Government Supporter Critical Of Barbados Free Press Is Posting Under Different Names

BLP Government Spin Master Makes A Mistake – Deception Revealed

Defends Corrupt Government Minister Gline Clarke – Uses 3 Identities!

It is amazing how those accusing Barbados Free Press of hiding an agenda, often themselves stoop to posting false support for their own position – posting again and again under different names to give the appearance of strength in numbers!

We’ve seen government supporters do this many times before, so we thought we’d share this latest deception with our readers.

While we were not able to see exactly where our government supporter was located, he or she used the same internet access point each time – not knowing that simply changing their internet name would not conceal that all the comments were coming from the same person.

barbados-woman-1.jpg

Identity #1 “Kelly”

It started yesterday (26th) with a “Kelly” posting a comment on our article Former Barbados Tourism Authority Chairman Arranges Security Breach For Strangers At Cricket World Cup.

We had mistakenly indicated that Hudson Husbands was still Chairman of the BTA and “Kelly” alerted us to this – but in a most critical manner. You can look at “Kelly’s” comment here.

Our moderator corrected the article and left a thank you for “Kelly” for pointing out our error.

“Kelly” then posted another comment on our article Nation News Article About Political Blogging And Websites Ignores Barbados’ Most Popular Political Blog

“Kelly’s” comments were a backhanded slap at Barbados Free Press, accusing us of using our blog to “to spew untruths, deceptions, lies and propaganda.” You can read “Kelly’s” comment here.

barbados-woman-2.jpg

Identity #2 “Sharon”

Earlier today (27th), our government supporter surfaced again, this time using the name “Sharon” to comment on our article WINNER ANNOUNCED: Barbados Piggies At The Trough Award 2006.

“Sharon” launched into a lengthy comment supporting the BLP government and Prime Minister Owen Arthur, who had won the 2006 Barbados Piggies At The Trough Award. “Sharon” called Barbados Free Press a “DLP Propaganda Website” and generally tore into us – taking a misinformed or deceptive position that we at BFP are not critical of wrongdoing by the opposition DLP and their leader David Thompson.

Not realizing at the time that “Sharon” was posting under multiple names, a BFP moderator once again left a respectful response for “Sharon”. You can read “Sharon’s” comment and BFP’s response here.

barbados-man.png

Identity #3 “Rufus”

Less than an hour after posting as a female “Sharon”, our government supporter returned to the same Piggies At The Trough story and posted under another name – this time using the male name of “Rufus”.

“Rufus” addressed his comment to “Sharon” and said he agreed with what “she” had said. “Rufus” further added some political comments directed at Opposition Leader David Thompson.

Our government supporter had quite the conversation with herself / himself! You can read the comment here.

Then the fun starts when “Rufus” engages another BFP reader in conversation and accuses that reader of being a “David Thompson DLP operative”. You have to appreciate the irony, folks!

“Rufus” then launches into a smoke and mirrors defense of our corrupt Minister of Public Works, Gline Clarke – saying that Minister Clarke lives on his father’s land in St. George and not with his defacto spouse on expropriated land. (For background see Barbados Government Minister Gline Clarke – House and Mercedes On Expropriated Land)

You can read the second comment by “Rufus” here.

The Truth Is Discovered

These government operatives whose job is to do damage control at Barbados Free Press by posting in the comments section often attempt to have conversations with themselves under multiple names, but our readers seem to sniff them out after a day or two. It is usual for our readers to become aware of multiple identities before the editors do because our attention is focused on spam control and writing new articles – thus our moderators politely thanked “Kelly” and engaged “Sharon” in conversation without realizing they were the same person.

After two BFP readers became suspicious and sent us an email, Cliverton looked at the IP data and discovered that “Kelly”, “Sharon” and “Rufus” were the same person.

Just Another Day At Barbados Free Press

We thought our readers would be interested in some of the intrigue that goes on behind the scenes.

Is it past noon yet? Good!

Darlin’ – grab me a Banks please!

🙂

Darn those Government BLP spin masters know how to twist, distort and deceive!

Too bad for them that they didn’t realize they posted under the same IP address and revealed their deceit.

