Vasbert Drakes Returns To Barbados After Coaching Stint With Emirates

Cricketer Back To West Indies

Despite his stern appearance in the photo, Vasbert Drakes is considered one of the nicest guys in cricket (at least according to the Flickr account we nicked the photo from!)

Vasbert is a (very) fast bowler and is returning to Barbados from a three-month coaching contract in the Middle East.

Glad to have you back, Vasbert… and from what the Dubai newspaper says, it looks like you will be missed in the land of oil, sand and big money.

Welcome home!

He was/is one of the great fearsome WI bowlers, in the vein of Ambrose. Pity the selectors and team politics made his career less than it could have been.

    Happy for Vasbert.
Now change of subject. Samarra Omar Smith 25yrs on Murder Charge for the cold blooded killing of Keisha Nikita Perch 22yrs. This @#*%& is GUILTY and we have witnesses. POP HIS NECK.Do not allow the pundits in the justice system to sit on this for the next decade. CHOW.

He is a true professional. If I were him and I was offered a long term contract with the United Arab Emirates I would go for it. I wish him all the luck. Yes, he played for the West Indies but I believe his tenure should have been longer.

Drakes is a good coach. I am glad that he is able to capitalise financially(into the real money) at this stage, even though he might not have been able to do so in his playing days.
But let’s be honest, he was a mediocre player who could not maintain a steady place in the team.

You keep lookin fwd. to that day, Bimbro.,
    when Bajans learn to smile..
smile willingly and from an inner joy.

    You keep waiting.
Don’t hold yer breath while waiting,now..

First of all they have to get happy with themselves, internally,
before that gorgeous smile cam manifest on the outside.

It’s a whole national psyche thing that you prob. wun’t onstan

  15. Bimbro

Thanks for that, Anonymous. All I can say now is, “poor them, then”!!

    Yup.
    Poor downtrodden, malcontent Them!
‘Woe is me’ is the national(personal) motto.

    Axe a Bajan ‘How’s things?’
the best you’ll get is a “Not too bad”.
    That says a lot.

    So many glasses are half-empty.
It’s a mindset we need to improve
