* The above racist and threatening comments were left today by the same people who previously threatened to murder Adrian Loveridge and his wife, and arson their hotel. The first comment came from IP 69.73.204.62, but when we blocked it the person returned six minutes later from IP 69.73.221.205. Both are Cable & Wireless (Barbados) Limited accounts.

Barbados Police and Cable & Wireless Do Nothing About Murder, Rape, Arson Threats Against Business Owner

Barbados Free Press, Barbados Underground, Keltruth Blog and other Barbados-based blogs have for the last year or so seen threatening comments left by a group of persons who are rabid supporters of the previous BLP government. These threats are serious. There were threats to burn down Mr. Loveridge’s business, and these threats were followed by arsons against his hotel.

“It really makes you think with all the evidence that the Police have been supplied with, WHY the reluctance to act?”

… Adrian Loveridge, September 27, 2008

As you can read in our May 25, 2008 article Barbados Police Continue To Cover-Up Threats Against Adrian Loveridge, Court Witnesses, Blogger – the Royal Barbados Police Force are engaged in a cover-up because there are big names involved, and the object of the threats was to intimidate political and media opponents of the Barbados Labour Party.

Many of the threats came from a computer at the Barbados Parliament that is used by MP William Duguid. This was confirmed by none other than Doctor William Duguid himself. (Dr. Duguid’s comments are here)

Cable & Wireless (Barbados) Limited provided the police with the information about who was doing the threats, but the police did and do nothing.

Cable & Wireless (Barbados) Limited know who is doing the threats and should have cut off that person’s internet account – but they refuse to do so.

Consequently, the threats continue.

Adrian Loveridge wrote directly to Commissioner Dottin of the Royal Barbados Police Force, but didn’t even receive the courtesy of a reply. You can read Adrian’s letter in our June 22, 2008 article COVER-UP: Royal Barbados Police Force Ignores Violent Threats To Businessman.

Bajans would be foolish to think that what happened to Adrian Loveridge is not noticed by other foreign investors when they consider where they would like to invest in a business.

Can anyone explain the action that I am sure existed during the rein of mottley and arthur and this was the habit of tapping into peoples phone and internet communications ?

To me this was an act that was as low as one could reach, when a former gov’t could see it necessary to intrude in persons private conversations and internet communications.

I speak with a certain knowledge and from a first hand position so I know of which I speak.

Guys, for the last time. IP addresses != overwhelming evidence.

Stop the speculation VIW backward. If you are not being advised, you are knowledgeable of so-called facts. Now tell us the real facts about our Inflationary Rate and the true figure regarding Unemployment. Whilst at it give us the Financial position to quell our curiosity.

  4. Tell me Why

Here we go again, elections won and we are still talking of blame. This look like political manipulation from someone who is accustomed to creating havoc and smoke screens. Ask who confused the Antiguan electorate prior to Spencer elevation.

    BFP says,

What you call blame, we call justice. Besides… the threats continue.

So it is ok that the police do nothing about threats of arson (followed by arson), threats to murder and rape? Ok with you, right?

  5. Tell me Why

Stop the shifting. This is far from I being Bovell, I am knowledgeable of the propaganda against Spencer. You love reading and cutting and pasting. Read between the lines my friend. You could be the wall between Antigua and Barbados based on your past behaviour.

Many member s of the RBPF can’t chew gum and walk at the same time much less think so why anyone is surprised when they cant be bothered to look in to threats against some foreigner.
They got more important things to do -like abusing the public ,and harassing rastafarians to go about er in -vest- igating.

    @ 181,

Mr. Thompson told the United Nations, “Barbados believes that those responsible for the crisis, and who also created, controlled, and manipulated the global financial system for their own advantage, cannot now be trusted to heal it.”

Really! Who is responsible for the current mess in the Barbados economy?

I expect that apologist for this “tired” Government will tell us about world oil and food prices. But for the last one hundred years, Barbados had no control over them and never will?

Prime Minister Thompson’ petroleum price increase; his inflationary budget, compounded by his poor judgment and bad decisions (hence, his failure to introduce a targeted stimulus package to promote economic growth) is the real reason our economy is in the crisis – he admits, it is in.

While our PM has been frequent flying and enjoying the Office of PM, Miss Mottley has been making worthy suggestions in the national interest.

The Dems are blue vex and disappointed that Miss Mottley in way ahead as the person who is dealing with the concerns of Barbadian. Hence 181 unprovoked attack, which is hardly worth paying $156,000 for.

The question is! When is government going to do something “meaningful” and “tangible” about this “vexing question” of the cost of living?

    Dear 181:

You wrote “I speak with a CERTAIN KNOWLEDGE and from a FITRST HAND position so I know of which I speak.”

Since you speak from a first hand position and with certain knowledge it leads me to ask:

    “Were you the wire tapper?”

If so would you please surrender yourself to the nearest police station. It would be wise to be accompanied by a lawyer or a family member, better still by a family member who is a lawyer.

  9. Tell me Why

“Barbados believes that those responsible for the crisis, and who also created, controlled, and manipulated the global financial system for their own advantage, cannot now be trusted to heal it.”
    ………………………………………………………………………………….
Opps! What a risk he took making such a statement on the podium of the said country. The PM definitely need someone based on protocol to read over his script before puttin’ his mouth in gear.

181 you should no better, but again………………

Threats are cowardly and criminal acts are WRONG whether they are directed against a Bajan or a foreigner.

However foreign investors are pragmatic people who know that foreigners are no more likely to come to harm in Barbados than in their own countries.

IP numbers are not compelling evidence of who committed the threat. We are all supposed to lock our computers when not in use by us. But all of us are sometimes careless/forgetful/negligent/only human.

Like condoms and HIV. We know that we are supposed to use condoms if we do not know the status of our partner. But all of us are sometimes negligent/careless/forgetful/only human; and so we have an epidemic.

I do not know that a jury could convict based on ip numbers alone.

I’ve know Jedder Robinsonof the RBPF for decades and he is a decent hard working man.
I’ve met Adrian Loveridge once or twice and he seems like a decent hard working man.

    J neither B nor D; potential juror

    *********************

    BFP says,

    Hi J.

Supt. Robinson is probably a decent fellow – but when ordered to not investigate, that’s exactly what he will do… no investigation.

There was no investigation. No interview of the victim. No seizure of computers for forensic examination by the police officers trained in this. (Yes the RBPF has such officers)

And don’t forget that Adrian’s place was arsoned AFTER the threats to burn down the place were made!

Yet he was never interviewed by police.

Yup… after Dr. Duguid publicly admitted that his computer at Parliament was one of those used to make the threats, the police did less than nothing. They wouldn’t even reply to Adrian’s letters and emails.

I’m sure you get the picture.

As to foreigners being pragmatic, yes they certainly are. But the lesson they have learned from the Loveridge threats is that if a politically connected person threatens to burn a foreigner’s business or rape his wife, the Royal Barbados Police Force will engage in a cover-up rather than bring a connected person before the courts.
