Bajan expat Willis Carlisle Harewood dies in Florida bridge accident

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Willis Carlisle Harewood, aged 70, in Palm Coast, Florida. Mr. Harewood originally moved from Barbados to New York City in the early 1970’s and then to New Orleans where he owned a seafood distribution business. He has family primarily in Christ Church and in the city proper.

Mr. Harewood was an avid cyclist and last Tuesday morning he apparently lost his balance while resting near the edge of a bridge in Palm Coast, Florida and fell to the roadway below.

Besides his wife and daughter and granddaughter, Mr. Harewood is survived by a son, Philip Green, and four more grandchildren in Barbados. Mr. Harewood will be buried in Barbados. A memorial service will be held in Palm Coast shortly after services in Barbados. Mr. Harewood and his wife Agnes have many friends in Palm Coast where they moved in 2003.

His daughter Cassandra said…

“He was an elegant man. He was a gentle man. He loved to sing and to joke. He loved music. He was a provider for the family and our patriarch.”

Our deepest sympathies to the Harewood family.
