  1. Justice

So I take it, BFP, that you endorse the views of every blog listed on your site? Be careful, the BLP is the government in waiting and I would not want to think that one day we could have a murderous, racist administration. BFPE is just a crackpot who seeks attention. What you, BFP, regard as proof is amazing.

    **************

    BFP says,

IF we were informed that a blog on our sidebar was threatening murder, we would remove the blog from our list.

But according to you, its ok for the BLP to continue to list a blog that threatens murder.

Well… “Justice”, I guess your standards are much lower than ours.

  3. The so-called “link” between BLP and Threats of Violence is tenuous in the extreme. Farfetched to absurdity.

Just because one or more irrational BLP supporters made stupid, criminal, racial- threats anonymously does not make BLP party to them.

Unless you go so far as to say that it constitutes Tacit Consent by BLP not to have come out and disassociated themselves from the threats in every way. BLP (as a political body) may not even be aware of the threats, for all we know.

If they are aware of the threats (by having commented somewhere on them) then I would agree they are obligated to condemn them, or otherwise be accused of (remote) complicity.

    ***************

    BFP says,

    Hi Deb,

The BLP is well aware of the threats. Formal complaints were made to Prime Minister Arthur and Police Commissioner Dottin way back in November.

First of all, there threats are not anonymous: the police traced the person(s) responsible but have not laid any charges.

The Exposed blog also threatened to arson Adrian’s hotel, and there have been two arson fires at the hotel since that time… along with a break in and a ladder up against Mr. & Mrs. Loveridge’s bedroom window at 3am on night.

Couple all that with the fact that the BLP Tourism Minister had Adrian Loveridge fired from his job as a journalist with the Barbados Advocate – and you have enough evidence to show that BLP are knowingly endorsing and protecting persons who have made threats of violence and arson and possibly carried them out.

All to harass a political opponent.

This is a dangerous precipice in Bajan politics and the BLP continues to endorse the Exposed blog to this day.

  4. I also have come under threats a few times from the cretins – first time was for praising an innocent animal story from BFP; next was when I linked via grammar and syntax patterns that a number of fake names were really that shadow entity and thirdly after elections, I went on their site on Jan 17 to ask them if they’re not gonna shout their infamous “Cuatro Amores” slogan…

  5. Fool me once

That BLP did not bend over backward to dissociate itself from the vile BFPE blog says it all. Of course they were so out of touch that they actually thought they would win the election.

It is hard to believe that even under the new government nothing has been done to prosecute those who sent the threats. Hopefully they are not more of the same.

  6. View from the edge

This is old news. Way it is when you make a big up mad he gonna get you. Been happening for years. Complain to the police and they laugh and go back to snooze.

  7. no name

Threats may have been happening for years but are still just as unacceptable and intolerable.

  8. Tell me Why

BFP, please delete my article that is in moderation and replace it with this corrected version.

BFP, Have you ever stop and ask yourself one simple question like ….Why am I harping that these IP’s are bona fide members of the BLP? Do you have facts that the IP’s you have are really these so-called people? Have you check to find out if these IP addresses are legitimate?

Let me state that IP addresses can be changed. By turning off the modem or changing them manually. We also have to look at IP Masquerading where you can connect to the internet using someone else’s wireless modem, especially the fast connection.

You can get an innocent person IP address by using that person’s email header, that header will then give you that person IP address, you can then manually change your present IP address to that unsuspected new IP and post your threats etc to the same BFP and presto, BFP will them be blaming the poor BLP for such threats and the real perpetrators are laughing their guts out.

This is why Cable & Wireless will not be able to give reliable facts to the Police. I am a realist and I find it stupid, far fetched and totally absurd to place the blame on a party who was in Government and by using such tactics, it would be suicidal. Now the party is in opposition, why will someone continue to use threats. Come on people, I bet no political party would sanction such outlandished propaganda.

I am just sick with this constant blame by BFP. Start doing some research on the subject of IP addresses and see how people can abuse them.

    **************

    BFP says,

Hello stupid. You might be stupid, but we’re not.

Every day police forces and other agencies around the world work in co-operation with Cable and Wireless and other ISPs to locate and arrest persons engaged in child pornography, fraud, money laundering, extortion, terrorism and a host of other offences. It is an every day occurrence and the mechanisms have long been in place. Insofar as the IP numbers being switched, it doesn’t matter because all ISPs have logs that relate right to the second. Not to mention that the ISPs have the capability to look in on any one’s internet activities and do it legally because it is part of your conditions of service. It is done all the time.