    Stupes!

As I think further on the work of these BLP operatives on this site I considered the following:

First they sent anonymous out of the mission in England to suggest that the gov’t knew who were posting and they were going to shut the site down in a week.

Then 2 ministers came on the site telling us they wanted to answer our questions – that is – until we started to ask the hard questions – suddenly the answers dried up.

Then they started to hack the sites, then to try and lure the BFP adminstrators into identifying themselves – in an attempt to create ‘bare’ chaos.

Not succeeding with the above they then resorted to posting nasty, vulgar comments about their own party members and going so far as to use the name of regular contributors.

The aim?- to try and discredit BFP.

Now they have resorted to posting support for the government under one name(let’s say Kelly) the same person then posts support for the first name – that is Kelly – now using another name – say sharon.

What is even hilarious ,sharon although he/she is Kelly starts to write about ‘we the women of Barbados’.

Then Rufus comes – who is the same as sharon and kelly – and supports the gov’t on another post on the site – thus making it seem as though there is massive support.

    You can easily recognise them.

So that’s why BFP has to be very vigilant that they don’t try to hijack this site – by howling loud about disrespect for the prime minister or lynette eastmond – or saying that BFP is pro DLP- so that BFP now tries extra hard to show that – this is not so.

That’s why when Adrian said:Dennis Johnson said he found BFP to be partisan to the Dlp – I started hearing echoes of RoyalRumble.

I can not believe that the bunch of cowards who run this blog would be interested in finding out posters identities. Why don’t you indentify yourselves?

    *********************

    Comment by Cliverton

    Hi Marcus2

We don’t know the identities of posters. Like any blog or website though, we can tell if one person is visiting many times or once, or if they are posting comments under multiple names but are in fact, one person.

For instance, we can see that you are somewhere in the Chicago area and have not posted a comment before on BFP. At least recently. That’s about all we can tell about you.

We don’t reveal our identities because the political elites have no trouble abusing their authority to prevent a public call for transparency, integrity and accountability legislation, which is our primary goal.

It is all about freedom of speech and saving democracy.

As a (fellow) American, I presume that you can appreciate such concepts.

    Thanks for stopping by!

    ——————————–

Could you elaborate on this? What could it be that you are suggesting? What is it that your partisan mind is intimating?

The BFP is partisan it doesn’t take much to figure that out. As i say it is not in my interest to give aid and comfort to the BLP, at the same time i will dismiss what i know.
    ———

BTW. BFP a while back when i suggested that Velzo and “trueblue” might be the same person and asked for you to verify it, I was labeled as being dangerous, attempting to censor etc. since then the number of persons you have outed have numbered 3-4. Could you find it in your heart to tell us if it is so or not? Of course you can say no it is not, we would be none the wiser. 😀 Jerome are you a card carrying D or are you just “an average Bajan”? lawrd de folliment here duz killed me but i tink uh could hold out till election time.

    ***************************

    Hi Adrian

Yes, I said I would look into it, but it dropped to the bottom of the list until you mentioned it again now. Out of curiosity I have looked at the posts of both Vezlo and Trueblue and I cannot find any duplicate IPs. While this does not mean that they are NOT the same person, it means that there is no technical evidence to show that they are the same person.

Once again friends, although like any blog or website we can see generally the area where people are coming from (ie: Chicago vs London) we cannot identify specific persons or their specific location. Your identity and location remains your secret. We can tell if someone is posting from one computer and using multiple names on the comments.

    What a joke!

The BLP is still trying to paint you as DLP operatives when it is clear to all but the most thick headed and obstinate that this site is about fairness, equity, justice and transparency across the board.

These are concepts beyond the ken of local politicians becaused they are raised in an atmosphere of lies and deceit where power and not honesty and integrity is the motivating force.

