Funeral Expenses And Family Troubles Still Surround Codrington Deaths

Barbados Free Press has received a number of emails from persons interested in the situation surrounding the burial of the Codrington family.

6. Funeral director informs family because government paying for burial, family will receive no death grant.

7. Funeral director charges Codrington Family $855 for 1 family van that seats 14 and funeral announcements in the paper.

8. 9. Funeral director informs Linton Family that the Codringtons called this person and they should call them too.

10. Codringtons had service at Coral Ridge Chapel then walked to gravesite
11. Linton family had over 50 names in funeral announcement and individual limousines, plus went to a church then to burial site.

16. The funeral home did not send the original cars for the thanksgiving service.

17. The funeral home did not print the original hymn sheets for the thanskgiving service.

18. Why did Lyndhurst inform the Codringtons, “Yes, there will be two services.” And then send an outrageous bill

19. Why did Trevor Prescod say on the peoples business the Tues. after the telethon that two oil companies had put up the money for the funerals

20. What is really going on?

21. No one no longer returns the Calls from the Codrington Family.

22. Can anyone out there help the Codringtons.

23. The Codringtons did have the burial or service that they wanted because “they were not footing the bill” so after the government and funeral home used them as means to an end, why send a bill now.

Can anyone out there advise what to do?

    Please clarify:
    23. The Codringtons did have the burial or service that they wanted because “they were not footing the bill”…

    Is this the correct sentence?

This was sent to us anonymously and we printed it verbatim. It comes from the same source as previously sent a long diatribe to Barbados Underground. We also received that long passage but did not print it at the time.

  2. Oh my gwad

I see you are very selective with the emails that you follow up on so this will be the very last time I post here.

I wont refer to the email I sent you over seven (7) times or this email too will end up in comment moderation oblivion.

    Goodbye BFP.

    Hello OMG.

You sent us the same thing that Barbados Underground published, so we chose not to publish it. As always, anyone who wants full control of their information can go to WordPress.com and have their own blog up in about ten minutes.

    The Codringtons’

    1. Get a lawyer, one with future politican asperations to work for free to ask questions on their behalf (like the guy who worked for the chinesse, for got his name) not being overly aggresive but yet not being to passive.

    2. Rememer that anytime gov’t is envolved in paying out money it takes time, a lot of it.

    3. About the oil companies paying the bills well I can’t help with that, the lawyer should look into all that stuff.

“Linton family had over 50 names in funeral announcement and individual limousines, plus went to a church then to burial site.”
They really went all out to impress, but then again the politicians were in the media using this tragedy to their advantage, so the Lintons just, well tried to cope with the situation.

Why is this so badly written?

  5. Adrian Loveridge

Well there it at least one person that has a close connection with Arch Cot that is $60,000 richer this week.
    So what is the problem?

  6. Not the Editor

    BFP,

I rearly visit BU (maybe 5 times) and cannot recall ever posting there, I do trust that there are reason(s) other than those listed above for not posting a contribution from OMG.

Afterall, the numbers suggest that you are number ONE!

  7. Mistake

In today’s society we try to impress upon the youth that it is paramount to go to school and get a solid education. Cross your T’s and dot your I’s. Can you please tell me why is it that the comments from 1 – 23 have so much bad grammar, shame on you

  8. Lady Anon

I have always been told that there are three sides to every story. There are too many questions raised here that BFP cannot answer for there to be a proper discussion.

Since these queries came from a third party (neither BFP nor the Codringtons/Lintons) further discussion would be MORE THAN speculation.

Again, there are three sides to every story.

can anyone tell me if there is any truth to this , i was made to understand that the guy who is runing against mr michael lashley owns the funeral home lyndhurst

  10. Iwatching

Sorry to say but this seem to be blowing up because there is money involved and it is about who is getting and who is not.

It really should not be, but that is usually the problem when people get the strong smell of money.

Who is really going to look out for the welfare of the child though?

