Aubrey Inniss from Barbados was one of “The Few”

“Air Ministry, 9th July, 1943.
The KING has been graciously pleased to approve the following awards: —
Distinguished Flying Cross.

Flight Lieutenant Aubrey Richard de Lisle INNISS (42005), No. 248 Squadron…for gallantry and devotion to duty in the execution of air operations.”

Seventy years ago today on August 20, 1940 at 3:52pm, Winston Churchill rose in British Parliament and delivered his famous tribute to the Royal Air Force pilots who kept the Nazi wolves at bay. Bajan expat Willis Carlisle Harewood dies in Florida bridge accident

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Willis Carlisle Harewood, aged 70, in Palm Coast, Florida. Mr. Harewood originally moved from Barbados to New York City in the early 1970’s and then to New Orleans where he owned a seafood distribution business. He has family primarily in Christ Church and in the city proper. Continue reading
