UPDATED: Duguid Posts 1st Time Since April 20, 2007 – Prime Minister Arthur Puts Gag Order On Duguid And Eastmond “No More Barbados Free Press”

UPDATED: Dr. Duguid Replies…

My Friends,

The only person that can gag me is my wife.

At no time can any person think, expect or dream that it would possible to gag an independent person like myself.

I have been out of the country from time to time but I have followed the various conversations. but I was not moved to comment. First because no matter what I say people try to turn it around and secondly some people use this blog to be abusive and I will not sink to those levels.

I came into public life with integrity and I will leave whenever the people no longer want me to represent them with my integrity intact.

I appreciate this forum and I am encouraged with the posts that the people at BFP put up. Often very thoughtful and extremely entertaining.

Unfortunately from time to time operatives of the DLP try to hijack the site and use it for their own propaganda. I think that should be left for the DLP Blog.

BFP should be the peoples Blog when people from all walks of life from all persuausions could be welcome to come an air their views in a constructive manner.

I am still here and will comment when moved to do so. I am not an adversarial person by nature and I tend to avoid the heated and abusive conversations. I prfer to look for the win win soloutions.

So I am still here and will comment from time to time.

William Duguid

I would not loose any sleep over this development as Eastmond only used this site as an arm of her campaign and Duguid is a proven liar with no opinion of his own on anything remember his non comittal on the nature reserve ?
Not an awful lot of substance has ever come from either one of them so my verdict there is nothing loss here.
This live online chat with MR See Thru is this going to take place at 4.00 AM when he is drunk and he is usually up cussing innocent people ?
This woul make a real laugh this would.

  2. Wishing in Vain

Your mention of Mr See Thru taking part in a blog was dated 6 th June 2006 over a year later and it has not yet happened this is an indication of how they get things done by this blp gov’t all promise but zero action unless of course it means putting money in his and Nicholls personal bank accounts.

  3. Adrian Loveridge

    When will they ever learn.
    You cannot silence everyone.

Remember the poem attributed to Pastor Martin Niemoller.

    ‘First then came………..

    and ending with ………….

When they came for me,there was no one left to speak out’

Its something we should think about!

  4. yup, at some point Rommell Marshall is going to blow. If he loses his seat he will be incline to tell all.

  5. My guess is that Duguid had to find out for himself what i have been saying for a long time.

“I can’t be a man and a party member too.”

  6. J. Payne

Congrats BFP you just entered phase III of Ghandi’s saying.

    “First they ignore you,
    then they laugh at you,
    then they fight you,
    then you win—-.”

  7. J. Payne

I loved the “How dare the Barbados Free Press…” Game… I’ve got one more…

“How dare the Barbados Free Press begin to analyse Owen’s Statement that he would “Defend To The Death” his party’s seats this elections. After-all he said it so he must mean it right?

  8. Wishing in Vain

We are only now waiting over a year for this live blog from Mr See Thru, must be willing to wait at least 13 years to get this action.

  9. reality check

    A democracy of one

too much power far too long

but then again so has Fidel, Mugabe, Chavez and a whole host of absolutely corrupted politicians.

Their people have paid big time

  10. Anonymous

Barbados will soon be a one party state

  11. J. Payne

Anon. If you look at the flaw in the Westminster system, Barbados is a one party state…

The PM is chosen among the party. The party tries to win seats. They put up the party leader as Prime Minister… And the PM has control over the House and the majority of the Senate. The P.M. also appoints the Governor-General which can then likewise scratch the Prime Minister’s back later on when they get in a pinch… When someone is elected in the Westminster System I’m sorry it becomes a one party state unless MPs cross the floor or there’s enough independent MPs to make everything up for grabs.

  12. J. Payne

    Just to instigate a little…

    Oooooo—

Hey Duguid And Eastmond! Are you really ‘gon let a hard-back ole’ man like the Rt. Hon. O$ A. shoosh you like that??? Are you gon’ let him control you like that? If I were you all I would become independent MPs….

