St. Andrew MP George Payne Highlights Land Slippage In Area Of Greenland Dump

George Payne’s Speech Heavily Criticized Own Government’s Failures

MP George Payne apparently pulled no punches at a recent BLP meeting – even though the Prime Minister was sitting right beside him.

The article in the Nation News is worth reading just to see a sitting MP listing the unfulfilled promises made by his own government – which are promptly answered by more promises from Attorney-General Dale Marshall. Same old, same old.

One of the unintended highlights of Mr. Payne’s talk was the mention of land slippage in St. Andrew – the area of the Greenland Dump where his government says that land slippage is not an issue.

I guess the land slippage that Payne is talking about magically stops at the Greenland dump’s property lines!

Just look at that picture and it says a lot here we have the PM getting lambasted by his own member of parliment but meanwhile he is smiling broadly as if it is not a problem, these polticians making too much laughing sport of doing the peoples business and do not give one bit about the cares or the worries of the average man in the street.
Even after Payne’s revelation about land slippage is the Gov’t still willing to persue the dump there? surely they cannot be so bull headed to continue with this project? was it the same Liz Thompson who presided over it the last time? why does Owing not fire her for failing to carry out the peoples wishes?
    More steal in there to?

“George Payne pulled no punches “- what.

This is all part of the show – pure electioneering.

Where was George Payne for the last 6 years after he was fired by owen in 2000?

He says in that article that:”he didnot talk because he doesnot know how to speak foolishness”.

So all the debate that went on in the house re the sale of land to foreigners, the QEH woes, the high cost of living etc was ‘foolishness’ that he didnot want to engage in?

    I hope his constituents listening.

These BLP people really take us for a fool.

  3. justice

Surely George Payne cannot really expect to be taken seriously now? “Silly” season is such an apt description for these times. He should continue his “vow’ of silence if hedoes not wish to be considered an opportunist of the highest (lowest?) order.

Let us thank God that a miracle has occurred, i.e. a fellow poster on another forum had expressed the concern that George had become a deaf mute!

    Alas he can speak : – )

  5. all the talk George still going to beat kill anybody that run against him in St Andrew.

  6. Fun in the sun

Jdid, lets do like the blind man said lets just wait and see, these fellows only making real sport with the Bajans because they know that we Bajans have short memories.

Well said Jupiter. This most I heard George Payne say in six years. Why is he in House of Assembly? His representation or lack of it is a farce and massive waste of taxpayers money. George Payne in that hat looks straight from central casting for a cheap comedy movie. What a waste he is. The taxpaying citizens paying through our noses for his unbelievable rubbish.

  8. No - Name

They all laughing at us. This joint meeting between George and Owen was one big show ….Owen saying that COW is ‘silly’ is only for public consumption….because this is the same COW who Owen already spoke to in relation to contributing money for the upcoming elections. What is the difference in the mental state of George Payne and Minister “Rambling” Eastmond? They both are complaining about the same thing….one is sent to the hospital by the MOH while the other one who only talks because he ” does not know how to speak foolishness,”
is allowed to walk free and visit the house at least once every three months.

How can he expect people to take him seriously especially when he implies that his fellow Parliamentarians are always speaking foolishness!!

    no-name:

at the end of the day it is what Paynes constituents think and based on feedback they are happy.

“”George Payne in that hat looks straight from central casting for a cheap comedy movie.””

I forgot to mention thats probably why Owen is laughing

Folks did any of you see todays Nation newspaper where there is a front page story about the arrival of the Scotish cricket team much to my utter disgust here we have in a peaceful fun loving place like Barbados we are now being potrayed as gun bearing louts on high alert for a terrorist attack at our airport, could this not have been enforced more discretely and with a less in your face approach after all we all know that the gov’t can afford to buy guns they do not need to advertise that on the front page of the daily paper.
To hell with the fun in the sea and the sun approach to tourism now welcome to Barbados where as you walk outside the airport your security will be taken care of by the armed guards standing outside the doorway they are there to prevent any bombs, snipers or groggist attacking you.
This picture is a sad reflection as to where the cricket world cup organisers have stooped to carry out the wishes of the ones in dark suits.

    By George !!!

    Hats off to you !!!