So don’t give us no BULL story about can’t.

    It is all about WON’T.

Now run along an make more excuses about why the official blog of the Barbados Labour Party continues to link to a blog that threatens murder and celebrates arson.

We don’t buy your BULL story. Massa day done an NEW MASSA day done too.

  9. Tell me Why

Not to mention that the ISPs have the capability to look in on any one’s internet activities and do it legally because it is part of your conditions of service. It is done all the time.
    ………………………………………………………………………………….
You seems to have a problem with the operation of an ISP. I will not lower myself calling you or anyone stupid if I fail to analyse a problem like in your case. I can see that you are totally paranoid with this IP and ISP issue and you are only looking at the hardcore criminal acts in the outside world. This behaviour we are seeing in Barbados is pure political maneuvers by a selected bunch of partsian supporters

Anyone is able to use a laptop in the vicinity of a hotel and is able to connect to your internet through wireless procedure, providing that connection is opened. Whose ISP information will show up by the service provider? Remember, you can block an IP address or use a random address.

Could you bring scientific evidence to show that this problem could not be hinged on a DLP supporter without their knowledge?

But again, I am not afraid to tell you that I find a certain moderator who have a problem with debating, but is fast to insult. I had to correct you on the Cariscot issue due to your diehard loyalty to a particular party due to your rush to criticise a party.

These threats and vile language are not BLP or DLP problem only, it is a Barbadian embarrassing thing that can do us damage on the outside world, against this back drop, BFP can also be linked with the demise of our integrity. You said MASSA day done, but it is just a NEW Massa day now with the same Massa players trying to create anarchy in our society. Think about it.

    **************

    BFP says,

Well, TMW, I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree then. You excuse the Royal Barbados Police Force for being unable to do what other police forces do every day. We do not excuse them.

But we still see no condemnation by you of the BLP for continuing to link to a website that has threatened murder and arson.

Like we said, you have lower standards and we’ll just have to accept that.

  10. Tell me Why

Anyone is able to use a laptop in the vicinity of a hotel and is able to connect to your internet through wireless procedure, providing that connection is opened. Whose ISP information will show up by the service provider?
    ………………………………………………………………………………….
Since you have higher (partisan only) standards, answer that simple question. Or should I say, you write and cannot substantiate the facts.

    **************
    BFP says,

Fact: BFPE threatened arson and murder against Loveridge.
Fact: There was an arson fire at Adrian’s hotel, a break in and a ladder up against his bedroom window all within 24hour period in the election time. There was a second arson.
Fact: BFPE cheered on the arsons and continued the threats.
Fact: The official blog of the Barbados Labour Party continues to link to BFPE months after being made aware of the BFPE threats.

Conclusion: The BLP Party officially supports and promotes a blog that threatens murder and arson of a BLP political opponent.

    We think that is disgusting.

    You don’t.

We say your standards are low. Live with it.

  11. Justice

I ask again. Why, of all those who support the DLP, is AL the only one being threatened? What special danger does he present? Can we, on your assumption, look forward to his murder (God forbid) sometime soon, since the Police will do nothing?

  12. Justice

BFP, should you not remove the listing for the BLP blog from your website since you might appear to be supporting a blog which supports a blog which threatens murder?

  13. Wishing in Vain

Is it not absolutely disgusting that the opposition’s blog site would provide a link to the vile and disgusting site of BFPE ???

This in itself suggest that they condone and support the style and the manner of operation of BFPE.

Maybe this is why they are where they are outside, fighting like crabs in a bucket of water, becaue of actions like this and arrogance and corruption.

Any truth to the story that mottley is actively seeking a job offshore for liz thompson to get her out of Barbados ?

Reports are that she is not ajusting well to her lost fame and fortune nor is she and the scoundrel Simmons adjusting to life in opposition nor are they enjoying the place where they are now forced to sit considering where they came from and how they got to the Senate?????

