling quite a few people to kiss you ass.

  15. Mervin

How can you compare Rhianna to Bob Marley? Seriously? Bob Marley inspired, motivated and educated the masses with his words and music.

I have nothing against her success or all of the money she earns. More power to her. What I dislike is the way she portrays herself while depicting said words and actions as being representative of all Bajans.

Respect yourself and others. You are not irreplaceable.

  16. reddit@internet.com

Does anyone OUTSIDE of Barbados really care about her status ? I asked a few of my international friends and they don’t even have a clue what the hell a CA is, seems the only ones who does is us,

  17. FearPlay

Congratulations BFP, you’ve done it yet again and should be proud of yourselves. You’ve quoted what suited your purpose from our Super Star’s Tweet in your relentless persecution of Rihanna and unleashed the rabid dogs on her again.
Here is the explanation to what she Tweeted “Foot out dat b***h, ride dat s**t like a skateboard!!! Thank u to my G’z at RocNation baby!” Riri tweeted, quoting lyrics from the Jiggaman’s song “On to the Next One”. The “We Found Love” hitmaker additionally posted a picture of her new car.
Broad minded haters that we are, are now calling for her to be stripped of any official titles she holds on behalf of the Barbados Government for quoting lyrics from a popular song. Get a life people. Rihanna is a reflection of Barbadian youth and who we have raised as children. Go bury your heads in the sand if you want but “She is we”, like it or lump it. If you feel the need to pull down and destroy God knows we have enough failures in the island to do so with. Rihanna, the only international success we have ever produced and we don’t know how to celebrate that.

  18. Will any action be taken besides quoting such inappropriate commentary from the youth ambassador of the historic, heritage-enriched and powerful pride of Barbados? What are the elders and other youth of Barbados saying about this? Money, Power, Fame and Greed are very evident in realities like this. If the BTA paid this artist to represent the country as a youth ambassador and her comments and respective behaviors are not to the will, desire and taste of the people of Barbados, then actions should be taken to encourage and teach her more appropriate commentary and actions to portray-unless this is what is acceptable based on payment by the BTA and all associated with it. This reflects another reason why our youth do not and will refrain from respecting elders and our community…many forget they are youth and that guidance and moral virtues are still important in the 21st century. “When the student is ready; the teacher will appear.”

  19. Look…Just leave her alone….she trouble wunna? The last thing I heard was that the real assault on Bajans ears and pride came last night from our beloved local TV station…..and believe me, that indecent action spread around the globe much faster last night than anything Ms.Fenty has ever done!
Turn your eyes inwards BIM. The real issues are at home.

  20. The Truth Is..

Rihanna has overthrown Lady Gaga for the title of “Queen of YouTube“.

She has obtained a total of 2,033,848,822 video views, which is over 2 million more than the former leader’s total and growing exponentially.

This comes on the heels of Rihanna’s recent crowning of “Queen of Facebook” late last year, where coincidentally she also replaced Gaga.

Rihanna is also the “Queen of Digital Downloads“.

Talk what you want, Rihanna is the worlds Biggest, Most Loved, Most Popular, Most Followed, Most Talked About, Pop Superstar..

  21. just want to know

Shouldn’t we as barbadians be talking more about our schools, and our children who are not getting their education as they should because some teacher who was told to do a job and refused? for a whole term. Come on peoples let us discuss things more relevant to what is happening here, and in this point of time.

  22. no one cares

“Imagine you were 23 with millions of dollars and a “Rock Star”.I quite sure you will be telling quite a few people to kiss you ass”.

Uuuuhh no i would not tell people to kiss my A** if i had millions and was 23. What you are saying is that if you are young and rich you have an obligation to be disrespectful, try expose your muffet all the time and use foul language?? What you are saying is that her only value is $$$ not character, influence offering anything positive at all. This is going to get worst just now. Barbados is going to regret this badly.

