Yup, that’s right folks.

We’re willing to post anything here that the DLP or their leader David Thompson has done to further Integrity Legislation, Freedom of Information Laws, Conflict of Interest Standards or anything like that.

Here is the space…

(Hmmm… still looks empty to us!)

The people of Barbados give David Thompson and the DLP candidates 30 days to make the disclosure they promised and show us texts of the new laws they will pass if elected.

If they don’t we will all give you a vote of no confidence.

  2. Red Lake Lassie

I stand corrected, BFP. You are right. I cannot find anything in writing that commits the DLP to integrity legislation.

  3. Straight talk

    BFP:

Why are you putting a lot of store by the written word?

    BLP Manifesto 2003

“The Barbados Labour Party reaffirms the values that define the character of our nation.

We see it as our mission to defend and advance the following:

Integrity in all areas of governance and public life, with the public interest paramount in all decisions, which should be transparent and carried out in accordance with the law.
There shall be effective mechanisms of accountability
Parliament shall retain its essential role as a balance against executive power.
An independent judiciary shall be a crucial bastion for the interpretation of the law and the settlement of disputes, and shall ensure that Government should never be above the law and that all citizens be treated fairly. ”

    Words are easy.

    Hi ST

We’re not putting any store in words at all. We want action and have been demanding action for 2 years from both parties.

The DLP supporters claim there are words, though. OK, says we… produce them.

    We’re waiting!

  4. Always BLP

I only go to show that Thompson and his butchers will go to any length to create new issues weekly. The more he talks, the more we are seeing him for what he truly is. An opportunist and a power hungry monster.

Is this the person we want to leader his country? He is a true “cat on a hot tin roof” Mendacity, mendacity.

    ************************

    BFP Comments…

Always BLP, your tribal devotion to the King of Mendacity hardly leaves you in a superior position. Thompson might be crooked or heading for the piggy trough, but he is still a raw amateur compared to King Arthur & company!

  5. Hants

BFP…Are you saying that except for lack of Integrity and accountability, you are supporting the BLP.

You BFP are adamant that the BLP Government is directly responsible for 2 t0 300% cost overruns on major projects.

You have also pointed to the $750,000 cheque.
You brought us the Gline Clarke house with the Benz parked outside.

In spite of this you are making demands on the DLP to produce “Integrity Legislation”.The DLP is not the ruling party.

At the end of the elections, the people of Barbados will get the government they chose and deserve.

    BFP Replies

Give your head a shake and don’t try to put words into our mouths, Hants.

We merely comment that Thompson and the DLP aren’t serious about integrity legislation or they would have been hammering away at the issue for years. They would have introduced internal standards for their party based upon a commitment to integrity.

    They have not done so.

Fine words is all we’ve seen and not too many of them, nor in writing on the DLP websites. Just some second hand reporting about what someone might have heard during a speech.

We refuse to buy into that. You can. We don’t.

  6. Hants

Always BLP… I respect your loyalty to your party even though I support the DLP.

At least you are not like your “new best friend” Mr. DLP Clyde BLP Mascoll.

  7. reality check

    BFP get ready

all these last comments show us is that some of these bloggers can’t seperate party affiliation from basic democratic checks and balances of transparency and accountability.

When and if the DLP gets into power they will be just as vitriolic and just as crooked as this present den of tiefs. It may take them awhile because the depth of the nations economy and stealing will stun them beyond comprehension.

Stand up or keep silent DLP. We get the message.

  8. Wishing in Vain

I am confident that they will join with me in a new era of public accountability and will sign on before the election result to a code of conduct for persons holding public office including a declaration of assets, support for new integrity and public accountability laws, the strengthening of the Public Accounts Committee and an overhaul of the public tendering system.

I go further. The House of Assembly itself – which is open to public scrutiny and whose debates are broadcast – must consider and debate all major ministerial decisions arising out of appeals relating to town and country planning applications that affect large tracts of land, policy directions to Statutory Boards by Ministers and certain appointments made to posts that carry significant constitutional significance.

Within how many months after being elected will the DLP pass integrity legislation?

    3 months?

    6 months?

    12 months?

    24 months?

    36 months?

    “Next term?”

I don’t accept an open ended promise. I want to know how long after being elected will a DLP government pass integrity legislation.

We deserve that much at least.

  11. oh my gwad

At last nights meeting in Deacons Road which was packed…. saw it as I was passing through… the platform speaker was lambasting Clyde Mascoll.

Today all a friend could remember about what was said at the meeting was how they continuously ridiculed Mascoll like children.

They should have addressed more serious topics.