  7. ha ha ha ha oh well you are correct, can’t argue without information to suggest otherwise. 😀

  9. Are Bajans over-in-away censored by Bajans at home?
    —————————————
As i travel from bajan website to bajan website around the net, one common refrain comes to the fore. There seems to be reluctancts on the part of Barbadians at home to extend to Bajan Yankees the right to be critical of anything on the rock. This is drawn out in a number of situations, most recently as i made comments on the death of the 4 year old girl at the Q.E.H.. After carefull review of the arguments against the general tone of shock and anger at this situation both at home and abroad, with the unanimity of opinions that suggest long wait times are a problem in need of a solution; I wondered why there is the willingness to argue with Bajans over in away for their views, and absense of a similar approach to the nearmost continuous drumbeat of doom and gloom in Barbados by the BFP.:D Is there some unwritten and or spoken code that says Bajans over in-away are forbidden from making negative comments about Barbados even if in agreement with Bajans at home?

    Drumbeat of Doom and gloom:
Yes i am accusing the BFP of this. 😀 and yes i think you are partisan and yes i wish to God that i did not have to think so, but so it is and so be it.:D The GoB, the BLP and it’s supporters paints a different picture. Without doubt I am under no allusions why they would say what they are saying, but who is correct? what is the truth? who is most likely to be correct? BFP/DLP? or the GOB/BLP? such is not and easy task, as it seems that everyone is in some camp or the other.

When the BFP/DLP says that all is not well with caricom visas, visa requirements, processing, and issuance, and the BLP/GOB reports that all is well and issuance is moving fast pace ahead with over 15,000 issued already, who is correct?

When BFP/DLP says that land is being sold out too foreigners at an alarming rate and The GoB/blp say this is not the case who is correct?

    …………………….

Overlapping concerns againts indifference from the BLP/GOB:

As the only declared and proven non-partisan contributor to this site.:D (any body remember that great race horse “blow your horn”?) They are plenty situations with which the BFP/DLP can mask their partisan nature as genuine patriotic concern, oh and to which i subscribe. The list is so long and my mental capacity is so limited, that i would ask Jerome Hinds to present that list which he does with so much ease. A few but big ones that i can remember are as follows.

IMMIGRATION: I am expecting a big backlash from bajan to the BLP on this. There is no excuse for the number of guyanese and others in Barbados

Land: I am expecting a big backlash from Bajan, to the BLP for not addressing what to my mind is addressable. The real case about land can be address but the festering of foistered opinions has led to a sense of truism with these perceptions.

High retail prices: I am expecting a big backlash from Bajans to the BLP as a result of long held views of the merchant class, the relationship that is believed to be still in existance between them and the BLP laid bare by a number of things like Freundel Stuart series of speeches, the continuiong debate on economic control, and confirmation of who is to blame for the 25 % increase in retail prices.

Watch out there Adrian. We all know ya telling the truth.. But certain “otherwise” intelligent Bajans like to shoot the messenger and hide the body rather than fix the problem. LOL

Remember the BBC web page that was critical of Barbados? I think it’s fair to say the “political pressure” killed it.. But guess what, things now 25% more expensive, service still sucks. Only in Barbados…

Maybe we should exchange names. I experience reality as it is, not as i wish it where. I would then make recommendation to those experiences to effect the change i wish to see..

The reality for me is that i find useless to hope for, to be optimistic about, to honestly view, integrity in a group of people who are emmersed in a system THAT DEMANDS OF THEM TO BE CORRUPT, TO PASS AND EXCEPT PAYMENTS, TO SEEK AND EXTEND PATRONAGE, AND TO BE RESPONSIBLE YET NOT RESPONSIBLE. When we accept that men are fallable, that human nature is such that once aid by lack of checks and balances, and committments in writing as laws, and rules, held high by transperancy, then it will show it’s ugly head, as the many stories thus far can atest. Yet we must not cowar in the face of the enormity of task in combating our fall from grace. We must commit ourselve not to put our trust in men like ourselves for we know our own weakness, that we must commit to an impartial set of rules that all men seeking to be representatives of thier fellow Barbadian are hereby to be adjudged, for effectiveness, truthfullness, thrusworthness, etc.

In other words de system needs to be change and thats where de energy must be.

