How do grade school textbooks portray Islam? New study may shock you

ACT! for America Education releases alert about forthcoming study

Brigitte Gabriel - President, ACT! for America Education

Eighteen months ago ACT! for America Education launched an in-depth analysis of thirty-eight 6th through 12th grade textbooks, to see how they treated the subject of Islam.

The research has been completed, and what we have found will shock you. The historical falsehoods, bias and other misrepresentations of Islam in these textbooks are egregious and persistent.

We are currently completing the writing and final edits to the report, which will document over 245 errors in these various textbooks.

Here’s a small sample of what we found.

“In Medina, Muhammad displayed impressive leadership skills. He fashioned an agreement that joined his own people with the Arabs and Jews of Medina as a single community.

These groups accepted Muhammad as a political leader.

As a religious leader, he drew many more converts, who found his message appealing.”

McDougal Littell/Houghton Mifflin, World History – Patterns of Interaction, 2007, p.265

This is patently false!

The Jews of Medina rejected Muhammad as a prophet, and as a result he drove two of the Jewish tribes out of Medina and exterminated the third one!

“Shari’a law requires Muslim leaders to extend religious tolerance to Christians and Jews.”

McDougal Littell/Houghton Mifflin, World History – Patterns of Interaction, 2007, p.268

This is so preposterous, so lacking historical justification or support within sharia law, one wonders how it ever got into a textbook.

“The Eastward Expansion of Islam:

In the early eighth century, Islam became popular in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent. …”

Glencoe/McGraw Hill, New York
World History, 2008, pp.285-286

“Became popular” sounds more like a description of a new dance than what happened to the Hindus of India.

Tens of millions of Hindus were slaughtered during the many jihad campaigns launched against it.

Report to be released early in 2012

Rather than release this report as we enter the holiday season, we have decided to hold off until early next year.

At that time we will mail an Executive Summary to every state and local school board member in America, over 70,000 people.

We will then post the Executive Summary and the full report online for downloading, and we will send out national emails with talking points on how to approach your local school board about the findings in this report.

Stay tuned!

Saudi women with attractive eyes may be forced to cover even them up, if resolution is passed

Islamic state fears effect of ‘tempting’ eyes on men

Says it ‘has the right’ to issue repressive edict

Women must already cover their hair and wear full-length black cloak

Women with attractive eyes may be forced to cover them up under Saudi Arabia’s latest repressive measure, it was revealed today.

The ultra-conservative Islamic state has said it has the right to stop women revealing ‘tempting’ eyes in public.

A spokesperson for Saudi Arabia’s Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, Sheikh Motlab al Nabet, said a proposal to enshrine the measure in law has been tabled.

Here we go again, Another anti-Muslim article.

Some background on the obviously balanced and independent producers (ho-ho) of the article:

You seem to have lost your way. I quote from the “about” section of your website:

“Barbados Free Press and other reform-minded folks believe that the only way the culture will change is if the international community starts examining the Barbados government’s actions, inaction and policies with a critical eye in decisions regarding Barbados investments, property ownership and business deals.”

Exactly what does this, and the other anti-Muslim articles you frequently publish, have to do with corruption, integrity, transparency and accountability in Barbados?

  3. BFP

    Hi St George’s Dragon,

Our “about” section is true, but we also write about other subjects too. Like beer, blues, slavery, history, aircraft, freedom of speech, the bombing of Cubana Airlines by agents of the United States of America, abortion, women’s rights, Africa, Chile, Haiti, the slums of Calcutta, Frank Sinatra, football, conservation, lots of other stuff AND how Islamic sharia law is incompatible with Freedom of Speech and the individual rights that differentiate Western society from Islamic societies.

It’s about Human Rights. It’s about truth.

If something interests us or our readers, we publish it.

And if my sweetheart buys me a new Telecaster with Humbuckers for Christmas, I’ll write about that too!

stupse.. we can’t even fix our 2×2 rock.. and we got opinion bout other people

Why is it anti-Muslim to print the truth about what the Koran says, and what the school textbooks say?