Ah hope you realise that Owen’s look and demeanour is saying quite CLEARLY…..to you, ” that every skin teet ain’t NO laugh…!!! “

  13. Wishing in Vain

Jerome it sure does, seems to be saying just watch what I am going to do to you as soon as I get the chance give you another shafting in you know where.

By the looks on their faces they must have packed the unbreakables and had been having a few see thru’s see the looks on their faces, opps I forgot now that Owen is married to this lady he may not drink any more ( I know what you guys are saying or any less either) and she has warned Owing to stay clear of Nicholls as she knows what Nicholls use to provide for Owing when he was on the loose and she not allowing him to indulge in that slack lifestyle any longer.

Did it take Payne six years to realise that he used to talk a lot and foolishness before? We all know that Owen Arthur said that he fired Payne for comments he made while standing on a table – since he was too short – to address an audience of Bajans at Montpellier Pub in London. Since then, Payne has ignored the people of St. Andrew who put him there and contributed nothing to public debate or discussion.

Do you mean it would have been “foolishness” if Payne had pleaded for his constituents before? Would it be foolishness for him to still oppose publicly the Greenland dump? Did it take Payne six years to remember that land prices were escalating because of the negligence of Owen Arthur? Or foolish for him to comment on the cost of living? Or the people from St. Andrew who were victimised?

Come on, George you are a complete disappointment! This is the best example of foolishness I have seen in a long time.

That George Payne may win in St Andrew again says nothing abut his talents, buffoonery or lack of charisma. It does not even say anything about the constituency….but it does say something about the sysytem we have; where even a crapaud in the right party in the right place at the right time may be elected to Parliament.

Actually your observation can be applied regionally:lets say John Compton?

  20. Scotland

bk your last sentence does not make what justice states about buffoonery as it pertains to payne any less true

  21. Velzo

Bajans are not as foolish as you all think. In 1986 they swept them all out and left three. In 1994 they swept out another set.

There will be no space for lazy George Payne despite what Adrian says about his family… and I’m not suprised that his family express themselves in that way.

LB Brathwaite fixed roads, gave jobs in BWA and Transport Board but when the swing hit, he was out on his ear. Louis Tull gave everybody in St. George South a job in School Meals, but as populr as he was supposed to be, out on his ear he was. We won’t even mention Prime Minister Harold St. John who lost in two swings!

Payne is an enbarassment to St. Andrew and as Barney Lynch said, we will take the “pain” out of St. Andrew.

  22. Is the DLP candidate who will oppose Payne any more charismatic or able? Perhaps I should know, but I don’t, but I hope DLP have a good contender.

  23. justice

She is at least attractive, as flippant as this sounds and for what it is worth. She is a good writer too. Obviously, in St Andrew, a lack of representation counts for very little in the scheme of things.

  24. She will be an excellent representative for St.Andrew and she is going to put some pain in Payne. I can’t wait for the short man to call general elections.

  25. thursday

…hahahaha velzo I remember laughing hard when Lynch expalin he became tourism minister to take ‘pain’ out of the industry. Lynch has a big mouth.all now payne has not forgiven Lynch or owen arthur for firing him. ask roy morris hahahaha

  26. thursday

….hahahah surely you jest nameless one ,you must get out more at night downtown thats where action is…hahahahaha

lord have mercy on poor St. Andrew. Payne has risen from the grave like a vampire. His aim is to suck the blood of the people of St. Andrew once again. Maybe i should say St. James, since it is the folks in places like Orange Hill, Endeavour, Baywoods, Apes Hill and such areas who really vote for him in large numbers. Any opponent is beaten 5 to 1 in that area of the constituency. George Payne has spoken only three times in the last 4 years of the new parliament. He lets his hatred of Owen Arthur affect his work on behalf of the people of the people of the constituency for which he is elected. Most likely he will be elected again. He knows that money talks and he has wads of them. Look out for the parties and free fetes, as well as $500.00 donations to individual constituents. He will do the same for his bosom buddy in St. Joseph. Lord have mercy. St. Andrew voters will put him back again and more silence will be their lot. He will come out crying, begging pardon and sympathy, and the voters will say “good lord, geh he another chance). hahahahahaha.
