Match Officials Slammed By ICC For Cricket World Cup “I Can’t See The #@$! Bat” Final Game

“The World Cup, which had already been dogged by poor crowds, bad publicity, and one-sided cricket, not to mention the lingering shadow of Bob Woolmer’s death in Jamaica, desperately needed a successful final between Australia and Sri Lanka to salvage some respect.

Instead, it got the most farcical finish of all time.” (from CricInfo.com)

We thought that the final game was most appropriate… a fitting end to Cricket World Cup 2007. A worldclass public event managed so badly that not even the Prime Minister would show his face publicly at the grand finale.

If you need more punishment, read World Cup Officials Slammed By ICC at Cricinfo.

Our finest hour turned out to be a dismal dark failure.
Not a single aspect of CWC can be considered a success, not one, From Mottley’s fiasco of the Visa requirement asking people in Dubai to send their passports to London or India for Visas for them to find out that the courier companiens cannot by law accept their passports for carriage, or asking Pakistanis to send their passports to India for Visas to warring factions, and affecting our arrivals from non cricket playing countries like Sweden and Norway that found themselves now requiring visas for the first time, our DPM was in conmtrol here our finest hour, then we had Lynch and his mad stagger to charter the Destiny, the closing ceremony that they paid over $ 1.5 million to the Trinidadian producer to come up with the tired theme of Moko Jumbies, the costing of the Oval at over $ 150 million, the use of public funds to capture votes for Bostic in that nonsense of a cleanup, the search of our police force, no caps to even water bottles these were all parts to our finest hour maybe with this much corruption it should be called our finest hours of desperation.

This is what happens when mortal man makes himself immortal with statments like “I will move heaven and earth. ” Satan said “I will exalt my throne above God” infact he was the first I man or Ras. The shameful finish of the world cup was just another case of God Almighty dethroning a statment of pride made by a man of pride.

    Too little too late…

Why has it taken nearly TWO months to arrive at this form of censure?

I sincerely believe that the ICC should pay Barbados half the total earnings extracted for the television rights to broadcast the final as partial compensation for the embarrassement caused to the country.

And how Malcom Speed still has a job defies all belief and demonstrates how ‘we’ reward people for failure.

Najo – I could not have said it better myself.

I believe that some one versed in the Sci-Fi should come and get Barney Lynch.

I defies my human comprehension how this man, whose name has become synonymous with failure, bigot, upstart, knuckle-head (and these are some of the the more tactful terms) can still in all honesty (not that he is honest – don’t get tie up) continue to want to be so high profile, in his statements and public appearances.

A lesser mortal would be trying to clean the wounds inflicted upon this nation and to curry and regain credibility. Then again a lesser mortal can not lose what they never had.

He should be getting a airline or cruise ship ticket and get down to the Jordan River and dip seven times – in his case several times- to wash the leprosy from himself.

Yet time and time again the Nation Newspaper flaunts him in our face, wid he arrogant self. Nobody in Barbados should buy the Nation Newspaper.

I want to know how we going to recover all that money, the little that was spent, and the majority that just………went!.

The inmates are running the asylum.

Well put Warrior. I believe what he is doing is following a pr plan if you can call it that from BLP trough piggies Ricardo Blackman ,Al Gilkes or another pr agency. PR firms here and in TnT rake in crazy dollars from Lynch and BLP ministers to bolster their image. I cant see how any pr strategy can help an out of this world liar and braying jackass like Lynch. What angers Bajans is the sweaty pompous bird brain insults our intelligence not once in awhile but it seems by the hour. Nit wit Lynch has no credibility whatsoever yet he spewing rubbish at every cock fight.

    On the lighter side …….

You realise of course that given the aversion to Mia many people have and the two sidedness of Clyde Mascoll that Noel could be our next Prime Minister!@!

Billie soon gone to Brazil. Understand she is going out to pasture and won’t be running.

Who will be our next PM if O$A were to lose his seat and the BLP won the elections?

Maybe Glyne Clarke might edge out Noel Lynch for the job.

I mean who else in the BLP is up to it and can carry on in the tradition set by O$A??

Now if the DLP won and David were to lose his seat, at least there would be Mr. Kellman.

He really is the only politician who says what he thinks, …… even when it doesn’t make sense!!

In this respect I think he is probably the most honest one in Parliament.

  10. Dear BFP,

    Nice photo! LOL.

    Yours,
    The Bystander.

  11. BK

I read this week that the five officials who participated in the CWC 2007 final were all penalized. None of them will participate in the upcoming World 20/20 Games.

  12. Pay BARBADOS? - or BLP??

    Mr.Loveridge propose that…
” .. the ICC should pay Barbados half the total earnings”
    – but the money would never reach!

It would (in effect) be paid to the BLP,
    since They are now ‘Barbados’.

Better ICC hold the money, hear whuh I tell yuh!

If Owen is really living up to all that is highlighted on this blog. Then I hear that Reginald Farley would do an excellent job. I hear he was at the top of his game with the whole telecommunications negotiations and deals.

BFP I would like to request a copy of the above picture.

I must have it framed and mounted on my wall to show my grand children.

Barbados’ finest hour…….of darkness that is.

  18. Warrior

The two above post are mine, don’t understand how anonymous came up

  19. Rumplestilskin

What, our ‘finest hour’ resulted in five ICC match officials being severely censured?

Minister was talking without brain engaged.

  20. Wishing in Vain

    Rumplestilskin
Does he ever engage his brain in any attempt to speak?
Not on the evidence that I have seen over the years remember his outburst when Oba won Bronze from his outburst he Lynch displayed, had he run the race he would have gotten gold what an idiot.

…. FH@, I agree, this match qualifies for entry into the “Book of Heroic Failures”!!

  23. PLOVER

Personally I did not follow the CWC very closely because I had better things to do. But let me share this TRUTH with you for what it is worth.

The Cricket Sportswriter in the Toronto Star Newspaper wrote a scathing attack about how bad the CWC was. He said it was the worse CWC on record and in history and to quote him he said it was a blessing that the event would not return to the Caribbean for at least I think it was 20 years but it might have been 10. I cannot tell you all of the negative things he had to say because some slip my mind.

All I remember thinking when reading it was what a different spin the Caribbean was putting on the event compared to what Foreign journalist were saying about it. You would have thought both party’s were talking about a different CWC
