I wish to assure our friends in Australia that this will be ironed out. That’s what Barbados Deputy Prime Minister Mia Mottley said about the Australian visa office.

Too bad that the office hasn’t yet been rented, that the computers are waiting for pickup at FedEx and that the visa processing team is missing in action.

I wonder how many personnel that Caricom has hired in Australia to process applications?
Do the processors have to be Caricom citizens? It wouldn’t make sense to have Australians doing security checks on Australians for Caricom, or would it?
I also wonder why this visa process was laid on at the last moment? Surely the people in charge of security for CWC knew about this a year ago?
So many questions and so few answers – like zero.

Sorry to have to post this several times but there are a few threads open on the same subject.
Jamaica has now announced it has broken with the rest of the cricketing Caribbean over the Common Caribbean Visa, and will let in cricketing visitors without a visa. No sure this applies to all countries but definitely Australia and New Zealand where they fear massive cancellations.
This could affect the Common Visa for all of us, as the US$100 will no longer include Jamaica.
So much for Mia’s efficiency. What a mess! It could turn what should have been a remunerative triumph into a disastrous embarrasment.
