National Hurricane Center – Hurricane Dean Latest Information
Sustained 155MPH Winds Will Exceed Gilbert (135MPH – 1988) and Charlie (100MPH – 1951)
This could be an unprecedented disaster for Jamaica – the 49th most densely-populated country in the world.
The Drudge Report is the place we usually check for the most complete and latest information from all news sources as Matt Drudge will be updating minute by minute. Even the CIA and White House have computers set to Drudge Report 24/7. (That’s true… do a little online research and you’ll see).
Pray For Our Friends In Jamaica
I hope the other nations around the hemisphere who aren’t hurting too badly are getting ready for a massive relief effort – because this could be the worst we’ve ever seen in modern Caribbean history.

“Pray For Our Friends In Jamaica” please explain to those of us who are not brainwashed… what good that will do.

Once again, Barbados has been extremely fortunate and has been spared from the wrath of Mother Nature. I was reading that back in ‘88, Gilbert killed 45 people and resulted in around $4 billion in damages in JAM. That sort of hit on Bim would wipe us out almost entirely.
As you say, one can only hope that the rest of the region is on standby and ready to assist in whatever way possible. This is as good a test (and a most UNFORTUNATE and DEADLY one at that!) as any when it comes to demonstrating regional integration, support and assistance. We shall all see what happens shortly as all eyes/ears are on Jamaica.

It also looks like Grand Cayman and Conzumel/Cancun will also be destroyed. The latter has just finished rebuilding after hurricane Wilma in 2005.

I live in Jamaica and I am just about finished preparing. All that is left now is to ride out the monster. Fortunately my home and community is safe but it’s my less fortunate Jamaican brothers who I am worried about. it will be here is less than a day and 2 days from now we will know the results of the impact, I just hope the loss of life is minimum.

Hunker down my brother, there is not one thing we can do to assist at this moment except offering a heartfelt prayer.
Once Dean has passed hopefully you will see the full weight of CARICOM assistance.
Keep safe, our thoughts are with you.