    Adrian,

It was a BBC web site. Last time I went to it they had a note saying it was taken by the author due to the complaints he had received. I remember it well cause I took a tongue lashing for agreeing and pointing out some other issues we have on this rock.. Like the carcass of an old Subaru that was home to a family of rats in town for over 2 years that nobody seemed to know who owned (despite the number plates still being on it) I don’t know if it’s there still or not, but I can tell you it was still there when we “celebrated” Bridgetown’s 375 year.. Pride? Hell no! Industry? Well maybe.. it was after all low cost housing for rodents.

One needs a good sense of humour for this lil rock. Or you will go crazy.

So Adrian, please keep up the good work and help make this site a stronger voice for us Bajans that don’t have blinders on.

    Have a great day!

Reality check! Why worry? Life is not permanent anyways! LOL

Sharon, Kelly, Rufus. .It’s ok we love you all. We are happy your are passionate about your favorite political party and love to see you defending them valiantly. One question though, are you sure of your facts?

BFP is a wonderful place because everyone can comment, argue, and even bluster. What I like best is that it has promised that if it publishes any comments that are just plain wrong others will correct them. That is the beauty of the blog community.

But when you tell us Owen Arthur, David Thomson, or any one else diddn’t do what is said, then please set the record straight with the facts that you know or ask them to do so personally. Otherwise you are not adding to the usefulness of this worthwhile blog where we get to see things others are afraid to talk about.

So many spin doctors, I hope the people of Barbados, see through a lot of their hog wash, and do not get distracted by their showmanship.
It’s amazing that a government who has been in power for almost 15 years, that has time and time again used it’s full arsenal against the opposition, that has labelled it a never make it party, has to resort to more than 12 years ago when being critical of them. Yet issues such as Gline Clarke’s sleep over palace on questionable land, Bostic’s questionable appointment,The Days of our lives saga at CBC, all get knock off with a wave of the hand, with weak excuses being put forward, as though we are their play toys to be used when their are in the mood. ENOUGH

  22. Wishing in Vain

BFP I would consider this the greatest form of flattery, sadly anyone living in these times and can so blindly support the BLP desperately needs help, these people have destoyed every area of this island with their carelessness and contemptous manner and to back it up with stealing by workers at the hospital to stealing at the highest levels in the form of the Hallam Nicholls / Owing Arthur combination who have combined to create the single largest threat to this island in terms of money laundering ever amassed this reaches into the multi millions of our taxpayers dollars.
Nicholls / Arthur deeds The 10000 slot machines, the prison, the west coast sewage treatment plant, the land at holders, the storage facility at Christ Church, the commission on each vehicle imported into Barbados for the Gov’t of Barbados and the list goes on.
And you want me to vote for this pack again? voting them into the history books as the most corrupt leader and party.

Adrian wants me to enter and discredit him. I am no puppet on a string. I think Trueblue, Holiday and I have done so much over the last few months and even days to show Adrian’s feigned cynicisn, inconsistencies and strategy that its not worth pursuing.

Adrian will keep going on a topic as long as he can show that although the BLP is bad all politicians – especially DLP ones – are the same. Good strategy. But once he is not suceeding, he moves on to another site and another topic to spin that point of view.

BTW, is anyone surprised that the rumours about Mia came within a month of Adrians tirades against her on this and other sites? Think about it. Adrian is an Owen Arthur mouth-piece but tries, quite clumsily and inelegantly, to be otherwise.

I am no hypocrite. I support the Dems led by David Thompson. I believe that Barbados needs a change and the the Dems have said and done enough to convince me that they are ready. I am not afraid to say so. Take my comments for what they are worth and me for what I am.

It is also very easy for one person to post from multiple sites – I do that when I travel. Defending Gline Clarke does not seem plausible to me. No matter where he lives, he knows that the land his Mercedes is parked on was forcibly taken from a landowner for low-income housing, and he knows that it is now being used for private high-income housing, and obviously by a very close friend of his. How did this land pass into private ownership? This is wrongdoing.

  31. bajejun

WRONG!! WRONG!! WRONG!! and worse yet he has the backing of his colleagues in the BLP who jump at every opportunity to defend him, what does this say about them. As was rightfully said this was land that was forcefully taken from someone who owned it. My God is there no values or respect in this country anymore.
