Daily Mail – Barbados “Stem-Cell Capital Of The Developed World”

The article was published back in August and comes up in a search for “tourist Barbados clinic”.

Hey – too bad the article is called…

“A Barbaric Kind Of Beauty”

Barbaric – Barbados… catchy tourist slogan, eh?

Methinks that Barbados got way more publicity and a different sort of publicity than it had in mind when it allowed The Institute For Regenerative Medicine to set up.

Robert….. I think this was an honest mistake by the Government.
They now will have to do damage control.

  2. Why is it a mistake? Because someone in Hingland sey so? This is about money plain and simple. This is no different than the black listing that we got from OECD for having an off shore business industry. Simply because we in the Caribbean are seen as third world does not give the so called British gentleman the right to conclude that we are indeed caught up in the deaths of healthy babies in the Ukraine. This is about control and they are using scare tactics to achieve their end. I say we can have guidlines for stem cell research and what ever else is associated with it, without the oversite that gives these individuals the power. We can fall for this nonsense and end up with little to show for having the facilities here. Who made the most from our hard sweat and tears in the sugar industry? who made the most from allowing these tricky Brits to control our telecommunications infastructer and growth? I would hope that stem cell research holds some promise to correct the national flaw in the average Brit set of teeth. 😀 there is a reason for the stiff upper lip. 😀

Government may have to put some spin on this and close the offending clinic while investigations proceed…but has this really harmed Barbados’ reputation? When you live outside of Barbados for a while you realise that many of the things that cause big waves at home make nary a ripple in the wider world…mind you, that doesn’t make the whole mess any less nauseating…

Murdered babies make it not “just about money plain and simple”

Read the reports. The swiss MPs talk about a “culture of abortion” behind the stem cell industry where Ukraine women are paid to become pregnant and have abortions. Some have had as many as 40 abortions.

    Not just about money friend.

The culture of abortion has been long-present in countries that comprise the former Soviet Union. The USSR was the first country to legalise abortion, back in 1920. Millions of abortions, literally, have happened over there since then. I have heard that in some of the former Soviet states, or their satellites, there are more abortions performed than there are live births, per annum. Rather than the demand driving the supply, clearly the supply is way ahead of demand, from the point of veiw of those who want to get their hands on foetal genetic material from that part of the world…

God Bless David ….Having an abortion because of unwanted pregnancy can be rationalised.

Murdering new born babies for profit is revolting and disgusting beyond belief.

Barbados must distance itself from this if any of it is true.

Back up a little. It is yet to be conclusively proven that , healthy babies are being murdered for stem cells, is it yet to be proven that the clinic in Barbados are indeed using such cells and that they have done knowingly. I can be repulse by the thought of such occuring in the Ukraine, but i need proof, and while the proof is forthcoming i will not legislate, shut down, or short change myself for fear that there is a remote connection between me an this activity.

Whether it is murdered babies, child prostitution, child slavery, or any other devious activity, it is always about money. Even the partisan opinions on this subject in this forum is about money. 😀

How about proven the link first before requesting any action on our part? Just becuase the British gossip media say it is so does not make it so. These people are very bias. Stem cell research in Bratain is reputable, but in Holland and the caribbean and probably in the U.S they would suggest that it is not.

Adrian….. why don’t you research this topic on the Net and see if you still think it is just “gossip”.

The dismissive comment above does nothing to further solidify your contentions at the local level.
if you have the info to prove the link between dead ukrainian babies and the GoB please put it out. I think is it gossip as far as clinics in the caribbean is mention in the same article as dead ukrainian babies without demonstrating conslusive evidence to prove the link between the two. I will at some point tear these British news articles apart to highlight the inconsistencies that a few have hinted at.

Adrian, I sincerely hope that there is no truth to these stories and the British press is wrong.

    Barbados first always.