Did anyone in the DLP camp stop to consider that they are being purposely distracted?

  12. Wishing in Vain

oh my gwad they are not being distracted, they chose to come into his backyard and to attack the idiot and to show him up for what he really is nothing more than a money grabbing fraud and liar.

The meeting was designed to attack Asscoll and Asscoll alone to show him to be dishonest not that I really feel anyone really needed a political meeting to show this up as the entire nation clearly knows him to be a crook.

The DLP have a plan to address a major issue at each meeting next it maybe VECO and the PRISON SCANDAL or 3 S DANOS and THE ROAD WORKS PROJECT BOTH HAVE MAJOR COST OVERRUNS INVOLVED IN THEM.They may even look into the plan to more than double the SLOT MACHINE numbers in the island with NICHOLLS AND OWING holding the ownership with Johnson and Washington from the USA as partners.

Last nights meeting can be considered a success of a major size, notice how today the Asscoll press release was a shambles with him suggesting that Mr Thompson move the motion tomorrow what an idiot, Mr Thompson has said what his plan of action is and he will proceed at his pace and in his time not at Mascoll’s, then we have Mr See Thru telling the press that the Leader of the Opposition should go to the PAc knowing full well they is no way that it can be taken there at this time,, however had he the PM been sharp and on the ball he would have instructed an investigation instantly to address the concerns of every Bajan and should there be corruption and fraud taking place he could halt it earlier rather than later after the audit was eventually completed.

To me this would have shown intent to correct the wrongs that are evident, insted Arthur lets it ride with more of our money being thrown away daily.

Actually the motion of no confidence should be lodged against both the PM and Asscoll.

  13. Hants

Fellow bloggers, David Thompson was not lying. read below what Mascoll and associates admitted to.

“Mascoll also spoke of his association with the company, saying he felt compelled to assist after Anthony Murrell approached him with a good idea to provide affordable housing.

Mr. Mascoll’s wife, Cyrilene, responded to opposition charges that employees from Hardwood Housing worked on a construction project in Perry Gap, St. Michael, which is being undertaken by her and her brother Dr Hugh Thomas.

She said Anthony Murrell, a director of Hardwood Housing, was involved in the project in a private capacity.

She explained that she had specifically instructed him not to use any labour, equipment or anything else from the company.

However, Mr. Murrell admitted that two people who did work on the site were sourced and paid by Hardwood Housing.

Mr. Murrell also admitted that the company had employed undocumented workers.

Mr. Murrell added that those workers are no longer working for the company as efforts are made to have their status regularised”.

I wonder if these people were set up to distract the public from the big money issues related to the Prison and 3S
The BLP can always say that Mascoll was never really a BLP and they made a mistake in letting him join them.

Notice that it is the Mascoll group admitting to “irregularities” at Hardwood while the Government remains silent on the cost overruns Prison and 3S.

This is more entertaining than Canadian politics.

  14. Hants

BFP… I think the Mascolls,Murrell Press conference could be a topic on this blog.

Based on what I read on CBC.com, these people admitted to
    1. employing undocumented workers.
    2. using workers from Hardwood to work at Mrs.Mascoll and her brother’s project.

If the CBC report is correct, Is this not a “conflict of interest” issue?
Will the Minister be asked to resign ?

Super Owing might just suprise us.

    ……………………………………………………………………….
And your vote of confidence will go to whom?

  16. Velzo

Oh my Gawd, David Estwick, Michael Lashley and Richard Sealy dealt with a variety of issues. Check todays Advocate on Lashley and housing. Estwick dealt with the cost of living.
It was a very balanced meeting but at the centre of this debate is Mascoll’s credibility. Mascoll is viewed as an alternative to Arthur.
The DLP could not muster that crowd without having an issue like Hardwood to mobilise the people and I think it was and is the correct strategy.
    Hats off to the Dems.

  17. Hants

Velzo I am disappointed in you and Jerome Hinds.

How come you all letting Mascoll off so easy after he,Murrel and his wife gave a press conference and admitted that Murrel did work on Mrs.Mascoll’s property.

“She explained that she had specifically instructed him not to use any labour, equipment or anything else from the company.

However, Mr. Murrell admitted that two people who did work on the site were sourced and paid by Hardwood Housing.

Mr. Murrell also admitted that the company had employed undocumented workers.

Mr. Murrell added that those workers are no longer working for the company as efforts are made to have their status regularised.”

Velzo I am convinced that Mascoll is the BLP “fall guy” and I would be surprised if his political is not terminated.
That would distract the electorate from the 2 and 300% cost overruns at the prison and the flyovers.

