We are brought up to believe in the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, God and Heaven, and Santa Klaus.
The Tooth Fairy is History by about age 7 when all milk teeth are gone.
Easter Bunny is next, when we cotton on to the outright sale of Easter Eggs in the supermarket.
Santa Klaus is perpetuated until about 9 or 10
when most of use realize we’ve been conned

People need to realize that the Quran is the actual words of God revealed to the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, through the angel Gabriel, over a period of 23 years. From the time the Quran was revealed untill now, it was transmitted in its exact form from generation to generation both in writing and by memory. Up until today there are millions of people around the world who have memorized the entire Quran cover to cover in the original Arabic form in which it was revelaed over 1400 years ago. In the Caribbean there are hundreds of people who have memorized the entire Quran in its original Arabic. This is not the case for any other revealed scripture. Therefore it cannot be said that the Quran was written by man, but rather it is the word of God.

Unlike Priests and Pastors, Imams cant go up on the pulpit and interpret the verses of the Quran based SOLELY on their own understanding and desires. They have to first turn to the interpretation of God’s Prophet (pbuh) so they can understand God’s words.

There is no punishment for rape victims in Islam.
Islam is not only a religion, it is a complete way of life. God created us, and everyone will die and return to Him. It is only logical that we live life in the way God commands us to whether it be in relation to the social, political or judicial aspects of our life. So a Muslim us required to turn to the teachings of Islam in every aspect of his life. Why is this a bad thing? Do you want us to live 6 days a week according to our own desires and ignore God, and only turn to God for one day of the week?

Summary Answer:
Those who turn their back on Islam are to be put to death. This is confirmed by the words and deeds of Muhammad. There is no such thing as freedom of belief in Islam.
The Qur’an:
Qur’an (4:89) – “They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them”
Qur’an (9:11-12) – “But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge. And if they break their pledges after their treaty (hath been made with you) and assail your religion, then fight the heads of disbelief – Lo! they have no binding oaths – in order that they may desist.” This verse is speaking of infidels (ie. “slay the infidels wherever you find them” 9:5) who obviously became Muslim to escape the sword, but the Hadith make no distinction of how a Muslim came to be a Muslim. Apostasy is always punished by death.
Other verses that seem to support the many Hadith demanding death for apostates are Qur’an verses 2:217, 9:73-74, 88:21, 5:54, and 9:66.
Advocates for killing apostates have pointed out that the supporting hadith are reliable and thus qualify as law according to verse 4:80 – “Whoso obeyeth the Messenger obeyeth Allah.”
From the Hadith:
The reason why executing apostates has always been well-ensconced in Islamic law is that there is an indisputable record of Muhammad and his companions doing exactly that.
Bukhari (52:260) – “…The Prophet said, ‘If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.’ ”
Bukhari (83:37) – “Allah’s Apostle never killed anyone except in one of the following three situations: (1) A person who killed somebody unjustly, was killed (in Qisas,) (2) a married person who committed illegal sexual intercourse and (3) a man who fought against Allah and His Apostle and deserted Islam and became an apostate.”
Bukhari (84:57) – “[In the words of] Allah’s Apostle, ‘Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'”
Bukhari (89:271) – A man who embraces Islam, then reverts to Judaism is to be killed according to “the verdict of Allah and his apostle.”
Bukhari (84:58) – “There was a fettered man beside Abu Muisa. Mu’adh asked, ‘Who is this (man)?’ Abu Muisa said, ‘He was a Jew and became a Muslim and then reverted back to Judaism.’ Then Abu Muisa requested Mu’adh to sit down but Mu’adh said, ‘I will not sit down till he has been killed. This is the judgment of Allah and His Apostle (for such cases) and repeated it thrice.’ Then Abu Musa ordered that the man be killed, and he was killed. Abu Musa added, ‘Then we discussed the night prayers'”
Bukhari (84:64-65) – “Allah’s Apostle: ‘During the last days there will appear some young foolish people who will say the best words but their faith will not go beyond their throats (i.e. they will have no faith) and will go out from (leave) their religion as an arrow goes out of the game. So, wherever you find them, kill them, for whoever kills them shall have reward on the Day of Resurrection.'”
Abu Dawud (4346) – “Was not there a wise man among you who would stand up to him when he saw that I had withheld my hand from accepting his allegiance, and kill him?” Muhammad is chastising his companions for allowing an apostate to “repent” under duress. (The person in question was Muhammad’s former scribe who left him after doubting the authenticity of divine “revelations” upon finding out that he could suggest grammatical changes. He was brought back to Muhammad after having been captured in Medina).
Reliance of the Traveller (Islamic Law) o8.1 – “When a person who has reached puberty and is sane voluntarily apostatizes from Islam, he deserves to be killed.” (o8.4 affirms that there is no penalty for killing an apostate).