St. George Dragon wants no discussion about facts or debate about the Koran or Sharia. Any mention of the “awkward” parts of Islamic beliefs and practises are forbidden according to St. George Dragon.

Thank you BFP for supporting freedom of speech, freedom of religion and for defending the foundations of our society from those who want to dress women in bags and make them subservient slaves to men.

    @ BFP
I agree with St George’s Dragon on the point: What does this “have to do with corruption, integrity, transparency and accountability in Barbados?”
We all know that any kind of controversial news sells and in these modern times produces hits on websites so I cannot condemn you for finding a way of staying topical. However I would like to state that I believe that the problem we are faced with here in Barbados in relation to corruption, integrity, transparency and accountability should be enough to fill your website and any other medium you use with controversial news. Unless you have decided to become mainstream and adopt the same route as the others, in my words “THE SAFE ROUTE OF JOURNALISM”. As to America and the problem it has with Islam, again you should keep an eye on the HOME FRONT and realise that we are also a prime target for the fanatics because of our relationship with with the USA, CANADA and BRITAIN.

  7. WTF?

Court cases are being decided in Michigan, Texas, Nevada and California by referring to Sharia laws (ie: in the dividing of estates where daughters receive less than sons.) This is not right. Sharia laws are often opposed to human rights and the fundamental concepts behind our laws and justice system. This is a dangerous practice that undermines the law, the courts and our freedoms. You want women’s rights to go back to the seventh century! NO THANK YOU!

  8. Newbie

    @ WTF
    I like this!

Maybe we can adopt that as a slogan here in Barbados?

  9. Dan

“And if my sweetheart buys me a new Telecaster with Humbuckers for Christmas, I’ll write about that too!”

God/Allah forbid. Humbuckers in a Tele is a sacrilege. Single-coil only, my friend.

  10. Newbie

America should realise that it is in a religious war with people that are very unforgiving and nothing short of total surrender of Western religious beliefs will suffice.
If Bajans are not careful those same people will soon be making the laws here too because their first agenda is to spread Sharia law worldwide.

Does Chefette sell Halal meat? Still would like to know.

  11. I’ve two question about Sharia Law.

In what part of Sharia law does democracy reside ?

Is there a country, any country in the world governed by Sharia Law, that can hold its own against the societies of the free democratic world ?

  12. Peazle

All these anti-Muslim articles on BFP make me want to give up reading it. As a complete non believer it always makes me laugh when people criticise comments made in support of Islam as lacking historical justification, when they are happy to believe all sorts of statements in support of Christianity which have no historical justification either. What do they want to replace the sections of these textbooks about muslims? – probably “the fact” of Creationism!

  13. GMBIA

Peazle say “All these anti-Muslim articles on BFP make me want to give up reading it.”

The Prophet (PBUH) says “9:29. Fight against those who believe not in Allah, nor in the Last Day, nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.”

Be subdued infidel! Pay the Jizya!

Volume 4, Book 52, Number 177; Narrated Abu Huraira:

“Allah’s Apostle said, “The Hour {of the Last Judgment} will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. “O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.”

These are the words of the Prophet! Tremble and Obey!

  14. jewish propaganda spewed out by slave minded bajans, it was the zionist jews with they 5000 ships, that started slavery, today the slave boy is repersenting his slave master. after 400 years we love and protect our slave master. This is what slavery does to the the BLACK MAN MIND.

  15. Duppy Lizard

@ holly – obviously all your brain cells cock up and ded, that is if you ever had any.

  16. St George's Dragon

Quoting sections from the Koran about killing non-Musilms is fine but for every quote from the Koran, there is an equivalent from the Bible. As a starter, try:
Deuteronomy 17:2-7 (New King James Version) – If there is found among you, within any of your gates which the LORD your God gives you, a man or a woman who has been wicked in the sight of the LORD your God, in transgressing His covenant, who has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, either the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded, and it is told you, and you hear of it, then you shall inquire diligently. And if it is indeed true and certain that such an abomination has been committed in Israel, then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has committed that wicked thing, and shall stone to death that man or woman with stones.

