Mia Mottley Speaks with great style and fervor! Oh… you wanted substance?

As reported in the Barbados Advocate, Mia Mottley spoke at Trevor Prescod’s nomination meeting last Sunday:

Mottley urged “this island is crying out for a new type of government”, elaborating that Barbados “deserves a new politics and a new form of development” and reassuring that “the long march has started tonight”.

Hmmmmm…. “crying out for a new type of government”, “new politics”, “new form of development”

That sounds very inspiring. So very, well – NEW!

“New” is the number one attractive word in marketing. It’s New! Buy Now!

It would be sooooo nice to hear some substance once in a while from Mia, because most of the time she comes across like she’s selling the same old laundry detergent in a new box.

Which, of course, is closer to the truth than Mia and the BLP care to admit. Same old, same old ’bout hey!

As minister responsible for broadcasting…. Mia Mottley old politics gave us a NEW meaning to CBC…….!!!

    Can B**e C***

There is simply nothing shockingly NEW about Mia Mottley anymore.

  2. reality check

The mismangement issue is enough to chew on Hate and Arthur was no paragon of virtue.

If there was a time in Barbados ( maybe the 50’s ? )when Barbadians received full disclosure and audited statements from all government and quasi-government bodies, then maybe we need to go back and ask for OLD because there is no one existing today in Parliament who is credible.

    Hi BFP,

You missed the DLP second in the series of “Constituency Conferences” held at the Foundation School last evening.

Over 600 persons in attendance and all were treated to a great display of Democracy and Accountabilty at work.

Kudos Hon. John Boyce & Hon. Steve Blackette ( his presentation on 17th Jan, 2010)

When I asked many of those present after such a programme is there any need for ITAL…..given all the challenges in countries that have tried to implement such.

Of course over 90% of BEES / DEES present sounded a big NO…no need for ITAL if these conferences continue as they are.

I suspect BFP will say differently.

That is toss of the coin !

  6. Meetings are not accountability

Love has the mistaken notion that public meetings are equal to accountability. It is true that the meetings allow some citizens to address some elected officials in public to a limited degree.

Accountability is when the citizens are able to legally acquire access to government records and are then able to use those records to, for instance, ask informed questions of their officials, or publicize the information or as a last step take action in court.

That is accountability. What love is talking about is almost a Public Relations meeting where about 60% of what happens is as carefully scripted as any soap opera.

Meetings are not accountability…what you attempt to chide….is far superior than the legacy of Owen Arthur years as PM.

Vote DLP all the way .

I note with glee that you are celebrating 4 years in office !

If I were to identify one let down over those 4 years….it would have been your failure to publish your long promised Money Laundering story on 13th March, 2007.

I guess like most polticians you find it difficult to deliver on what you promised.

I really do not see how you can continually berate the DLP gov’t on ITAL and Freedom of Information LEGISLATION when you yourselves did not live up to your promise.

    ***************************************

    WHAT,

You are so right…I forgot that the BLP got the support of :

    * Mabey Johnson ( the convicted bribers involved with VECO & ABC highway scandal ) !

    * The prinicipals of HARDWOOD HOUSING Inc. (who stole millions $$$ of Barbadians/taxpayers money and delivered no houses) !

    * Mr. Rodney Wilkinson who misapproiated millions $$$$ of taxpayers monies in the GEMS scandal ( According to the late Bree St. John – a honest and die hard BLP ite ) !

So it is clear to all in Barbados that WHAT knows what ?? he is talking about when it comes to the BLP.

    Mama Mia,

Where is the BLP arch criminal….Alex Fergusson today ?

The headline screams “Mia Mottley trying to muzzle Arthur” !

Well , well Barbadians were told by this arch criminal Fergusson, that the BEES are united more than ever under MOTTLEY !

Well then again….he did not tell us…who was really UNDER Ms. Mottley !

But surely Ms. Mottley demonstrates that she is not ready to lead a country….now that she is unable to rein in her BLP Parliamentarians.

    It is a SHAME !
