Ikael Tafari, the government-paid Director of the Commission for Pan African Affairs, has written a revealing article for the Nation News – expounding how Barbadians are quarrelsome and “Oedipal complainers”. I had to look up the meaning of “Oedipal” to make sure I wasn’t unaware of some meaning other than what I thought – but no, “Oedipal” still has to do with wanting to sleep with your mother and kill your father.
That must be some weed that Tafari was smoking when he wrote the article.
Tafari also says that the astrological signs and omens favour the Prime Minister calling an election next May.
Frankly, for predicting elections I favour chicken entrails under a full moon while turning three times to the left and shouting “BOOGA! BOOGA!”

Somebody please call the Prime Minister and have him read the article that is written by the man he chose to represent the country of Barbados in African matters.
Whatever Tafari was smoking when he wrote African Crossroads: Signs and Omens (3) – it must be the best stuff yet.

Somehow I don’t think Owen Arthur would need Ikael Tafari to advise him when astrological signs and omens favour him for calling elections, when the said Owen Arthur visits a Guyanese Spiritualist (must be to work some obeah on D.T.) whenever he visits New York. And we wonder why there are so many Guyanese living in Barbados?

I remember the Chiken Foot Voodoo Stick on BFP which was recommended for divining land use policy and as a cure for Arthuritis.
Maybe Ras Ikael needs to get one and see if it is in accord with the omens.

The problem is that we “small people” cannot think big enough, that is why we cannot see teh Ras Doctors’ logic. We are lacking in sociological thinking. We are only Mr and Mrs not Docs.
Just like the story with the emperors cloths. Us small folks cannot see the “pretty” cloth, to the untrained eye he was naked.
Dr. Ikael Tafari is brilliant. Be honest. How many folks reading this knew that Countries/Islands were also under the astrological signs? Hence Jamaica is Leo etc.. We are at his mercy to just be able to get a touch of his knowledge from the nationnews papers.

You’re badly confused, Undertaker. You seem not to have understood the point of the old fable at all.
There WERE no clothes. The Emperor WAS naked – and it took a small child to draw attention to what everybody knew but was too afraid to say.
Don’t let Tafari’s “brilliance” (in other words, his educational qualifications and verbal fluency, his apparent position of “authority”) intimidate you.
When he or any other Government lackey spouts pitiful rubbish of the kind found in this article, be bold enough to speak up like the child in the story.
That’s basically what the BFP is all about, right? Speaking the truth when others are too scared.
And in Ikael’s case, remember the expression “academic idiot”, and use it.

what does the dr. have to show for his collection of a salary from the public purse? several trips to africa for his cronies but no talk of scholarships for those interested in studying in africa. he couldnt even get the origin of ilaro right. someone had to tell him before he could clear up his lack of knowledge in his column. and how about all the other failed ventures in the name of pan-africanism? someone needs to check the records of his airy-fairy plans in that organisation. for example, the performers who had to stay in bim to get their money cause he refused to pay or the poor organisation of the global dialogue conference cultural evening where performers only knew they were performing when they saw it in the paper?the man sees himself as a demigod-but he is more like a tin-god to me!right now his talk about signs and wonders is just smoke to confuse the unwitting.