    *evil grin*

Hee hee hee! All he could do is ban them from this site. if it was the advocate or the nation, he would be threatening to pull ads. thank god for cyberspace. can’t touch barbados free press. whether owing like it or not, he will get his licks here and praise if it is due. but we are not his how great thou art choir. owing after need to grow up.

  14. jamaicangirl2007

That’s unbelievable! You are getting the PM’s goat? Is this for real or what?

  15. jamaicangirl2007

By the way how will he know that they are on the site if they use a bogus name? I know they would have dealt with it differently in Jamaica where injustice reigns! (if you know what I mean).

    Hi Doctor

What about that $750,000 “campaign donation” cheque that the Prime Minister deposited into his own personal bank account?

When will the PM be holding his open internet session as you promised in June of 2006?

  20. No-name

    william duguid
    Are you in anyway concerned about the integrity of the Minister of Public works who built and lives in a house that was compulsorily acquired by Gov’t;
are you concerned about the $750,000 that the P.M deposited in his account…and what is the status of the said cheque?
Are you concerned about the hugh amount of lies told by the Minister of Tourism ?
Do you think it was acceptable for the PM to refer to DLP candidates as “wild boys”

  21. Wishing in Vain

Duguid you are a wasted force in politics you are a stranger to the truth in no small way, we are still awaiting your stance on the nature reserve but then agian we know like the rest you have no opinion unless it generates money in your bank account.

  22. Wishing in Vain

Duguid you seem to fail to understand that BFP is really the peoples blog however you seem to fail to understand that the opinions stated here are free of bias and much to your dissapointment they may hit at your party but they do so because you are the most corrupt politicians ever entrusted with running our country and you have raped it blindly for the benefit of your bank accounts, make no mistake about it you lot are criminal and need to be locked away in p;rison which after robbing us to the tune of $ 200 million you should have a nice prison to retire to. bastards you are bastards.

I hold no brief whatsoever for Mr. Duguid, but he has had the courage to come on this blog, using his own name (I would lose my job for sure if I did that) and explain himself, and what does he get? Insult after insult. Can’t you just question him about burning issues (eg. Graeme Hall) without becoming insulting? Please, give it a try.

  26. Wishing in Vain

Anonymous you obviously have missed earlier exchanges on this and other blogs with this clown and trust me based on those exchanges he is nothing more than a liar and a stranger to the truth.
I have absolutely no time for this clown and cannot pretend to be favourable to him when you know that he lies as does.
We are still waiting to hear his vote on the Water park which Keirns has paid a few of them to process quietly and swiftly, sadly the residents got wind of their scam now Duguid has said nothing about if he would vote for it or against it, must be hard to vote against something when you are paid to vote for it ?

Anon, how much “credit” does he deserve for blogging and do so using his name? I personally and honestly don’t believe that the PM could successfully “gag” him against his wishes, and this is in light of all that would have taken place prior to his winning the controversial nomination for the constituency he now represents. So that any “gagging” would be of his own making, and as such i question the reasons he outlines as the reasons. It would seem to me that he is suggesting that the reasons for his “silence” is of our making, and that i refute. If he is truly a man of personal integrity then it stands to reason that he must have an opinion on all of the reported questionable activities of his party collegues, and that these views must be informed by his personal convictions. It is highly unlikely that a person of high personal integrity, this being true, would not in the least be offended by accusations to the contrary, that are level against persons with whom he associates professionaly or otherwise, and that he would not be moved to investigate and on conclusion defend his associates or seek to distance himself from them and by extentions their lack of integrity. Silence from him, on these things does not help the accuse, and certainly weakens the perception of himself as a person of integrity. But there is another side to this, and it is the single most reason why i would never be a member of a political party in Barbados as long as the current mixed government system is in place. I can never place my personal integrity at the mercy of a king maker, and elected dictator, or so-called first among equals to do with as he pleases, without recall or recourse to any malpractice on his or her part, never. This is the state of mental confusion that men like Duguid finds themselves in and rather then stay true blue to their personal convictions they prefer to suffer in silence, supressing who they truly are until their health is compromise and via this moment of weakness the truth is revealed, …..Rawle Eastmond’s Diabolical forces speech captured for enternity, what his collegues and others should take stock and learn from, yet they will demiss it as the comments of sick mind. The saying “Men will stumble upon the truth, get up and carry on as if nothing had happened”, is clear clear.

