Barbados Parlimentarian Dr. William Duguid Moves To Canada – Continues To Collect Salary!

Christmas Comes Early For Dr. Duguid, But Isn’t That Dishonest?

duguid-barbados-christmas-santa.jpgDr. William Duguid has shut down his dental practice and moved his family to Canada, according to an article in The Nation. The dear doctor hasn’t been seen or heard from in months – not in Parliament, not at his dental office, not at his home. Not at his constituency office.

In reverential homage to generations of Bajan politicians, William Duguid continues to draw his salary for representing the people of Christ Church West while he and his family are living in Canada.

BLP Interim Leader Mia Mottley says its not so, but neither did she produce a living, speaking Duguid to talk with the news media – who can’t find him anywhere. And Duguid’s heir apparent, Dr. Maria Agard, says she has no idea when he will be returning from Canada.

That’s ok, Maria – his constituants don’t have any idea either.

duguid_barbados-mp.jpgDr. Duguid Confirmed Violent Internet Threats Originated From Barbados Parliament

As we revealed in an article a year ago…

“Barbados Free Press, Barbados Underground, Keltruth Blog and other Barbados-based blogs have for the last year or so seen threatening comments left by a group of persons who are rabid supporters of the previous BLP government. These threats are serious. There were threats to burn down Mr. Loveridge’s business, and these threats were followed by arsons against his hotel…

Many of the threats came from a computer at the Barbados Parliament that is used by MP William Duguid. This was confirmed by none other than the Secretary General of the Barbados Labour Party, Doctor William Duguid, himself...”

You can read some background on the threats and Duguid’s confirmation of their source in BFP’s June 22, 2008 article COVER-UP: Royal Barbados Police Force Ignores Violent Threats To Businessman

Where did he move to in Canada? Does anyone know?

  2. de gap

Outrageous! This guy is a piece of garbage!

Mr Duguid is NOT a “piece of garbage” but he might be a crook if he is in Canada and still drawing his pay from Parliament.

  4. Juris

BFP is certain that he is still collecting his salary, aren’t you BFP?

  5. The way Jose y Jose:

Collect the money up front from Crab Hill, and then keep below the parapet when the rocks pelt.

Will Ms Mottley address this issue?

  6. John

MIA says “But obviously if his family lives overseas, he will be in and out,” she told the WEEKEND NATION.’

This sounds interesting. A member of parliament commuting between Barbados and Canada.

“OTTAWA, June 5 (Reuters) – Canada’s unemployment rate spiked to an 11-year high in May as the worst recession since World War Two led to massive lay-offs in the factories of Ontario, once the country’s manufacturing powerhouse.

Statistics Canada said on Friday the net job losses in May totaled 41,800 and the unemployment rate jumped to 8.4 percent from 8.0 percent in April.

He is a dentist so he will find a job easy.

“MIA says “But obviously if his family lives overseas, he will be in and out,” she told the WEEKEND NATION.’”

Hants, you mean Duguid is IN and OUT like Mr. Byron in Lowdown’s calypso “Snout-In, Snout-Out, go, Mr Byron, go! Snout-In, Snout-Out…….” ????

Mr Byron bought two piggies, to forage and root about; the male he called him Snout-In, the girl he called Snout-Out. Schoolchildren passing each evening, would mock old Byron’s call; had the poor man fretting, every time they bawl:

“Snout-In, Snout-Out, go, Mr Byron, go! Snout-In, Snout-Out, how yuh snouting so?” The old man couldn’t take it, and, as the pigs get fat, Byron ups and sell them both, and say he done wid dat.

So Byron bought a trombone and to his gallory would go, trying to hit the high notes, trying to get down low. Them schoolchildren start the same refrain, poor Byron could not hide; every time they pass his way, they mocking the trombone’s slide:

“Snout-In, Snout Out, blow, Mr Byron, blow! Snout-In, Snout-Out, how yuh snouting so?” Byron get all upset, they wouldn’t leave him alone; he get blue vex one bright day, and sell the damn trombone.

So Byron took a new wife, a sweet and charming bride, the schoolchildren couldn’t mock him, cause he did his do inside. Till one day they raided his mango tree, in the middle of a pouring rain; peeped through the window and saw Byron, and started to chant again:

“Snout-In, Snout-Out, no, Mr Byron, no! Snout-In, Snout-Out, you shouldn’t be doing it so.” Well, I thought the worst and climbed up too, but the truth now must be told; Byron was drinking a mutton soup with his mouth inside the bowl!

    (An’ they going) “Snout-In, Snout-Out, whoa, Mr Byron, whoa . . . “

For ten month DLP Ministers did no work prompting PM Thompson to reshuffle his Cabinet.

Two Wednesdays ago, the Senate statrted at 11:16 a.m., and finished at 1:16 p.m.,

What is the DLp doing for its pay. When you figure it out, please share it with Barbadians.