  14. Wishing in Vain

Reports reaching me state that the two of these has beens were not only late for the election of the President of the Senate but when they did show up the thompson thing ripped her corsage off and threw it to the ground like a woman pocessed stating I do not want this crap on me, then to hear Senator Alleyne state that they talked thru the entire State Opening is in itself digusting low life action, a wonderful display of poor manners and form by two that should know better.
but lets understand they are the rejects of the election the also rans of politics.

  15. in defense of the indefensible

surely by now bloggers have figured out that “Tell Me Why” doesn’t make any common sense because he is a dedicated BLP member who, at a minimum, tries to condone these illegal activities and perhaps has much more knowledge as to exactly who has sanctioned and has been carrying out these cowardly and despicable acts.

  16. Thistle

I done tell all-yuh (l’il bit of Trini) already that Tell Me Why and Frankology are one and the same. He gave himself away in a previous blog. Also, check out the bad grammar!

  17. Tell me Why

Thistle, let me tell you a secret. Microsoft owner is not a specialist in semantics but he is a damn good business mogul. I can also mention your own Mr. Parris. Responding to so many blogs all at once usually make you overlook grammatical mistakes. But after all, these blogs are not language tests, but a forum to correct English masters like you who try to push partisan political rhetoric down the throat of the unsuspected.

I have a problem with people of your kin who are simply void of creative ideas. Tell the public your contribution to this article. Three lines of absolutely nothing, as a matter of fact, you failed to offer any debatable information. But again, that’s what the blogs are for. Cussing, threats and derogative behaviour.

  18. Tell me Why

….surely by now bloggers have figured out that “Tell Me Why” doesn’t make any common sense because he is a dedicated BLP member.
    …………………………………………………………………………………..
I can freely state that I am not a member or supporter of the BLP or DLP. I prefer to be neutral where I can voiced opinion without repercussion.

Can you honestly state, based on information received, if these acts were caused by any member(s) of any political party?

  19. Tell me Why

Fact: BFPE threatened arson and murder against Loveridge.
TMW says: Are there any scientific evidence linking BFPE or specific individuals? I remember certain bloggers stating “That was my article posted”. E.g: Thistle post an article with WIV signed in name.

Fact: There was an arson fire at Adrian’s hotel, a break in and a ladder up against his bedroom window all within 24hour period in the election time. There was a second arson.
TMW says: You are speaking about speculation, and more speculations. Again, where’s the scientific evidence.

Fact: BFPE cheered on the arsons and continued the threats.
TMW says: If number one and two are inconclusive, how can this be a fact, it should be Fiction.

Fact: The official blog of the Barbados Labour Party continues to link to BFPE months after being made aware of the BFPE threats.
TMW says: You accommodate them on your blogs. Where you linked to them?

Conclusion: The BLP Party officially supports and promotes a blog that threatens murder and arson of a BLP political opponent.

TMW says: My conclusion is simple, if the BLP was supposedly linked to the BFPE as you keep saying, the elections are done and gone and a new party is at the helm. How come the new Attorney General don’t demand the RBPF to have these people brought to justice?

Out of over 250,000 people, why would someone target one individual?

  20. Thistle

Poor you, you’re one bitter, vindictive soul. Know what you should do? Go and read some of the thoughts and quotes by Colin Beadon and Rumplestilskin on Random – they may calm your troubled breast.

  21. Tell me Why

Poor you, you’re one bitter, vindictive soul. Know what you should do? Go and read some of the thoughts and quotes by Colin Beadon and Rumplestilskin on Random – they may calm your troubled breast.
    ………………………………………………………………………………….
Three more line and yet you failed to answer my question. Bitter …No, just hate people who can only find time to constantly criticise. By the way, I am always reading BT, Hants, CB and Rumps, who unlike you, are masters of semantics with debating skills.

  22. BFP-
I have had a comment “under moderation” for 18 hours. What exactly is the problem?

If what I said was factually incorrect, say so and I will be glad you did not post it. Nobody wants to look stupid.

If you merely find what I say uncomfortable to your position as blogmeisters, then I must consider what you are doing as Censorship.

You can deal with this by saying either “the former” or “the latter.”

    *************

    BFP says,

    Hi Deb,

In your comment, you alleged that a commenter put a foul comment up and that we allowed that to stand. You then put a cut and paste of the comment in your comment.

1/ We cannot find such a comment either currently on our blog or in the unapproved archives. We would never let such a comment stand and would ban a user for putting a comment like that up.

If it is up somewhere on our blog, let us know and we will take it down.

