PRESS RELEASE: May Day Collection Details

The Sanitation Service Authority is informing the public there’ll be no collections on May Day 2007.

All national disposal sites and cemeteries will be closed for business on May Day 2007 as well – normal collections resume May 2nd 2007.

In addition, post-Cricket World Cup, the SSA will be stopping the 10:00 pm to 4:00 am detail along specific routes, which ran since February 26th, and its hours for regularly scheduled collections resume on 7th May 2007.

The Mangrove Pond Landfill will now operate only between 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Mondays through Saturdays.

The Sanitation Service Authority thanks the public for their support and cooperation.

Forgive me but I am having problems understanding the SSA press release above.
In one paragraph you write “… normal collections resume on 2nd 2007.”
Then in the next paragraph you write “… regularly scheduled collections resume on 7th May 2007.”
    Could you please explain.

  2. Brasoda: there are 3 announcements

    announcement 1:
Deals with Disposal sites and cemetaries. On May day which is May 1st. they will be close. On May 2nd they will resort back to the routine that existed on April 31st also known as the “Normal routine” that is they will be open.

    anouncement 2:
Deals with pickups on specific routes and the extended times these routes where service during world cup. Regular schedules means that the 10:00 pm to 4:00am worldcup schedule will cease at the close of May 6th. In other words if you lived on any of the routes that you would have seen or heard a garbage truck between the hours 10:00 pm and 4:00am, come May 7th you will no longer see or hear one between those times.

    Announcement 3:
well you didn’t seem to have a problem with this one. 😀

Interesting that we are at least being informed by the Sanitation Dept.Today(30/4/07) I visited the Oistens Post Office at 12 45 AM, to find it locked up, with a hand made sign that said “Closed for lunch.12 00)…I then asked the security guard if this meant that they would reopen at 1PM…”no ” he says. ” you got to come back at 1.45″….what the hell is going on? Do they have any management there? I called the Postmaster Generals office, and was thanked for the info, but they had no idea why the place was closed for lunch. This kind of service makes me feel like never paying another cent of income tax to this government!