  18. Toast

will mascoll the traitor retain his seat? he last got in on a DLP ticket. those same people who voted him in must be cruel with him all now so.
the bees in his area are going to now suddenly get all enthusiastic about turncoat mascoll?
I see his axx as being graxx, next time around. i reckon that seat is available
    mascoll is toast

    Hi Hants,

Sorry to disappoint you…….but I really did not waste my energy further exposing ASSCOLL !

A read of the link below when this company was launched would indicate that ASSCOLL is a MADMAN who should really be RESIDING in an institution in the constituency………he is seeking to REPRESENT again !

Pay careful attention to his 500 house claim in the article below.

    http://www.nationnews.com/story/286970350093911.php

Now some one year later…..now that his tail is exposed, look at what he is saying about his 500 house claim…….

” He noted the evidence was clear that managing director of the company Anthony Murrell was competent to build houses and the issue of whether he built 500 houses in Grenada or not was “neither here or there “.

Read the entire story below :

So HANTS and others we see how CREDIBLE……Mr. ASSCOLL is !!!!!!! Hants

  20. Straight talk

    Open and shut, Jerome.

    Guilty as charged.

  21. theNickster

Maaascoll taking the bullet for his buddie Owen?, sounds like more of those “bait and switch” tactics. Before this is over how many more things will Maaascoll be “guilty” of? some leaked document of Maaascoll masterminding the Worldcup, perhaps smuggling Chinese inside Guyanese luggage?
Is the wood really that hard at hardwood housing?
If heads are going to roll they should start from the fat top right down to the lazy bottom. Don’t think I’m forgetting the Dees, they made a lousy opposition for the sake of the people, why should they be allowed to represent us any further. That whole house of assembly needs a serious purge and all the hot air still fogs up the cameras.

  22. Warrior

I thought OMG said that he/she would no longer be posting on this blog site because their information was not printed in a timely manner by BFP.

Then they said they were at the meeting and now on this topic – they were only – passing through.

You are a wonder and apparently a stranger to the truth as well.

  23. Idealist

    Warrior:

It must be soul destroying to watch the lonely blinking cursor on your empty inactive blog, signalling your 20 minutes of fame are over.

  24. oh my gwad

    Warrior

…You are a wonder and apparently a stranger to the truth as well.

I felt the matter was adequately resolved. I posted my own blog.
    http://truthinbarbados.blogspot.com/

I aslo have not sent BFP any further info regarding the Codrington/Linton family as I dont like there selective blogging.

But as a Bajan, with access to the internet I will post any time I want.

I passed the meeting, I never said I was at it. Someone who lives in the area commented on it to me the next day.

So Warrior read my posts again and brush up on your comprehension skills.

And just so it is clear:

I WOULD NEVER BE CAUGHT DEAD AT A DLP MEETING.

  25. oh my gwad

    Idealist

You may not know this, but my “inactive blog” reached its prime target and is currently being acted upon.

Further the number of persons clicking “view profile” on the blog site currently stands at 60.

Certainly not inactive for a first try.

In addition there was a print edition on the streets.

In conclusion the blog is not condusive to posting a comment is it?

  26. Wishing in Vain

oh my gwad that leaves me to think that you must love getting shafted by these scamps.
Keep on trucking my friend and enjoy the ride !!!

  27. oh my gwad

Nah, you dont have to enjoy riding in a ZR but it gets you where your going.

  28. Wishing in Vain

Enjoy your ride on the blp corruption bus my friend!!!

  29. Hants

Am I the only one who believes that based on what they said at the Mascoll’s press conference,He should resign?

There are clear admissions by all three of them that there is a conflict of interest.

“However, Mr. Murrell admitted that two people who did work on the site were sourced and paid by Hardwood Housing.

Mr. Murrell also admitted that the company had employed undocumented workers.”

How can these people expect to break the law and get away with it.

Hiring undocumented workers is against the laws of Barbados. True or false?

  30. oh my gwad

    Check your email BFP

    ***********************

    BFP Clive says…

Got it. The only way we can take it is electronically. Photograph it with a digital camera (hi res) and email it. Some fax machines will create a jpg of a document that you can email it.

We don’t have a way of receiving actual paper.

YES, we are willing to do the story, and yes I (Cliverton) agree with everything you wrote. Some of the others may have different opinions and I haven’t spoken with them yet, but yes we would do a story.

  31. Wishing in Vain

Hants yes I support your call 100 % lest ask BFP to put up a voting page for this and lets see where it goes, our gov’t system is failing us badly it is terrorising us as opposed to working with us.
This is sadly the option that Owing and Mottley has chosen to take to quell the voices of the general public.