As it is, we believe that you are totally incorrect and that we never would let such a comment stand.

Further, the formatting of the date and time on the comment as you left it is found nowhere on Barbados Free Press…

    ie: you posted…

    Anonymous | Saturday, 5 January 2008, 1:29 am at 1:29 am

That formatting doesn’t come from anywhere on this blog. Have a look for yourself!

Where did you get the comment ?

  23. Tony Hall

I know that there are political yardfowls on either side of the divide but I think BFP is stretching it too far by accusing the BLP of being linked to a blog that sanctions murder. God knows that I am not a supporter of the BLP but I think factual evidence needs to be presented.

    *********************

    BFP says,

    What don’t you understand, Tony?

The BFPE blog still has posts up that celebrate the burning of Adrian’s hotel and the raping of his wife. The official BLP blog continues to link to BFPE even though they know of the threatening post.

What don’t your understand? Is your moral compass so absent that you don’t see a problem with this by the official blog of the BLP?

  24. Technician

Cut the BS BFP, up until this post you still have the BLP blog site in your side bar.
If they are sanctioning threats , then why on earth do you still have the BLP blog on your sidebar??

    You all are hypocrites together!!!

    ************

    BFP says,

Interesting point… Should Barbados Free Press de-list the blog and website of the Official Opposition of Barbados because the BLP Blog continues to endorse a blog that has threatened to murder and rape the wife of a political opponent?

Hmmm…. Clive… can you work up an article on this? I think that the folks over at the Global Voices Online project will be interested.

  25. Technician

I bet my pension that Marcus is moderating tonight!!

    ************

    BFP say,

How did you guess? But I’m off to work shortly so you’ll be rid of me soon. 🙂

You mean I’m not the most popular moderator? 😉

  26. reality check

If these threats were made just about anywhere in the world except for for Zimbawe, Russia and the like, the sorry fact is that the police would have immediately investigated and the perpetrators would have been arrested, fingerprinted and charged by now.

Sorry, foolish me I was thinking of a real democracy with a Rule of Law and effective ITAL.

  27. BFP-
In reply to your question I assure you I did not make up that scurrilous comment purportedly made by “A”. I found it, either in BFP Exposed, or possibly Bajan FP. I then copied it and pasted it as a genuine quote (I thought) without going back into BFP’s files to check if it was still there.

I accept that you never posted it on the dates claimed, or have subsequently removed it, which I believes happens quite often.

It appears that I was duped by a fictitious comment posted by BFPE or Bajan FP in an attempt to discredit you. I am therefore glad and relieved it did not see the light of day. (But “A” has said many things on your blog which would have been better blocked, I think you will agree. The point I was making that just because a controversial comment appears on a blog does not mean that the people who run the blog are endorsing those remarks).

    ********************

    BFP Says,

Thanks for the apology and explanation deb, but we have a big problem with your terminology.

Threats to murder, rape and arson a political opponent are not “controversial”… especially where someone subsequently carries out attempts at arson twice.

Threats to murder, rape and arson a political opponent are criminal, and are intended to totally undermine democracy. There should be zero-tolerance of such threats, but instead we had at the time the official blog of the BLP Government linking to, endorsing and even reprinting articles by a blog that made the threats against the government’s political opponents.

The BLP party, Prime Minister Arthur, the BLP Blog, BLP President Dr. Duguid and the Commissioner of Police were all notified – and still the BLP Blog links to BFPE and the threats that are still published there.

    Enough said.

BFP- I submitted a post prior to deb thomas which is still on moderation. Release it please.

    BFP says,

Yup… found both in the spam bucket. They are released now.

  29. Kathy

After several months on the BLP blogroll, the BFPE link has suddenly been removed!

    Without apology.

  30. Kathy

If a controversial comment is posted on a blog, as a POST, not as a comment, we can safely assume that either:
    a) The controversial comment is endorsed by the people running the blog, or
    b) The blog has been taken over by hostile hackers.

  31. “BFP is dead wrong”

Keltruth has proven nothing, and has failed to establish any connection, concrete or tenuous, between the BLP and death threats, terrorism, or criminal activity of any kind. Failing that, any suggestions to the contrary are the height of irresponsibility.

    **************

    BFP says,

Really? Then why did the BLP remove the link after public attention was drawn to it?
