The National Conservation Commission is sponsoring walks at 11 different routes across the island – each to culminate at various beaches or sites managed by the NCC.
There is no further information published online at the NCC website or anywhere that we found giving times and locations etc.
A recent story at Barbados Free Press announced that the National Conservation Commission and the Future Centre Trust are jointly holding a World Environment Day Parish Walk from the Eric Holder Centre in St Joseph to Bathsheba. Apparently there are 10 more walks being held at the same time.

I Kammie Holder have nothing personal against Dr Denis Lowe as is being enunciated within certain quarters. My aim is nation building thus I will not be complicit in No Action Talk Only aka NATO syndrome. We need to stand up as big men and take constructive criticism as a reason for introspection.
The question was suggested why under the BLP I was so quiet, its simply a case of political immaturity.Joining Facebook and being exposed to the blogs from July 2009 looked exciting as a way to speak to elusive politicians.
Its hoped that those of you who are so partisan and talking shit, would realise blind loyalty to political parties and corruption are the root of Jamaica`s problems today.
Wunna, need to speak the truth to unna BLP and DLP politicians friends if dem lazy, tell them botsie so. Where the hell is George Hutson is he dead?
The schedule seems to be long on PR activities, but woefully short on anything that will result in meaningful change to the way the environment is treated in Barbados. Without real action (and not just talk of action) and involvement from the government, efforts of The Future Centre and other environmental groups will yield little long term results, I’m sad to say.
What will be, shall be…
John its commendable but an empty schedule nothing to assist with behavioural change.
“Hundreds of children from the 4H movement are involved in the growing of seedlings and planting of trees in an effort to beautify and stabilize coastal areas in Barbados. On Saturday 4H children planted over 1200 trees on the East Coast where the soil had been slipping in part due to the lack of plant roots and cover.” July 2009

Nearly one year on,does anyone know how many tress survived etc?
An excellent opportunity for an enterprising investigative journalist to do some research and report to us. Was that very commendable enterprise followed up? Should it become an annual event? Just how many trees have survived/flourished?
Check page 10 of the Sunday Advocate 30.05.10. There is a thought provoking column by Mr. Orlando Marville regarding the much talked about West Coast Sewage Project and sewage disposal in general.
Just came from the supermarket and wanted to buy a sweet potato and a butternut squash FOR SOME STIR FRY. Was quoted $7.98 for one sweet potato weighing 1lb and $4.21 for the squash weighing 8ozs.
Tell Michael Lashley and Haynes Benn that for me. People it gine get worst, for neither the DLP or BLP takes food security serious. Political Pimps and Yardfowls cuss me all wunna want ah gine speak the trute. Houses over food, smart!
Went to a golf lesson this morning and could not help but think how our lands are appropriated for the wealthy. A glass of coke cost $7.50, thus food prices are not a bother them.
Well Kammie, the Prime Minister was reported as saying earlier this month that 180 acres of agricultural land was going to be removed from agriculture for a massive housing, hotel and commercial development etc in the North.
Not a squeak out of Haynesly Benn or James Paul.
From the DLP manifesto:
“In the first 100 days introduce the Agriculture Protection Act that will require
a 2/3 majority of both houses of parliament
for a change of use of land from agriculture”.
Any comment from WIV on that maifesto promise?
We need more men like retired judge John Connell who would tell his government them doing foolishness and vote accordingly.
Wunna know Errol Barrow the consumate leader would have no dissenting ministers so he fired him but John Connell put country before party. Thats a true statesman!
How the hell with Zero Lot Line and a high mortgage people gine eat healthy. Yah between a rock and a hard place no room to plant vegetables and cost prohibitive.
I like Michael Lashley and he is my friend,I think he is one of the most hardworking ministers unlike George Hutson.
The prices real hot in trute and getting hotter. Owen Arthur was accused by David Thompson of being in bed with the distributive sector (see Nation newspaper of Nov. 5, 2007) so he was unable to bring down prices.
I wanna know who David Thompson in bed with now???? Tell me, please.
And true dat, where is the Agricultural Protection Act? Another manifesto pledge gone through de window.
I wanna hear Dennis Kellman on dis cause he back-tracking and sommersaulting, not to mention mekking 360 degree turns on all he use to holler about under de BLP.
180 acres of we land in St. Lucy – land dat used to be planted in sugar cane, yams, sweet potatoes, cassava and sometimes cotton – all now to be taken up wid concrete.
Who are the people behind this project – is is true dat Evelyn Greaves (former DLP minister), Ashley Toppin (Kellman right hand man at North Stars) are part of the team?
I gine got a lot more to say bout dis in time to come!!!