    ………………………………………………………………………
No truth to this matter at all.
Another Griffith, but not the politician from St. Philip North.
I think that the owner of Lyndhurst is one Peter Phillips, whereas the politician guy is George Griffith.

  12. Underdog

The owner of Lyndhurst is a decent, honourable and compassionate gentleman.

  13. Oh my gwad

Thank you BFP. I set up my own blog.

    http://truthinbarbados.blogspot.com/

The above submission are notes I was making for my own personal use and sent in error.

But you published the notes and not the article how come?

    **************

    BFP Replies

As we said, friend, Barbados Underground had already published your article verbatim. These new notes were “new” and thus interesting to our readers. As to you sending them by mistake… hey, we’re not mind readers, but we understand that mistakes happen.

AND THAT IS WHY at Barbados Free Press, we each use one computer to post our blog and another totally separate computer to retrieve and send emails. It would be bad if something was emailed or posted unintentionally – yet it has happened to us on two occasions that our story notes have been posted to the blog before the story is ready.

    Good luck with your blog.

  14. Wishing in Vain

Peter Griffith is from the funeral home George Griffith the politician works with him part time.

No it wont bring them back but the next time some fool is thinking of taking a kick back and approving buildings and construction work on cliffsides, caves and a sink hole he would think twice and then maybe…just maybe… a hole wont open tonight and swallow you up when your sleeping. You callous, pompous female rabbit.

  17. crossroads

Nothing in this article is about preventing a sink hole from happening again, its all about gossip and who will get the funds that were raised.
By the way, I already sleep in a hole and rabbits are cute, so thanks. Go ahead and continue with your childish name calling.

  18. oh my gwad

    What funds.

Do you mean the funds collected in the name of the Codringtons and to be used according to todays Sunday Sun …on those displaced at Arch Cot and any future tragedys.

Lot most of the misguided populace, you are under the impression the Codringtons are fighting for money.

    THERE IS NO MONEY

and by the way, the correct name for a female rabbit, rhymes with runt and punt and hunt……. got it yet?

  19. oh my gwad

These posts are to let the public know that what is being said in the newspapers and by the politicians should not be taken at face value.

And about the fact that the families were charged funeral costs even though government told Barbados there were paying.

Also the media collected funds for one thing but in reality intend to use it for something else, but the public will never know because.. the media houses are not bringing the stories.

I will be satisfied when the persons reponsible for the telethon states clearly in the media for all and sundry to know that the funds they collected are not for the immediate relatives of those who perished… contrary to popular belief.

I am tired of people watching every cent I spend and wondering ….wait…dahs my pledge money.

  20. crossroads

Clearly, omg you are somehow connected to these families, hence the comment “I am tired of people watching every cent I spend and wondering ….wait…dahs my pledge money”.

I shall leave you with my sympathy and hope you find peace.

p.s. for the record I am male in gender and I don’t mind being called that word for I find it a most wonderful organ.

I am really sorry to hear of the plight of the Codrington Family, and I agree with OMG whole heartedly that those connected with the case need to state publicly about the funds raised, the funeral costs, etc. There are too many questions surrounding this entire issue. I know that you are frustrated OMG, I can see it in your comments, and I know that in this little island the gossip and the comments being made must be frustrating you even more. On top of all the grief of an entire family just wiped out from the face of the earth I dont think that it is fair that the family has to deal with all of this also. Those in charge pretend to be sympathetic but in my view are not really so, this is all about glory hence the child being used as a “poster child” for the cause. That is reprehensible. All I can tell you is dont let the frustration get to you, stay strong and firm and trust in God. The Father can bring you through anything, He is in charge.

  22. Hants

    Some things are so easy.

CBC collected money for the victims at Brittons Hill. Therefore they should.

    1. Pay Funeral expenses.

2 Set up Trust fund to pay for future care of surviving children.

3.Provide Financial statements showing how money collected is spent.

  23. oh my gwad

    Haunts

    I agree wholeheartedly.