  23. jrjrjrjr

I holiday in Barbados twice a year . It certainly isn’t anything to do with Rhianna. in fact if all the Bajans spoke, acted , behaved and dressed like her I certainly would holiday elsewhere. God forbid.

  24. FearPlay

Hey Danny, don’t leave us hanging. What did the illustrious local station do last night to make us proud?

  25. Green Monkey

    @Fear Play
On the weather segment of the CBC’s 7pm newscast one could hear porn video type sounds in the background as the young lady was giving the weather update. It has been posted for posterity on Youtube:

  26. Newbie

    @ No one cares
Well said, as an Ambassador for Barbados she could show a bit more restraint with her public image and language. If she must behave and speak like a fishwife then it would be preferable for her to pick her time and place. This is in response to the fact that she admits that one of her aides complained about her use of gutter language which she considers quite normal for Bajans (like her). BTW, the same youths that are being influenced by the who gives a damn attitude will make Barbados regret lots of things that are being allowed to happen.
    @ Just want to know
Do you really think that the public should be discussing a problem today that reared its head long before today and should have been dealt with. This problem was left to fester by our illustrious leaders and now as usual its about DAMAGE LIMITATION. What is apparent to me is that a big problem of some kind exists due to whoever and leaving the situation to work itself out is just not going to happen SOMEONE IN AUTHORITY NEEDS TO STAND UP AND MAKE A DECISION!!

  27. Get her into therapy.

“SOMEONE IN AUTHORITY NEEDS TO STAND UP AND MAKE A DECISION!!”

How’s that gonna happen?? when no-one’s in charge
(a perennial state of affairs on this tiny island, regardless of whuh Party pretends to be in charge).

Rihanna appears to be suffering from ‘Unloved’ syndrome in her personal life.
After being beaten by Thug, her psyche is presently showing ‘Damaged Goods’.

She needs a loving understanding MAN (over age 30) in her personal life
to help her back to normality.
What we’re seeing is symptoms: she should go get psychotherapy in the meantime -and her handlers should be seeing to that.

She’s still just a kid, way out of her depth!
Her father was a coke freak, but luckily she had a caring mother.
How could she be anything else, right now?

    Get her into therapy.

  28. FearPlay

Thanks @ Green Monkey. No wonder I can’t get my Multichoice repaired since December, staff are obviously too busy.

  29. Rihanna Fan

Rihanna making $$$$ and the stupid bajan making a fuss about her charater and clothing…..do you all think she cares what you people think…stupse…really now….

  30. Do not blame RIRI for the ambassadorship, it was you short sighted former PM who did that to her when it was obvious that she was only in the prime of her obscene star status.
Many visitors flock to barbados annually, NOT because of Rihanna and they will continue to do so in spite of her “potty mouth” The question now becomes what will you do about the heavy title you placed on her? It is obvious that she cannot carry the load. This will teach the silly politicians not to jump the gun next time. Let us remember that the “Merrymen” as unofficial ambassadors to barbados brought thousands of visitors to our beautiful shores.
But I think the saddest part of all this are the so called mature adults who find nothing wrong with her behavior, I wonder what they would say or do if their 15 year old children especially daughters sang this song in their prresence.

  31. 232

I used to be so proud when I told people I was from Barbados….now because of her I don’t mention it anymore.

  32. Jrjrjrjr

Mouth like a sewer . And habits to match.

  33. Culpepper - X

Rihanna is mostly like her generation on the island. What you see on the street these days at crop over? This is what we are at this moment in history. Rihanna represents Bajans of her age.

My personal thoughts on Windows 8 are quite negative and I am not a fan of the direction Microsoft is taking. The Release Preview feels as if Microsoft has ignored most of the negative feedback and keeps pushing for their vision. The improved desktop elements such as explorer & task manager are a great improvement however for a home or work desktop, the metro start-screen IMO is not suitable. My reason for this is the lack of customizatiion it has. Users such as me have become familiar with the start menu and have watched it evolve for years. Tablets should use metro, desktops should use the typical start menu.
