Who In Barbados Received The Stolen Money?

A Bajan-born Manhattan USA lawyer has been indicted for stealing over US$1.6 million from clients – but who in Barbados received the stolen money?

Campbell Holder, 58, told police that he gave a good portion of the money away to relatives and friends in the USA and Barbados.

According to the A/P North Country Gazzette article here

Many of the victims are members of the Bajan community in New York who hired the defendant specifically because he is from Barbados. Some of the victims included:

Two victims from Barbados are the beneficiaries of their son’s estate. The son, who lived in Brooklyn, had been an assistant manager at a Rite Aid in Brooklyn. Two years ago, the son had tried to stop a shoplifter inside the store and was stabbed to death. Holder was hired, based upon a referral from a friend, to handle the son’s estate. The defendant allegedly stole all the estate money, which totaled approximately $300,000.

The Associated Press article posted by North Country Gazette provides many more details, but doesn’t answer the question… Who in Barbados received the stolen money?

Guess the USA will soon be repatriating anothe Bajan.

Somehow I don’t think he will add significantly to the existing crime scene here.

And he is in the right profession already. They should make him a judge!

LOL Ross! You people are soo cold! I hope that they lock him up for a very long time. If he is sent here to Harrison’s Point, even better. Hope after his first two days he’s not able to sit down for a very long time.

This is a very sad story, who would have thought it? Does anyone know this individual? What is the situation surrounding his personal life?

I was one of Holder’s victims. I lost $20,000.00 to him. I hope he gets what’s coming to him.

Frank, I am truly sorry for what happend to you and the others.
It is especially heinous when a person is exploited and abused by someone you felt was a member of the “Bajan” family.
I hope his victims can get some if not all of their money back.

I wouldn’t trust a Barbadian male with my money and I would never get one as a lawyer.

your statement is very offensive to me as a male barbadian lawyer and i would think that my barbadian colleagues would feel the same. you must believe that one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. that statement is so ignorant, it is surprising that anybody with common sense would put her name to it.
it is certainly your prerogative to entrust your money and your legal matters to whomever you choose but please dont judge all of the good people of barbados by the criminality of one man.

carl belgrave you must know there are quite a few bad apples among Barbadian lawyers. Barbadians are concerned that when people complain about lawyers the bar association seems to suffer bouts of inertia.

I hope Mr. Holder rots in jail for a mighty long, long, long time. He also had my son’s case and stole all his money. He deserves everything that is coming to him, as you sow what you reap, and he is really going to reap a whole lot more than he had imagined. I hope this is a lesson to all those crooked lawyers.

It is a disgrace that you cannot even trust your own coutryman. The report states findings from 2002 to 2006 where he stole $1.6 million, what about all those people he stole from during the prior years of his practice. I am sure he has been stealing from his clients for a long time and taking the money and living big like a big shot (big shit). Good that everything he had was taken away from him except the actual money he spent. He is a dirty good for nothing scum of the earth, who needs to be put away for a long time away from his family? and friends?

They should let him stay in jail a year for each dollar he stole, although they only can account for $1.6 million. I am sure the stole much, much more since they did not go back as far as when he started practicing (stealing). I am very glad that the money will be returned to the young man in college. I hope that there will be a way to return if not all some of the other monies to the other victims. I hope he is really smiling now driving in his BMW, Lexus and fancy living…..IN JAIL.

In the mid-1990’s one of Campbell Holder’s girlfriends, Angela King, got me a job working with him. It was one of the worst working experiences I have ever had and one of the shortest. Campbell turned out to be one of the most dishonest and incompetent people I have ever met. At that time he was handling only immigration, divorce and personal injury cases but handling them very badly. People were constantly calling and threatening him because he had taken their money and did no work or had botched their cases completely. In addition his behaviour was so erratic, I suspected that there was ‘other illegal’ activity going on in that office as well. To make matters worse, I discovered that Angela was not the only love interest in his life (even though she thought she was). It was a horrible environment to work in. I was always afraid that the FBI, DEA, IRS, an irate client or lover etc. was going to burst through the door at any minute and I would be shot dead. After a few weeks I just could not take it anymore. I told him off in a very dramatic fashion and left.

I tried to warn Angela about him, but she would not listen, she thought I was lying about the things I had witnessed and experienced in his office and was simply jealous of her because she had a boyfriend who was a lawyer. She ended our relationship, continued to see him and subsequently because his “baby mama”. With this news smeared all over the newspapers in New York, it must be very difficult for her to explain to little Cammie why she wouldn’t be seeing big Cammie for a few years.

Fortunately, the Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection will compensate those clients who can prove that they were swindled, but the whole affair has left me thinking that if I had alerted the Bar Association or the police about what I had observed in the office, then some of these people could have been spared a whole lot of pain.

  19. Disgusted

It is unfortunate that some very decent members of the Holder family had to share the disgrace of this egotistical fool. He not only hurt his clients but disgraced his family. Personally, some of them are very decent, generous people who did not deserve this. What a jerk!

i am one of his victims and all i want is to have a chance to meet yhim face to face he did do time but not much at all his punish ment wasnt hardly enough for the pain he has caused his clients.