Let me mention just a few verses from the Old Testament and New Testament and tell me what do you say about them:

If it agrees to make peace with you and opens to you, then all the people who are found in it shall become your forced labor and shall serve you. However, if it does not make peace with you, but makes war against you, then you shall besiege it. When the LORD your God gives it into your hand, you shall strike all the men in it with the edge of the sword. Only the women and the children and the animals and all that is in the city, all its spoil, you shall take as booty for yourself; and you shall use the spoil of your enemies which the LORD your God has given you… Only in the cities of these peoples that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, you shall not leave alive anything that breathes (Deutronomy 20:10-17)
Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man intimately. But all the girls who have not known man intimately, sparefor yourselves. (Numbers 31:17-18)
Even in the New Testament we read the following statement attributed to Jesus saying to his disciples:
“I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence.” (Luke 19:26-27)

Others you will find that wish to gain your confidence as well as that of their people: every time they are sent back to temptation, they succumb thereto; if they withdraw not from you nor give you (guarantees) of peace besides restraining their hands, seize them and slay them wherever ye get them; in their case We have provided you with a clear argument against them.?w (An-Nisaa’ 4: 89-91)
Now tell me honestly, does this verses give a free permission to kill any one anywhere? These verses were revealed by God to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), at the time when Muslims were attacked by the non-Muslims of Makkah on a regular basis. They were frightening the Muslim community of Madinah. One may say using the contemporary jargon that there were constant terrorist attacks on Madinah and in this situation Muslims were given permission to fight back the “terrorist”. These verses are not a permission for “terrorism” but they are a warning against the “terrorists.” But even in these warnings you can see how much restraint and care is emphasized.
It is important that we study the religious texts in their proper context. When these texts are not read in their proper textual and historical contexts they are manipulated and distorted. It is true that some Muslims manipulate these verses for their own goals. But this is not only with Islamic texts, it is also true with the texts of other religions. I can quote dozens of verses from the Bible which seem very violent, if taken out from their historical context. These Biblical texts have been used by many violent Jewish and Christian groups. Crusaders used them against Muslims and Jews. Nazis used them against Jews. Recently Serbian Christians used them against Bosnian Muslims. Zionists are using them regularly against Palestinians.

One of our friends was in Michigan on that day you know, and so many Muslims were celebrating and banging pots and handing out sweets in the few hours after 9/11 that the more astute leaders had to go out and stop it. There were quite a few newspaper and tv articles about that at the time. Wonder if they have been purged because now one seldom hears about the 9/11 celebrations in Muslim neighbourhoods in the USA.

Yes, taken out of context it does present a different picture.
The first two scriptures you quoted deal with a command concerning the 7 nations of Canaan – who lived in wicked rebellion to the will of God, burning their children on altars to Molech, sodomy and beastiality – and were marked for extermination by God. They were cut off on God’s command to prevent Israel and the rest of the world from being corrupted (Deut. 20:16-18).
HOWEVER, this is not to say that Israel was permitted or even ordered to treat all other nations the same way. In fact, the Hebrew wars with other nations (except Canaan) were only in self-defense, and Deuteronomy 20:10-15 orders them to offer conditions of peace rather than extermination. (It was a cultural law of war in those days to kill ALL so that no descendant could become an enemy later – and this was true for all nations.)
On the other hand, the majority of Quranic calls to violence are unlimited in scope – and this can be attested to by reading Classical Tafsir (commentaries on the Qur’an). The reality is that Muslims have acted on these passages throughout history, and militant Muslims still do today.
The Jews have never acted on OT passages other than in their original context.
And contrary to what you’ve said, the Crusades were defensive wars in response to Muslim aggression and conquests in which Muslims had already captured two-thirds of the old Judeo/Christian world. The Jews got killed by the Crusaders just for being Jews – much like they are today. The Pope has since apologized for this sin.
As for Hitler and the Nazis, they were inspired by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and an entire legion of Islamists fought under the SS.