  17. Distant Voice

it’s amazing. We are like children who disagree and end up fighting. This is just the start. We will kill each other for nothing. Beware of the dangers ahead. Check out the Ustasi in WWII, they make Rwanda look like nothing.
All in the name of religion.
Quote from Wikipedia “Some former priests, mostly Franciscans, particularly in, but not limited to, Herzegovina and Bosnia, took part in the atrocities themselves. Miroslav Filipović was a Franciscan friar (from the Petrićevac monastery) who allegedly joined the Ustaša army on 7 February 1942 in a brutal massacre of 2730 Serbs of the nearby villages, including 500 children. He was allegedly subsequently dismissed from his order and defrocked, though when he was hanged for his war crimes, he wore his Franciscan robes.[citation needed] Filipović became Chief Guard of Jasenovac concentration camp where he was nicknamed “Fra Sotona”, and he was given this nickname by Croats themselves.”
The hatred resulting from this was the cause of the war in the same region only 20 years ago
Look up Jasenovac. It will make your hair stand on end. Around one million innocent men, women and children were murdered in this region alone. We must NEVER forget how fear and hatred can spread like a disease. Once the fighting starts this time, it will take more than 10 years. Atomic bombs 30 times stronger than those dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki will be used. The death toll will be unimaginable.
Take the best wisdom that all philosophies have to offer, gather only that which works for the benefit of ALL. Hold it precious. We are all of one human race. Love your neighbour, refuse to kill.

  18. BFP

    Hello St. George’s Dragon,

For all the comparisons that can be done between the Old Testament and the Koran, nothing really matters except the religiously-motivated actions of believers today.

In that respect, there is really no contest. On a scale that is exponentially more than any other contemporary religion, followers of Islam use violence and say that their violence is commanded by their religious beliefs.

Zero equivalency at all in contemporary violence between Muslims and other religions either in scale or acceptance by the majority of adherents. That is reality.

Regarding your stoning passage, that provides an ideal illustration of my point. Muslims still stone people to death and kill thousands every year for being of a different religion, but I haven’t heard of the Jews stoning anyone for apostasy in the last few weeks anyway. 🙂

  19. LOL@islam's idiot followers!

“These are the words of the Prophet! Tremble and Obey!”

oh PLEASE. How freakin brainwashed are YOU, dread?

Who gives a rodent’s rectum whose alleged words they are?
Written by some other desert jerk, writing yet another compilation of desert scribblings that modern day man is supposed to take seriously? -Seriously?

You really need a belief system to uphold your obvious inferiority complex!
-get a LIFE. – Tremble and obey??? lol

  20. Newbie

@ Holly, I take it that you don’t work or live within this modern system, because if you do you should realise that we all are still slaves, SLAVES TO THE SYSTEM. Money and material wealth are our slave masters and we are all governed by the GOLDEN RULE, HE WHO HAS ALL THE GOLD MAKES ALL THE RULES. (BTW), You cannot justifiably tell me that ISLAM do not subscribe to violence, especially against those that do not have the same viewpoint. Take a look at GMBIA’s earlier post (NUFF SAID).

  21. HM

What has any of this to do with the Barbadian education system or Barbados as a whole?

  22. BFP

    Hello HM

“What has any of this to do with the Barbadian education system or Barbados as a whole?”

Considering that Bajan Islamic schools use Saudi-supplied textbooks and textbooks from other sources, and that Jihad is waged on many levels, including by stealth in the education systems of all free countries… Yes this story is relevant to Bajans.

  23. The Gardener

What does right wing, tea party and BFP have in common ????….. Everything!!!
Talk about copy n pastin… nobody does it better than these people.I know a lot of people arent fooled thinking that the person running this site has journalistic pedigree…… come on man we are Bajans, we aint stupid like …..well, you figure it out.

  24. BFP

    Hello The Gardener,

All you can really do is to call names, because you cannot address the truth of the content.

We get that. So does the general public who are not as stupid as you believe.

Have a very nice day. 🙂