So Mr. Duguid am i questioning your claim to be a person of integrity? Yes indeed I am.

Adrian you are a boss this is said with class,
Maybe we ought to list the charges for him to have a closer look at and then seek his reply, then again a reply may never be forthcoming that is the nature of the beast and liar.

William has to balance this against Adrian’s propensity to stick by what he says, something any good politician simply cannot, must not do.
    —————————————————-
In our system the political party is everything, no independent members of parliament to date, and no parliamentarian surviving independent debate opinions or votes cast, all must be and indeed has been a party vote. Therefore the argument of personal integrity, and independence while in the mixed of this currupting, power centralized apparatus is lost and cannot be heard, seen, or felt. In other words if you mixed one part sterilized water to a one gallon container filled with cow dung, a sterile envoirnment it is far far from.

  30. Inkwell

Mr Duguid is in a difficult position. While he himself may be innocent of the charge of corruption, he cannot very well say “Not me, it is so and so” He is a member of a political party and is bound by party policy to toe the party line. He cannot publicly criticize either the party or his colleagues. Otherwise he would most likely be evicted from the party.

Mr Duguid has to weigh his political aspirations against his valuation of his personal integrity and the public’s perception of it. If he decides to subordinate his integrity to his wish for political advancement, he will indeed be compromising that integrity, given the charges of corruption and incompetence against the party of which he is an integral part. If he attempts to defend those charges, he will find himself in a no win situation, where he has to prove a negative to be successful in the atmosphere of hostility, invective and bad manners of those on this blog for whom no defense will be admissible, far less successful.

Mr Duguid has to realize that he can’t run with the hounds, remain flea free and claim to be a hare. He obviously does not feel he has a decision to make to support his claims of integrity, but maybe his constituents will make it for him.

I am listening to this years calypso’s, friends of mine are telling me of the things said and beleived about any number of polticians in Barbados. Yet Duguid and his collegues are in their mist, exercising extreme power, living high on the hog, and as they would say, proud to serve. This Blog and the comments to my mind does not fare any worst, to what is being said, and what is believe by Barbadians on the rock about any number of polticians. Indeed what is being said on political platforms, and political branch meetings is just as bad as anything being said on these blogs. Yet the polticians are not staying away from the public glare. I am incline to believe that the same reasons that Barbadians on the rock cannot get an answer on the illegal chinese, can’t get correct information on CWC, on land and house cost, etc is the same reason why Duguid and others are staying away from the blogs. They do not have answers that are both the truth, and that places them in a good light.

  32. Wishing in Vain

    Adrian and Inkwell
Two very good comments, Duguid has a whole lot holding over his head and sadly his political ties will strangle him if he is not careful.

  33. Wishing in Vain

We have so many questions for this group of politicians but it is impossible to get them give reasonable explanations to their actions, the prison, the flyovers, the cheque, the sewage treatment program for the west coast, unfinished gov’t buildings, the method of for payment to the PM the change of use of lands, the PM and his method of buying lands from friends with gov’t monies and double the value for his kick back.the sad state of the medical services.
They are many instances of corruption that needs to be addressed and this must be done sooner rather than later.

indeed; you are what you eat, as you are known by the friends and associates you keep.

…..the same is true on the other side, so that after the election, and should a DLP party form the government, I will be here or somewhere singing the same tune, for as old as those who are now seemly singing this tune with me will want to inform me that it is,…… the relevance will be found in a system that is still as corrupting, as it was for the last 13 years and beyond, for a mere change of cast members and actors will not the pantomime change.
