No-show NBKA candidates need more courage, more doing and less talk
Last August the founder of the New Barbados Kingdom Alliance (NBKA), Lynroy Scantlebury (photo above), said his new political party would be running at least 10 candidates in the election that was then expected in November. The longer the election was held off, the more candidates the NBKA would run…
… or so Mr. Scantlebury said. Lately he was saying that the NBKA would run 15 or 17 candidates.
With deposit day come and gone, we now know how many NBKA candidates are running: One, that being Lynroy Scantlebury himself in St. Peter.
Mr. Scantlebury was recently quoted in the Barbados Advocate saying that the other candidates backed off due to “tremendous levels of victimisation coming from both parties”. That’s what he said last December too in Barbados Today’s New Party Cries foul.
That could have happened I suppose and it probably did – but just how much credibility can Scantlebury and his “party” have left after their aborted election run? Not much no matter how much “victimisation” came their way. If you want to see a real “victim” of politics, one only has to look as far as Taan Abed – the former DLP candidate who is running as an independent in Christ Church West.
Taan Abed declared his candidacy last August, and with 38% of Bajans willing to vote independent Taan has a real chance to win his seat. That would be something to shake up the old guard!
Mr. Scantlebury and his candidates need more courage, more doing and less talk.

And please change that parties name, why does everything in Bim have to contain royal or kingdom, get some originally fresh nbames and ideas and then maybe people will take you seriously.
ON ANOTHER NOTE:
However, Kearney said: “There have been very few money-laundering investigations [and] even fewer money-laundering prosecutions here in Barbados. Perhaps there is no money-laundering taking place here in Barbados. I will leave you to be the judge of that.
“Legislation is just the first step. It is pointless enacting legislation if you are not going to enforce it,” he added.
Kearney said the information reported was not being acted on as it should and “we should ask ourselves why not”.
“This could be an indicator that the system is working. I also contend it is an indicator of failure because it could be that more suspicious activities are taking place in Barbados. Is Barbados therefore attracting more dirty money as no remedial action is being taken?”
Speaking on The Impact Of The Proceeds Of Crime Act And The MLFTA (2011), Kearney said: “Barbados is one of the few jurisdictions in the region that doesn’t have the ability to seize criminal cash, take criminal cash out of the economy, which most of the other jurisdictions have. That seizure of cash can be dealt with civilly rather than criminally.”
And besides, neither existing party wants to see a third party sucking on that golden goose on that they historically agree and will close ranks on, they will stop you without firing one bullet, so there.
I really have to ask this question, because it has been troubling me for quite sometime now. What has happened to the enduring qualities of honesty and integrity that once defined the Barbadian politician?
To which source do we attribute this new state of affairs to, in the Barbados of the present?
It seems like the politicians of new in Barbados, has allowed greed, nepotism, corruption, and self- interest to undermine the integrity they offices. And while at the same time the electorate steadily cries for transparency and accountability, as the politicians audaciously search for innovative ways to circumvent that system. As they continually undermine the collective conscience of the masses in process.
The politicians in our modern times, seems to be more concern about the personal affairs, rather than the public affairs.
Politicians in Bim continually use the fact that Bajans love to scandalize each other by wrapping their tongues around each other’s sex lives and personal business. This strategy by the politician is used as a tool to distract voters and continue their own selfish interests, the tool is very effective cause it works.
The CBC is not including independents in their list of candidates. SHAME!
There was a Youth meeting at Grand Salle on Thursday night where a Jared in his late 20′s suggested they form their own Party to ensure their needs are met, I am in the process of editing Audio for the story to appear this weekend
Again, CBC is like a political whorehouse funded by the taxpayer.
Amazing. An anonymous blog which claims to be anonymous because of fear of victimisation is crying down a group who has backtracked from previous plans to run for office because of actual victimisation. At least these people had the courage to publicly attempt change without hiding behind the protection of the anonymous world wide web!
Coalition of Unified Parties , C.U.P have the proof of the Massive Fraud that is on going in 2013 , Proof of this is the BLP and the DLP Manifesto .
